We just received a notice that indicates our energy bill will increase by an undisclosed percentage during "peak" hours, between 1 and 3pm and a further increase for the hours between 3 and 7pm. Our energy provider is penalizing us for using energy to prepare dinner during the hours most households are probably engaging in oven and dishwasher use. I personally suffer a digestive condition that requires I eat prior to 7pm or sign up for a very rough evening.Ostensibly this change is an effort to "protect the future" by reducing emissions.I have two problems with this;1: I was given no forewarning or voice in a massive paradigm shift in how my energy bill is calculated. I did not have the opportunity to opt in or out of any kind of energy saving program.2: The onus of protecting the environment while an energy company provides energy services should be on the energy company. Not the customer. This is brazen, anti-consumer, and should not proceed without protest lest we leave room for an even bolder attempt to price-gouge customers in the future.Thank you!

I am a 1 person home and I have an ALL ELECTRIC 2023 brand new ******************************************* *******, ** *****. My furnace is Intertherm/Nortek E7 series 240v 53,000 BTU electric furnace without an AC unit installed. After having my electrical bills from the first day of service being way to high for my situation I have have run the gauntlet. I have.I have taken videos of the meter outsidedec thru april ** takes 1 minute to make 1 rotation with all the normal stuff on and in use. ** takes 1 rotation every 3 seconds when the furnace kicks on and the furnace runs for 5.5 minutes once an hour with my thermostat set at 70 when it has been 31 average degrees outside. The ************* smart meter shows 7.2 ***** per rotation which equals ***** KWH per rotation (and my meter is stating 1 rotation per minute without the furnace) SooMath of my homes average usage and cost per month WITHOUT Furnace .(according to my meter)(1 rotation per minute) ***** KWH per min xs 60 minutes =s **** KWH per hour then **** x 24 hours =s ****** KWH per day then xs 30 days =s ****** KWH per month @ $0.12 per KWH total monthly bill would be $37.32 Math of my homes average usage and cost per month WITH ONLY Furnace .(according to my meter)(1 rotation per 3 second/20 rotations per minute) 5 minutes once an hour xs 24 hours =s 2 hours total running time per day (in winter)***** KWH xs 20 rotations =s **** KWH per minute xs 120 minutes per day =s ***** KWH then ***** xs 30 days =s ****** KWH per month @ $0.12 per KWH total monthly bill would be $62.21per month THEN add them together for a total of ****** KWH per month xs $.12 =s $99.53 AVERAGE monthly bill (before taxes and fees of course)But my bill consistently says im using between **** KWH and **** KWH per month THIS IS ALL BASED ON THE VIDEOS AND METER READINGS and PICTURES I HAVE TAKEN !!On a minute, hour, day monthly basis but my bill NEVER matches what my meter is saying!!!

i could rate it zero stars if i could. how does my usage not affect how my bill is calculated. what do you MEAN you can charge me whatever the h*** you want just because it is winter. i keep my usage at sustainable levels and you don't account for that. io want my bill lowered and you wont even do it. absolute joke of an energy company. you dont care about the poor or energy conservation at all because im paying the same bill as some rich dude blasting his aircon at 5 celcius in 42 celcius weather. when it is WINTER and i had my heat off at temps above 0c. i even KEEP MY LIGHTS OFF. WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME???

XCEL Energy estimated my electric bill for six months, did not inform me that the monthly bills were estimates or tell me the reason for the bills being estimated instead of being accurate and then sent me a bill for $464.10. This has placed a financial hardship for me as I am retired and on a fixed income. Company supervisor acknowledged mistakes were made on their end but stated **** would not be reduced. I have been a loyal customer for at 20 plus years but I feel this company refuses to take responsibility for errors in their meter reading process and billing processes.

An unchecked monopoly operating with impunity, notorious for unabashed price gouging. If there were other options for energy in the area these guys would get left in the dust. Greedy overcharging company that needs to be broken up.

Xcel is a greedy money hungry utility. Their #1 priority is to ******************** Their business practices are designed to mis-inform, mislead, deflect and **nfuse customers. What company do you know of would send a paid technician to your home, install a product on your ********** heater to lower payments to the provider ** for FREE? IE: Xcels "Energy Saver Switch". Ex #2 - "Renewable Connect" program IMPLIES if you pay a little extra, you'll be doing your part in green energy by purchasing solar from Xcel. Problem is - that is misleading to customers who are lead to believe that if they pay extra they're getting solar power from the grid. Survey say "X"! More BS.Thinking about solar for your home - sorry *********, Xcel feels that if they allow too many solar projects it will have a negative effect on their profits. This ISN'T an assumption, this is a FACT ac**rding to their field reps (who are the ONLY honest folks working for Xcel) They delay approvals for **nnecting to the grid, they DENY approvals stating that grid in your area can't handle capacity. - Funny installing solar panels to a residence LOWERS PRESSURE on the grid. Again ac**rding to Xcel field reps. ********************** is Minnesotas' Biggest Con Job. They raise rates, rake in huge profits then cry poverty to the state for funding of projects. "The grid is overwelmed" - why didn't they invest some of those profits? Ac**rding to field techs "grid is in excellent shape" mgmt just like the sympathy from the public. Again BS.Someday the ************************************* will stop drinking Xcels Koolaid and realize this is a scam of major proportions. ******** is already having an instate civil war over Xcels practices and something is going to break & soon.

Double charged account this past month, then declined to credit account. Not to mention exorbitant energy rates that are unduly burdening taxpayers while Xcel ***** in a windfall. Will gladly join class action lawsuit, had a lawyer stop by the house last week wanting us to sign.
