Hi Abbi,
Thank you for reaching out and we sincerely apologize for any confusion you might be experiencing.
After reviewing your account, we are able to see that you are making consistent payments towards your Nexamp balance, and we thank you for doing so. With this said, the reason you are receiving automatic payment reminders from our billing system is because there is an unpaid balance of $4.71 from your May 11th invoice. To correct this, please refer to the total balance figure on your most recent Nexamp invoice so you can pay the full account balance and get it completely caught up. Once that is completed, you can then refer to the current charges figure on the Nexamp invoices to make sure the correct amount is paid monthly moving forward.
Please note that Nexamp does not charge late fees or interest and our team is here to work with you to make your experience the best it can be. If you have additional questions regarding your Nexamp account, you can reach our support team at ************ or ********************************* We are available Monday-Friday from 8:30 AM 6:00 PM EST.

They say they are giving me energy credits, I am being billed fully by my utility orange and Rockland, and these people are billing me as well, telling me I am getting a 10% discount. Meanwhile my O&R **** says I am receiving power from clean choice not Nexamp, so I have no idea what they are charging me for. When I finally got through to the company to tell them I am not paying them, they said that these are future credits? What do I want future credits for? I could be dead. They insist that I am national grid electric but I am not. Never let these people in your house or talk to them. they are now telling me they are going to turn me over to collections. I don't care my credit score is over 900 lol. they are a rip off and poorly managed company.Nexamp

Hi ****,
Thank you for your feedback.
It is important to note that Nexamp is not your energy provider. You continue to receive your electricity through your alternative energy supplier, Clean Choice, but your overall electricity costs are reduced by the value of the community solar credits you receive from Nexamp. We provide those credits to you at a 10% discount, so for example, $100 in credits only costs you $90.
When you signed up with Nexamp you agreed to receive solar energy credits designed to offset your historical monthly electricity usage costs by sizing your share of the solar farm. The design of the program in ******** is that you receive credit for what the farm has generated. In the summer months this means it is possible that you would receive credits in excess of your usage. In winter months, where solar energy is less, your credits would be less than your monthly usage costs which would allow you to use any excess credits you may have stored.
Please note that Nexamp does not send an invoice to a customer until we receive confirmation from Orange and Rockland that credits have been placed on your account. As a reminder, the reductions from Nexamp on your Orange and Rockland bills should be listed as a Total Credit Applied under the CDG Credit Summary Section. These should display a negative dollar value that is being subtracted from what your total costs to the utility are.
While your account is officially canceled with Nexamp, our team is able to assist as needed. We hope the additional information provides some clarity in your situation. Thank you for your time as a Nexamp subscriber.

The reviews for NEXAMP are all basically the same and I agree 100%. Our bill absolutely increased more than our other account that didnt include solar credits. Its very convoluted and seemingly deliberate. 90 did to cancel? Our other provider said that exceeds the time it should take to remove Van existing account. We all want clean energy and we all want to pay less vs more for our power. NEXAMP offers credits based on usage and I now know we didnt use enough electricity to receive any benefit at all. You now have a large amount of unhappy customers who are leaving NEXAMP as soon as they realize that the solar credits are not what they were told. Im now with a company who invoices on the same bill as our electric provider as it had always been. One bill vs 2 is certainly easier to understand., plus we have a 5 year contract. We can contact them at anytime should we find a better rate and they will adjust it. The language used when buying electricity is not at all clear to the average consumer. These are very important factors for consumers that should be addressed immediately. I hope you will make changes that will benefit your customers or you will likely no longer be in business based on the current methods you are implementing.Nexamp

Hi Alyssa,
Thank you for writing in and discussing your experience. We will be sure to review this information with our team so we can continue to improve our service. To respond to your concerns directly, we hope the information below is able to assist.
First, it is important to note that Nexamp is not a third-party supplier. We are a solar developer providing you with the opportunity to subscribe directly to one of our solar farms. This means that your utility and/or supplier will still issue you a bill each month for the electricity you use, but it will be reduced by community solar credits that were generated from your share of our solar farm. You do not need to choose one or the other and can instead do both. As our team has mentioned before, you can see these reductions on your utility bill in the form of kWh under the Your Generation Details section listed as Allocated Generation. After you have generated these offsets and they are applied to your utility bill, Nexamp will invoice you for them but at a 15% discount.
Second, the reason why your invoices would have increased more than normal is because standard utility rates have increased substantially since the start of the year. Unfortunately, this is not something Nexamp controls. When the utility's electricity rates go up, so do the value of the discounts we provide you. Since your utility is the one to value and apply the kWh offsets to your bill, Nexamp does not charge a fixed rate per kWh for your electricity. Instead, we match the value of the credits that were used to offset your existing utility bill, and then apply a discount which provides our customers with net savings. If you have accrued excess solar credits with the utility, you will be able to use them to offset your usage costs in months when our credits dont cover all your electricity costs.
Lastly, the details regarding our cancelation process are detailed in the contract you signed with Nexamp. When you cancel with Nexamp, we process that cancelation immediately. However, in *****, when you cancel with a community solar provider like Nexamp, Central *********** has up to 90 days to remove you from their systems. During that 90-day window you can still receive solar energy credits that reduce your utility bill. This is why the cancelation email we provided you in May also mentioned that the process can take up to 90 days.
We document these processes in the contract you signed with Nexamp and in the numerous emails we send to all our customers when our solar farms go live and when credits begin being generated. We do our best to explain the program so that all consumers can make an educated choice on whether or not they sign-up for community solar.
Our team works incredibly hard to make sure our customers have a positive experience, and we are here to support you as needed until your cancelation is finalized. We are sorry to lose you as a customer and can assist by calling ************ or emailing ********************************* We are available Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. EST.

Caveat emptor is Latin for "Let the buyer beware." My town sent a letter that a community solar farm was being installed and each resident was offered the opportunity to " receive credits on their ************* electric bill for the energy produced by their solar farm share Nexamp." My first mistake- relying on the official town letter. To me the letter implied Nexamp would conduct business in a transparent manner and work for the common good. In reality Nexamp is a business. The number one goal is to make a profit for their company. The process is not transparent and the consumer safeguards that apply to public utilities are not in place to protect a consumer because Nexamp is selling solar to *************. The consumer is just a means to an end. My 2nd mistake- relying on Nexamp's website and marketing materials. The Nexamp website does a really good job at simplifying a pretty complicated topic i.e., electrical rates, distribution fees, distribution charges, Kwh, etc. The website states "no rooftop panels, no sign-up fees, no long-term contracts, no cancelation fees. When subscribing to a Nexamp solar farm, we allot you space based on your annual electricity usage. The amount of solar energy produced by your section translates into credits on your electricity bill. Nexamp bills you for these credits at a set discount after selling the farms total energy generation to local utilities." It all seems so simple but the devil is in the details or the Subscription size - i.e., the electricity usage. Each customer uploads a copy of their electric bill so it can be analyzed. Nexamp doesn't explain how the bill is analyzed. Usage determines the credit. IF Nexamp overestimates the usage then the customer receives a huge credit and a huge bill. My family's usage has always been about 7.5 Kwh but my contract listed my subscription size as 15.5Kwh. Unfortunately, I didn't catch Nexamp's mistake resulting in a huge bill and no consumer recourse. Buyer Beware!Nexamp

Hi *****,
Thank you for writing in, and we are sorry to hear that you are not completely satisfied with your experience. We pride ourselves on delivering an exceptional customer experience and we take feedback from our customers seriously.
Unfortunately, we were not able to locate your Nexamp account given the details available to us, but we would be happy to assist once we know more. With that said, below are details that might be able to be able to assist for the time being.
When customers inquire about our community solar program, we offer information via email, physical mail, and/or a live representative as needed. These avenues help our customers learn how the process works, where they are saving money, and details how you can make changes to your account as needed. We do our best to explain the program so that all consumers can make an educated choice on whether or not they sign-up for community solar. We also document these items in the contract you signed with Nexamp and in the numerous emails we send to all our customers when our solar farms go live and when credits begin being generated.
Our goal is to cover roughly 85% of your utility costs throughout the year. If you feel that you are receiving too many credits from Nexamp, please let our team know so that we can adjust as needed. We would need to see a copy of a recent utility bill of yours so that we can conduct an analysis of your overall usage patterns. As for the timeline to make these adjustments, we are limited to 4 submissions to the utility a year per ************* program regulations. These are submitted each quarter so that there is a consistent schedule to make changes for our thousands of customers.
Our team is dedicated to helping you maximize your savings and making this program as beneficial for you as possible. We are a veteran-founded business committed to helping people decarbonize their life. We operate in numerous states and help tens of thousands of customers save money on their electricity bills every month. We have spent a significant amount of time looking into your review because we are committed to providing the best service possible for all our customers.
If you continue to have questions regarding your Nexamp account, please reach out to us via email at ******************************** or call ************. We are available Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m. - 6 p.m. EST.

Nexamp, in and of itself, works well for me. My only real complaint is with billing. I dislike very much getting a bill for several months at once. I understand that this may not be all Nexamps doing and that National Grid may be responsible. Regardless, getting a bill from Nexamp for several months at a time completely screws up my budgeting and cash flow.Nexamp

I was not told there was nothing I had to do to receive the solar. It was also my understanding that billing would continue through BGE, that's not the case. After 5 months go by, I received a very large bill for $300+ when I called them to see what was going on, my service was suspended for non payments. I received yet another bill, owing more money and was told that I would continue to receive a new bill for 90 days after my service has been canceled. I was lied to and now being ripped off by Nexamp.Nexamp

Hi ******,
Thank you for reaching out. We are sorry to hear about the difficulties you are facing and can certainly do our best to help.
Our team at Nexamp is committed to helping customers understand how our program functions and documents this process in the contract you signed with Nexamp and in the numerous emails we send to all our customers when our solar farms go live and when credits begin being generated. You also received a Community Solar 101 packet when signing up which many of our customers use as a reference guide. We do our best to explain the program so that all consumers can make an educated choice on whether or not they sign-up for community solar.
In general, Nexamp is not your energy provider. You continue to receive your electricity through ************* and Electric, but your bill to them is reduced by the value of the community solar credits you collect from Nexamp. We provide those credits to you at a 10% discount, so for example $100 in credits only costs you $90. As a reminder, the reductions from Nexamp on your utility bills should be listed as a Community Solar Adjustment under the Other Charges and Credits section.
Nexamp does not send an invoice to you until we receive confirmation from your utility that credits have been placed on your account. Because of this, your Nexamp invoices are for solar energy credits that you should have already seen appear on your utility account from the month prior.
As for your cancelation, when you request to do so, we process that immediately. However, in ********, when you cancel with a community solar provider like Nexamp, your utility has up to 90 days to remove you from their systems. During that 90-day window you can still receive solar energy credits that reduce your utility bill. This is why the original contract you signed with us, and the cancelation email we provided you mentioned that the process can take up to 90 days.
We hope that these details were able to address your concerns. However, if you have any further questions or want to learn more about how we are committed to providing you savings please reach out to our support team at ************ or ********************************* We are available Monday-Friday from 8:30 AM 6:00 PM EST.

Nexamp convinced me to sign up based on the commitment that I would receive a 10% discount on the Generation and Transmission charges on my power bill. However, in reality the ten percent discount they provided was on a a Generation and Transmission charge that was more than $01.5 cents higher than what the power company was charging me. The result was that even after 10% discount I was paying more to Nexamp than I would have been to the power company. When I brought this to the attention of the people in the billing department at Nexamp they took over a week to answer my very simple question of why was I paying more for my electricity. Their response was that was what the power company told them was the value of the energy credits they were providing to the grid. That didn't make much sense to me and it certainly wasn't what they promised when I signed up for the service.Nexamp

Hi ******,
Thank you for your feedback and we apologize for any difficulties you have experienced with Nexamp.
Since your utility is the one to value and apply the solar credits to your bill, Nexamp does not charge a fixed rate per kWh for your electricity. Instead, we match the value of the credits that were generated to offset your existing utility bill, and then provide a 10% discount which provides you with net savings.
After reviewing your account, it appears that your calculations were using the standard offer service rate that is listed on your utility bill. However, according to Potomac Edisons pricing regulations, your total electricity costs (and the value of our solar credits) are calculated by using the total of the Supply, Transmission, and Distribution rates on a monthly basis. These solar credits can only reduce the charges directly associated with your usage and not the additional surcharges or fees set by the utility.
Our team is committed to helping you understand the benefit of our program and provide you with as much savings as possible. We will reach out to you personally so that your outstanding questions are met to make sure we are all on the same page for how you are saving money.
We thank you for your time to ensure that we find a solution that works for both parties.

Hi ****,
Thank you for writing in.
The design of our program is to help homeowners like yourself who have roofs that are not designed to accommodate solar panels themselves. When you signed up with Nexamp you agreed to receive solar energy credits designed to offset your historical electricity usage by sizing your share of the solar farm to your average monthly costs.
You will continue to receive your electricity through your utility, National Grid, but your bill to them will be reduced by the value of the community solar credits you receive from Nexamp. We provide those credits to you at a 10% discount, so for example, $100 in credits only costs you $90.
We do our best to explain the program so that all consumers can make an educated choice on whether or not they sign-up for community solar. I had the same problem the monthly bills just kept climbing. First statement $101.00 fourth payment $****** solar was to save me money not brake the bank. So I called told them about it they did not seem to care. I also told them I really did not know what I was receiving from them except for ********* credits. No statement at all why **** kept going up they at first told me I had to many panels so I was producing extra electricity. Contacted them to decrease the panels told it is going to take three months. Everything with this company takes time to do any thing except to send you a bill. It seems you get one paid and they have another one right there before your eyes. I called them on June 5, 2023 to tell them about the $ ****** bill and they told me the jump was because the sun was hotter. So I took that as the summer months come that I will pay a lot more. So after talking to the support person I decided to pull out of my contract. Going to take six months to dissolve this contract the support person did tell me she would try to move it to the top. This might be a good program for people that do not live on a monthly budget but for them that do it would be bank braking.Nexamp

Hi *******,
Thank you for your feedback.
When you first signed up with our program, we analyzed your usage and electricity costs to estimate a share size on our solar farm that would cover close to 90% of your National Grid costs for the year. In order to cover these costs, it is typical for our customers to produce more credits than what they need in the summer months when days are long and sunny, to still substantially reduce their utility costs in the winter where solar energy production is less. The excess credits that are generated in the summer months will remain on your utility account and will be used during those months where your usage is greater than the energy credits generated by the solar farm.
Aside from the changing of the seasons, your bills from Nexamp have been higher also because National Grid raised their rates significantly last fall. Unfortunately, this is not something Nexamp controls. When electricity rates go up, so do the value of the solar energy credits we provide you. If you are interested in reading an article that discusses why rates are so high in ************* and when they are going down please follow this link: ********************************************************************************************
To make sure you are receiving a sufficient amount of solar credits, we are always willing to reassess your usage costs and reduce the size share on our farm. Our team was working with you on doing so, but we understand that you wish to cancel. While we will try to remove you from our farm as soon as possible, our contract does ask for up to 6 months' notice due to state and utility regulations.
As that is underway, you will continue to receive new solar credits and savings. Please note that Nexamp does not charge late fees or interest when working to pay our invoices. We are always willing to work with you on selecting a payment plan that works best when needed.
If you have additional questions regarding your Nexamp account, you can reach our support team at ************ or ********************************* We are available Monday-Friday from 8:30 AM 6:00 PM EST.
