      Auto Owners Insurance is a no customer friendly company. And will try to take advantage of older people

      I was involved in an accident on August 19, 2023. It was determined I was not at fault. I have been paying my premiums in full each year since I renewed my policy with Auto-Owners. At no time did I ever agree to forfeit my legitimate property rights when I entered into this agreement with them. Yet due to being the victim of another driver's negligence, Auto-Owners are now trying to coerce me into accepting an unacceptable settlement. They ended the rental car I paid for with my premiums, this has now affected my employment and will ensure I cannot receive medical treatment for the injuries I received in the accident. They are more interested in ensuring the bottom line is met and they disregard the fact they are destroying another human being's life. I have gone as far as requesting a phone call from their CEO without success. To be honest, I don't believe it would benefit me to speak to him since everyone from the adjuster, the adjuster's manager, and the compliance department won't utilize their discretionary authority or empathy. They claim to use a third-party appraiser, but thats not possible when they pay the appraiser. If I had been afforded the opportunity to sell my car on my own, I would have most definitely received a more honest value. The interesting thing is they have no concern about going to litigation, they would rather spend thousands of dollars more than they would ever pay me to avoid acting in accordance with the good faith agreement we entered when we renewed our relationship each year. Doesnt seem like a profitable business model. Spending more on your lawyers seems backward when being honest with the person you said you would protect when they entered into the relationship seems off.

      First they agree to insure my home prior to me purchasing it. Shortly after I purchased my home they threatened to cancel my policy due to chipped and worn pain on my aluminum siding.. COMPLETELY COSMETIC. Then 8 months later they cancelled my policy due to another ridiculous reason and I cannot even call and talk to a live person at auto owners about the situation.

      Mafia based company. Why doesnt BBB remove them from their recommendations? No one gets paid.Auto Owners finds willing Insurance Agents to write scuzzy policies. Auto Owners never sent anyone out to our store to look at the damage, because they had no intentions of paying our claim. Some government entity needs to take this pile of garbage out of business.

      Filed a claim today. Told adjuster that roof is leaking. I was told they can inspect but wont pay for anything if roof doesnt have damage. All I know is the roof is leaking. Crap insurance but they are no different from rest. They all want your money and then ******** Just sad. Rich keep right on getting rich.

      It is the goal of the Company to pay for all covered damage. Our claim representative was correct in stating to our customer, ****. if there is no covered damage to the roof, we won't be able to pay for the roof. We advised the interior damage he mentioned would likely be covered whether or not there was covered damage to the roof. ****. decided to withdraw his claim rather than allow us to inspect. If **** changes his mind he may still pursue the claim and inspection.

      My father passed in June and his car was stolen shortly after. The police recovered the car a few days later and I filed a claim. The adjuster, ******, was a nightmare to work with. Would not return calls/texts timely. They had it towed to a garage and there own mechanic came to look at it and said nothing was wrong with it (after it sitting there for a week). The car wouldnt start and they stated it was due to being out of gas. We had put gas in it so we knew that wasnt the problem. After several calls I finally convinced him to let the garage look at it. There was a problem with the gas line and there was diesel fuel mixed in with the regular fuel. The garage was able to repair it and get it up and running in one day. ****** called me days later with the new information- not once apologizing his mechanic missed the obvious problems. ****** even asked if WE put diesel fuel in it. It was found out in the country with tons of dirt in the tires, so Im guessing they stole fuel from a tractor and put it in the car. Not once apologizing for making us wait all this time- just spoke condescending to **** truly felt that we was pushing us to the back of the line because my father had passed and it was an older car and didnt have much value anyway. He was very rude to me when I asked for the car to be detailed because we had just detailed it and the theft had left it very dirty- lots of trash such as beer cans, kids toys, rolled up old carpet, clothes. Like they had been living in it. He said it was already old and dirty before the theft. I told him I wasnt asking for new upholstery I just wanted it detailed- but he only gave into that after I told him I was writing a review. I would never suggest anyway use this company- I would even tell you NOT to use them. On the other hand, the agent in the office who helped me cancel the rental insurance and make the claim was extremely nice and professional. Her name was ***** at the ***** ***.

      t's been six months and they still owe me money. They don't respond to my emails at all. 6k worth of damage and rental. Pathetic company. 0 stars in reality. Luke L is the agent.

      Terrible company. Claims department does not communicate, they are very slow at getting anything done. Have called the claims adjuster and left several messages with absolutley no response. Even my insurance agent can't get him to communicate. Been over 3 weeks since I filed the claim and over 2 weeks since their inspector came out and totaled my car! Even my lien holder is calling me to ask questions as they have been given the wrong information from Auto Owners.

       have been a customer of Auto Owners for 15 years. I had my home, auto and business insured with them. I had a truck, enclosed trailer along with its contents stolen in November of 2022. You don't truly discover what insurance is like until you have to make a claim. Many months of back and forward to get the claim started, then a lot of receipts required from as far back as 2007. Even with all the proper data required, much of this was dismissed or way under valued. It wasn't until the truck was recovered three months later in Las Vegas that the claim process really started. It was a good thing that the truck was recovered for some proof needed in the claim. Too many details to list here. The adjuster was denying some of claims with a lack of forced entry. Having proof of forced entry helped by out $50K. Since I don't live in the area and wanted to recover the truck. The process of recovery was left to me to deal with with no help from AO! The adjuster of AO just want the truck to be released to CoParts to make it go away in their terms. (Coparts is an auto graveyard where you will never see your vehicle again.) Once the truck was transported to local ford dealership, the process of repairs took almost two months with a lot of back and forward, again no help. Then the value of the truck and repairs started with a lot of low ball offers. If you have been in the market for a vehicle in the last two years, you will know the replacement vehicles are not inexpensive. In the end a lot of effort was made to get the truck back with under valued pay out and totaled title. The truck did not need to be totaled, as repair estimates were inflated. Actual Cash Value is not what you think, it is what you paid and devaluing from there, no market infraction adjustment are made. So don't expect to have enough pay out to purchase a like vehicle with AO. I would avoid Auto Owners insurance if you are looking for customer service and value in our policy.
