***************** with over $3,000. Unable to access account information without address verification, however the address information they have is my former. Unable to update to my current address because the account is locked. Business has previously sent the verification letter to my old address which I clearly wont receive. I cant transfer to a different broker as I need the account number, which they dont provide until the address is verified. Recurring investment of $200 a month is linked to my account which I would like to stop, but I cant. Taking funds monthly from my bank account but denying me access to my own personal information or account number, or providing me the ability to stop future investments or remove funds. I question the legality of such business practiceBusiness Response

I hold shares of ******* for two sons under the Uniform Gifts to Minors Act. Their grandfather gifted these shares to them when they were young. They are now adults and desire that I sell the shares, which I have repeatedly attempted to do, both online and by phone with Computershare, all unsuccessfully. I have been twice disconnected for no apparent reason and the online services make it so I cannot see how to proceed online to sell shares.I intend to seek civil damages including by way of punishment, if not resolved, but will try this method first to resolve.Business Response

I did not sell any of my *** shares and yet, they are gone. i cant access any previous statements reguarding my *** shares or why they are no longer in my computer share account. I've been traying to use their live chat option to resolve an issue and no one is talking to me. The website says that i have a check that needs to be replaced so when i click on the company that needs to re-send the check.(***). nothing happens. the website doesnt move forward, it just stays on the same screen. I've tried calling the customer service number and after their automated person doesn't understand that i am trying to say "***" and not some other company, it tries to send me to a live customer service specialist where it rings FOREVER and then automatically hangs up on me. Their website glitches and lack of customer service makes me feel like they are running away with my money. Where are my *** shares? and if they no longer exist for whatever reason, where is my check?Business Response

Horrible investor service. I have investments held with this company and was unable to login to my account. I tried to call the company only to be answered by a recording, which was no help. When I was suppose to be sent to a representative the phone just rang for a long time. I called back to try again and this time when sent to a representative the call was ended immediately after one ring as though they did not want to deal with investors. I tried the online chat and was told I would be sent to a representative. I'm still waiting. This is not how investors should be treated and I will be looking at other options. I suggest prospective investors do the same.Business Response

My mother passed away in March 2024 and I began the process of contacting Computershare to transfer her shares of MetLife and Bright House. The first person I spoke with had a difficult accent to understand and was beyond rude. He had the audacity to tell me to stop interrupting him when I had questions about anything I didn't understand. I was so upset that I made the mistake of not asking his name. After that waste of my time, I tried contacting Computershare through email but they didn't bother to respond until the 5th business day saying they would mail me the paper work. Meanwhile I figured out how to access Computershare's transfer wizard and went through the arduous process of collecting the documentation required. Per their wizard, once I gathered the necessary documentation to acquire the elusive Gold Medallion stamp, I wouldn't need to provide further documentation. I spent $60 to mail the documents to separate addresses. BrightHouse transferred, MetLife did not. Now I'm told I need to send the documents after all. So again, I jumped through hoops and have spent another $30 to send the extra documentation. There's been little time to mourn my mom because of the obstacles I've had to maneuver in order access a measly $8000 in shares. I was able to transfer and very substantial TRowe ***************** with a simple phone call and electronic signatures. It seems that Computershare makes it so difficult in hopes that you'll just give up and go away. I wish I had put in the paper work to sell as well as transfer the shares because that's my next step. No one should have to go through this nonsense and I look forward to the day I don't have to deal with them ever again.Business Response

I am the court-appointed Executor of the Estate of ****************************************, Deceased, and the Estate of ********************* ***********, Deceased. On October 18, 2023, I wrote to obtain a complete listing of all accounts Mr. and *************************** had with Computershare. The list I received in response, dated October 30, 2023, did not include all accounts. I learned of additional accounts later when I received year-end dividend checks from companies that were not included in the October 30 list. I made a follow-up request for a complete listing of all accounts and holdings on February 9, 2024. To date, I have not received a response. I did, however, receive a notice of change of address dated April 17, 2024, suggesting that *************************** has additional holdings with Computershare in ************************* **************** L.P. in Account No. 0******790. I learned this when I received a change of address notification from the *************** Computershare refuses to provide information to me about this account or any other potential holdings Mr. or *************************** have at Computershare.Business Response

My held shares of stock in other businesses were transferred to Computershare without my say. When I try to log on the website, it does not allow me to, always mailing a verification code to an old address. I am just trying to liquidate some shares and get tax info when needed but I am barred from even creating an account online because of some information mismatch. I have called, chatted, emailed, and mailed the company but I am always given instructions to update my information or get me closer to being able to log in. I follow the directions but never receive a response or receive the same directions. The company refuses to deal with an unauthorized user but I cannot get my information authorized, a catch-22. This process has occurred five times over the past 2 years. I am frustrated and this company should not exist.Customer Answer

Thank you for the response. The default response I received now, I have received two times before. I have mailed in the information as requested but have never received any response. The company does not even provide the courtesy of notifying customers what is missing or what is the problem. I am still in the same place I was years ago. There needs to be a better way to verify myself, whether escalating it up the chain or something else. I will not continue to perform the same action, expecting any different result.
Also, the copy of the 1099-DIV 2023 was not provided with this response as promised.

Again, the information was already provided but the company claims they have not received it. I have all the information needed to prove my and my business identity that would be enough for any other company but these requirements are excessive and vague. No other company asks for this information. I still do not have the specific reason or information that is missing. I would like a call or Zoom from someone with the authority to process my information. I am just trying to get online access. I am not trying to transact even $5,000.

My father, a retired ***** employee, who owned ***** stock through Computershare, died last November. I am his daughter and also the Personal Representative of the Estate. I am trying to get his stock put into his Estate so that I can close out our probate, but Computershare is requiring a medallion stamp to transfer the stock. This is a hardship, due to the fact that in most banks are not willing to do a medallion stamp anymore (an antiquated procedure) and those that do, require you to be a customer at their bank. I am not a member of a bank that does medallion stamps. I have the actual paper stock certificates, proof of identity, letters of testamentary and any other proof I would possibly need to prove who I am and why I have a right to transfer these stocks. I am more than willing to get a notary stamp, but they will not accept this. I have spoken to several customer service agents at ******************** about this, and they all have been very professional and have even gone so far as to agree with the fact that this policy needs to change, but Computershare is unwilling to accept a notary stamp and also unwilling to release my fathers stock funds without this antiquated, very hard to come by medallion stamp. The only alternative offered to me is an esignatureguarantee.com website, which is not only very costly, but more importantly, I do not wish to copy send such personal information to an internet website that I am unfamiliar with. Please help.Business Response

I do not accept the response due to the fact that they CAN accept a notary stamp, but they CHOOSE not to. This is a scam. Computershare receives a 35% referral fee from eSignature and IWC Probate Services, which is who they endorse verbally since VERY FEW banks want to take on the liablility of a Medallion Guarantee Stamp anymore. And NO banks will do it if you're not already an existing customer. Why would they? Check with ****************, who used to provide them, but now says they've stopped because of the liabilty involved. There's nothing in it for the banks. Only Computershare wins with taking their 35% cut from the eSignature and IWC Probate Services that they recommend to all their clients who cannot find a bank to do their bidding. Totally unacceptable and reprehensible. They're holding other peoples stock money hostage for their own benefit. DO YOUR OWN DILIGENCE AND VERIFY DOCUMENTS YOURSELF. That's why we go to court to be able to produce them. PLEASE. DO NOT MAKE A LOVED ONES DEATH ANY MORE OF A HARDSHIP!

This company is notorious for putting up guardrails against anyone cashing out their stock, and the Internet is absolutely awash in shareholder complaints. I am trying to cash out some of the investments of my father (*****************************). With *******, I am able to do so with one phone call. With Computershare, it is probably not possible. They request paper copies of the stock issuance, which I don't think even exist, and require non-refundable check payments for services such as "waiving the gold medallion certification," and as far as I can tell, there is no such thing as a gold medallion certification. This company has all the markings of running a Ponzi scheme, a shell of a company pretending to trade stocks but really just being a loosely run network of customer service telephone operators backed by a complaint department website that just runs its callers in circles until they give up.Business Response

I have received a letter from Computershare requesting more information from me to resolve the matter regarding how difficult I think they make it to sell their stocks. I will operate in good faith that my responding to this letter will result in better service. Otherwise, I will just update my complaint.
Thanks,
