The bills am receiving from Nexamp are higher than any bill I have ever received for electricity. I cannot afford to use them as my supplier for even one more billing cycle. My usage has not changed. The problem is the cost of energy.Nexamp

Hi Desire,
Thank you for your feedback, and we are sorry to hear you arent completely satisfied with your experience.
It is important to note that Nexamp is not your energy supplier. You continue to receive your electricity through Central ************ but your bill to them is reduced by the value of the community solar credits you receive from Nexamp. We provide those kWh offsets to you at a 15% discount, so a $100 reduction in electricity costs only costs you $85 in return to Nexamp.
When you signed up with Nexamp you agreed to receive solar energy credits designed to offset your historical electricity usage by sizing your share of the solar farm to offset your average monthly costs. The design of the program in ***** is that you receive credit for what the farm has generated. In the summer months this means that you would receive credits in excess of your usage. In winter months, where solar energy is less, your credits would be less than your monthly usage.
Aside from increased solar production, the amount of solar credit you have received also increased due to Central ***** Powers rising rates. Unfortunately, this is not something Nexamp controls. When the utility's electricity rates go up, so do the value of the discounts we provide you. Since your utility is the one to value and apply the kWh offsets to your bill, Nexamp does not charge a fixed rate per kWh for your electricity. Instead, we match the value of the credits that were used to offset your existing utility bill, and then provide a discount which provides you with net savings.
Regarding your account balance, ********************** does not charge late fees, interest, or impact credit scores. We are always willing to work with you on selecting a payment plan that works best if needed. This will not lose your ability to still receive new solar credits as expected.
If you have additional questions or need to make adjustments to your Nexamp account, you can reach our support team at ************ on Monday-Friday from 8:30 AM 6:00 PM EST.

We signed up for NEXAMP's deal at the end of last 2022.The allocation of solar panels to us, was based on previous years consumption of electricity. After a couple of months this year, our bill almost doubled from $131.80 to $246.64. Repeat calls to their c.s. dpt. only resulted in vague explanations about the solar panels put out more electricity the longer the days get (duh!).They could not and have not to this day told me what the allocation is (nominal kWh).The c.s. rep. promised to run my numbers through their allocation tool and down-adjust our allocation. Due to regulation, she claimed that my new allocation would not take effect until July 2023. She promised to send me the new numbers with explanations and comparisons between the allocations. They also can't give an explanation how the discount I receive is calculated. Whos rate is discounted? [XXXX] rate or [YYYY] which my town has a contract with? If it is based on what [XXXX] charges for the gen. power, then the charge after discount will probably not even match what { is charging.I have nothing from them, not new numbers, no explanations. Now they are not returning my emails. As a result, I have cancelled my contract with them, but may on the hook until end of September.NEXAMPs invoices contain only a dollar amount, not related to HOW MUCH (kWh) in solar credits they have received from [XXXX].As a result of their overestimates and overcharging, I now have a credit with [XXXX}, and keep building this credit every month. This is money [XXXX} is not allowed (due to regulations) to pay out to me, but the credit keeps building. My latest bill from [XXXX} is ($182.43) another negative number, or credit!I believe this company (NEXAMP) used deceptive marketing methods and then followed on with totally undecipherable invoices. I believe that my monthly electric has in reality doubled since I signed up with them, but it is impossible to compare the numbers.Nexamp

Hi ****,
Thank you for writing in. We are sorry to hear about the difficulties you are facing and can certainly do our best to help.
When you first signed up with our program, we analyzed your usage and electricity costs to estimate a share size on our solar farm that should cover close to 90% of your Unitil costs for the year.
In order to cover these costs, it is typical for our customers to produce more credits than what they need in the summer months when days are long and sunny, to still substantially reduce their utility costs in the winter where solar energy production is less. The excess credits that are generated in the summer months will remain on your Unitil account and will be used during those months where your usage is greater than the energy credits generated by the solar farm. You are essentially pre-paying for solar credits that you will use to offset your winter energy usage at a ****% discount.
Aside from increased solar production, the amount of solar credit you have received also increased due to Unitils rising rates. Unfortunately, this is not something Nexamp controls. When ******************* rates go up, so do the value of the solar energy credits we provide you. Since your utility is the one to value and apply the solar credits to your bill, Nexamp does not charge a fixed rate per kWh for your electricity. Instead, we match the value of the credits that were used to offset your existing utility bill, and then provide a discount which provides you with net savings. Since the start of the year Nexamp has applied over $1,100 to your Unitil account which has resulted in savings of nearly $150.
As for the timeline to adjust customers accounts, we are limited to 4 submissions to the utility a year per the programs regulations. These are submitted each quarter so that there is a consistent schedule to make changes for our thousands of customers. Whether it be to adjust subscription sizes on our farm or process cancelation requests, the process is not immediate, and it is referenced in the contract you signed with Nexamp.
While your cancelation is being finalized, Nexamp does not charge late fees or interest when paying your invoices. We are always willing to work with you on selecting a payment plan that works best if needed. This will not lose your ability to still receive new solar credits and continue to receive discounts until the process is finalized.
Nexamp has been in business for over 15 years and is a veteran-founded company committed to helping people decarbonize their life. We operate in numerous states and help tens of thousands of customers save money on their electricity bills every month. We have a A+ rating from the BBB and have personally spent hours researching and responding to your complaint because we are committed to providing the best service possible for all our customers.
We hope the details above help address the concerns you raised in your complaint. We're sorry that we have lost you as a customer.

Dear NEXAMP - You spent ~519 words on your response, yet failed to address ANY of my complaints or questions either in my initial review or in my multiple contacts with your customer service representative. To make it easier for you:->HOW did you come up with the original amount of panels/credits you assigned to me based on the annual consumption numbers I provided you with?->WHAT is the initial amount you assigned to me, in panels (?) or in kWh? If in number of panels, what is the nominal average output for one of these panels? Don't tell me that you don't know that.->HOW did the same annual consumption numbers provided to you in April to your CS representative become the lower (~ 58%?) estimate of power assigned to me after supposedly running through the same estimation tool? Seems that the original estimate was a gouging technique from your side.->SINCE WHEN should your rate be based on what the utility charges per kWh? The sun is free - you are shamelessly cashing in on a utility rate hike. The fact that you shamelessly refer to yourself as a "veteran-founded company" does not lend any credibility to your less-than-transparent business methods. All the honest veterans out there would take exception to your practices and distance themselves from you.As for your BBB rating, is is ONLY because BBB does not include customer feedback in their overall rating. Were they to do that, your rating would drop like a lead balloon.Review fromCarrie A

Signed up in 2020 when they where advitising on my area. They never sent me a bill or any news of when they where starting service. So i fugured it wasnt avaible yet.Now fast forward to may of 2023 they have been charging me for solar energy since 9/22 and we never got invoices sent to ** or anything. Apparently via email or so they say.So now we owe **** dollars and are bill for one month was over 700 dollars never in my life has my light bull been remotely that high. I then proceeded to ask to cancle services ans be put on payment plan they then tell me it could take 3 months to cancel it. Wouldn't you think if a customer missed months of payments they'd send a invoice by mail?Nexamp

Dear ******,
Thank you for writing in and providing your feedback. We are sorry to hear you were not satisfied with your experience.
We understand that you have canceled your account with us, but wed like to address the specifics of your review in the hopes that they can provide you with the details you need to resolve your questions and concerns about Nexamp.
To start, we had enrolled you in our program prior to our solar farm going live. While our crews were working to build the solar farm and connect it to your local utility grid, our internal team sent you email updates along the way regarding your status. Our records show that you received 5 email updates which provided you with further information about your subscription, project status, and invoicing details. Your first Nexamp invoice was also sent via mail which included an insert describing where to find your solar energy credits on your Versant bill, along with a notice that it would be your only paper bill unless otherwise requested. Regardless of your paper billing preferences, the email address we have on file for you has been receiving monthly invoicing notifications for when a new invoice is generated and/or a reminder for payment.
The invoice you referred to was higher than usual because it reflected two months of summer generation on our solar farm. The design of the program in ***** is that you receive credits for what your share of our solar farm has generated. In the summer months this means that you would likely receive credits in excess of your usage. In the winter months, where solar energy production is less, your credits would be less than your monthly usage. You are essentially pre-paying for solar credits that you will use to offset your winter energy usage at a 15% discount. By the time your cancelation is finalized, you will have received over $2,000 in solar energy credits that were used to reduce what you were paying to your utility.
As for our cancelation policy, when you cancel with Nexamp, we process that cancelation immediately. However, in *****, when you cancel with a community solar provider like Nexamp, Versant has up to 90 days to remove you from their systems. During that 90-day window you can still receive solar energy credits that reduce your utility bill. This is why the original contract you signed with **, and the cancelation email we provided you with, mentioned that the process can take up to 90 days.
In terms of the next steps, you will be removed from our solar farm which will no longer provide you with savings on your utility bills. We also have been working with you to align on a payment plan that works for both parties. We appreciate your cooperation and do not charge late fees or interest.
If you have additional questions regarding your Nexamp account, you can reach our support team at ************ on Monday-Friday from 8:30 AM 6:00 PM EST.

NEXAMP solar farms is a scam run between National Grid ( and other energy provider) and Nexamp. If you are an average user who tries to keep electric bills in check you are likely to see a Nexamp bill for double or triple what you had been getting from your energy provider and huge credits (you cannot access) at your energy providers in my case National Grid. They say you can cancel at anytime and after seeing what was happening i was told it will take 6 months to cancel my account at **********************Nexamp

Hi ******,
Thank you for reaching out and we are sorry to hear that you have been dissatisfied during your experience with our organization.
Your recent bill from Nexamp was higher than usual because National Grid raised their electricity rates significantly last Fall. Unfortunately, this is not something that Nexamp can control. When electricity rates go up, so does the value of the solar energy credits we generate and provide for you.
The design of the program in ************* is that you receive credit for what the farm has generated. In the Spring and Summer months, this means that it is possible to receive credits in excess of your usage. In Winter months, when solar energy is less, your credits would be less than your monthly usage. The goal is to cover about 90% of your utility costs throughout the year. We do our best to explain the program so that all consumers can make an educated choice on whether or not they think community solar is the right system for them.As you know, since you posted this review, a Nexamp supervisor has reached out to you so that we can learn more about your concerns and ensure that we find a solution that works for both parties. Thank you again for your patience and commitment to reach a resolution with our team.
Regarding your assertion that we are a scam, we believe your comment is not accurate. We are a veteran-founded business committed to helping people decarbonize their life. We operate in numerous states and help tens of thousands of customers save money on their electricity bills every month. We have a A+ rating from BBB and are committed to providing the best service possible for all our customers. I am all for using solar energy and working to protect our future earth. This company is just short of a scam. Over the past year, I have been billed twice during a 30 day period - led to believe I owed the full amount even before the first bill was due. That got straightened out and then my last bill has increased each month since the weather got warmer and I am using less energy. In May, 2023, I was just billed for $421! When I called, they told me I was assigned me 35 panels and built up credits with National Grid for my benefit. When I told them I have never recieved a bill for any utility for this amount, they tried to tell me it was based on a bill I sent them - a boldface lie! The bill prior to the $421 was $200 - The truth is, Nexamp is having customers pay much in advance for energy not used. My bill would have been much less had I been paying ************* all year. I have their PDFs to prove it. Nexamp does not save you money and you cannot speak with a supervisor. They tell you you are confused about the process when you receive a huge bill. I am not confused at all. I am being charged for overproduction in a way that is impossible to budget for and even more impossible to sustain. Stay away from this company - they are very poorly managed operation!Nexamp

Hi *****,
Thank you for your feedback and we are sorry to hear that you have been frustrated with your experience with our organization.
Your recent bill from Nexamp was higher than usual because National Grid raised their electricity rates significantly last Fall. Unfortunately, this is not something that Nexamp can control. When electricity rates go up, so does the value of the solar energy credits we generate and provide for you. For your reference, included below is a link to a recently published article which explains why rates are so high in ************* and when they are expected to go down.*******************************************************************************************************************;
The design of the program in ************* is that you receive credit for what the farm has generated. In the Spring and Summer months, this means that it is possible to receive credits in excess of your usage. ** Winter months, when solar energy is less, your credits would be less than your monthly usage. The goal is to cover about 90% of your utility costs throughout the year. We do our best to explain the program so that all consumers can make an educated choice on whether or not they think community solar is the right system for them.
Your most recent bill from Nexamp shows that our solar farm generated $481.21 in solar energy credits that were placed on your National Grid bill to reduce the costs owed to them. Please review your National Grid bill to ensure that there is a negative adjustment. This should show under the Other Charges/Adjustments section for the National Grid bill you received in either late April or May. We do not send customers an invoice until we receive confirmation from your utility that the solar energy credits have been placed on your account. If you have a substantial negative balance on your National Grid account, we can reassess your usage and reduce the number of credits you receive.
The good news is that National Grids proposed rate decreases have started to go into effect as of May 1st. This means that the credits produced after that date will start to reflect a more typical pricing structure. You can always see the timeline of our solar production on our invoices. Regarding payments for your Nexamp account, we do not charge late fees, interest, or impact credit scores. We are always willing to work with you on selecting a payment plan that works best given the invoices being higher than normal.
Nexamp has been in business for over 15 years and is a veteran-founded company committed to helping people decarbonize their life and providing a positive experience for our customers. We are here to assist as needed moving forward and thank you for your time.J. L.

While the response from Nexamp is polished and seems to cover all the bases. However, the reality of thier plan is that National Grid has presented me with all my bills and they have always been lower than Nexamp for this entire year. The truth is, I have saved nothing. Also, they seem so warm and responsive, but they do not address the fact that I could not receive a response over the phone from them and requested to speak with a supervisor. That never happened. They only responded because the Better Business Bureau was contacted. They do bill twice in a month unless a customer complains and if you read between their lines, you see a plan that allows for erratic billing practices that make it impossible for a customer to plan ahead - and in the long run, I have seen no savings by being with them. I am glad I closed the account and in reading similar reviews, I am not alone in my experience with this poorly run utility company. Stay away from them everyone!Review fromtom g

I signed up for this service for the monthly savings on my electric bill. I heard nothing for months. All of a sudden I get bills from them ************* added grossly to my electric bill. Hi ***, thank you for your feedback. Let us first start by apologizing that you were not satisfied with your experience with Nexamp. We pride ourselves on delivering an exceptional customer experience and we take feedback from our customers seriously. To address your concerns directly, we had enrolled you in our program prior to our solar farm going live in order to confirm that you would have a reserved spot. During our efforts to finish construction and start producing solar energy as soon as possible, our system shows that we had sent you 5 email updates between October 2021 and November 2022 so you could stay informed about our progress in getting your subscription started. Prior to receiving any Nexamp invoices, you also received an email to set up your online account with Nexamp. In general, the design of our program is to help reduce utility costs for people who cannot use solar panels themselves. Since it sounds like you already offset most of your usage costs with your own panels, the savings are not as easily recognized, and we understand why you would no longer wish to be enrolled. I hope the details above help address the concerns you raised. However, if you have additional questions regarding your Nexamp account, you can reach our support team at ************ on Monday-Friday from 8:30 AM 6:00 PM EST.Review fromBetty D

I've been very satisfied with my solar energy subscription. I was not wild about adding solar panels to my new roof. This was a great alternative for solar energy. No install fees, no maintenance, just credits on my bill. I've continued to save every month using Nexamp. Solar energy subscriptions are a newer option. Plus utility companies have different structures. I suspect some snags are more likely related to how the utility company is regulated and organized, and it takes time for these newer issues to be resolved. In addition, states oversee utilities somewhat differently. Laws must be followed, and sometimes even adjusted to meet current needs of residents. Also, utility rates can go up independently of the solar farm. It all has to be ironed out. I've had no snags so I have no personal experience with that. But this is hardly a scam. It's an alternative energy source that I am happy to have available in my area.Nexamp

Hi ****, Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear about your experience and would like to take a moment to address the concerns that you raised. We can see that you requested to cancel your Nexamp account on 10/6/2022. When you cancel with Nexamp, we process that cancelation immediately. However, in ********, when you cancel with a community solar provider like Nexamp, your utility has up to 90 days to remove you from their systems. During that 90-day window you can still receive solar energy credits that reduce your Ameren bill. It is important to note that Nexamp bills our services in arrears, so there is always a delay between when you see credits on your Ameren account and when we bill you. This explains why you received Nexamp invoices after your cancelation request date. The final bill that was generated in your Nexamp account was dated 1/31/2023, which was for credits that were produced between 10/25/2022 and 12/28/2022. This date range is within the 90-day cancellation timeline referenced in our contract. With this said, due to a systems error, we were delayed in sending out a notification that your invoice had been produced. We sincerely apologize for the mistake and do not charge late fees, interest, or impact credit scores as you work towards paying the invoice. Once that is completed, your account has been officially canceled with Nexamp and you will no longer receive solar credits on your utility bills and corresponding Nexamp invoices. We hope this was able to clear up any confusion you may have had. However, if you have any additional questions about the information provided, please let us know. Reading some of these reviews I see a similar series of events. To begin, the billing is at the very least confusing. About the start of covid it got worse and far less predictable. At one time I went 6 months without being billed. No end to the finger pointing, it's always the other guy that's responsible. I had no idea what to anticipate for a bill and couldn't budget anything they were so unpredictable. I finally decided to cancel, they promptly acknowledged my request indicating it would take 3 months to rid myself of this abortion. It took 6 months to get out from under their agreement. A perfect testament to the incompetence experienced, buyer beware.Nexamp

Hi John, thank you for your feedback. Let me first start by apologizing that you have had a poor experience with our organization. We pride ourselves on delivering an exceptional customer experience and we take feedback from our customers seriously.
As you had personally come across throughout 2022, Central Hudson had been experiencing difficulties in producing timely and accurate utility bills for their customers. Since Nexamp relies on Central Hudson to inform our team about the solar energy credits that were applied to your utility bills, we too experienced these troubles. Throughout this difficult period, Nexamp has tried to stay as transparent as possible about how we are working towards a resolution. While we too have been frustrated with the impacts of Central Hudson’s delays and inaccuracies, we understand that it negatively impacted your experience with Nexamp.
As for your cancelation request, it appears that there was unfortunately an error in processing this as originally intended. We apologize for the inconvenience and can confirm that you were only invoiced for credits that were produced within the 90-day timeline of your cancelation. Your account is officially canceled, and there is no further action needed on your part. We are committed to providing the best service possible for all our customers and sincerely apologize if we didn’t meet your expectations.
