1 starThey will not stop calling me. I've tried everything multiple times. They won't get the hint. I already have health insurance. I guess this company thinks, if they harass you enough, you'll join.Review fromDerrick F

This place may be a SCAM insurance company. I'm honestly not sure. I signed up with Freedom life insurance for medical coverage while moving across country. They are lucky to be getting 1 star. During the sign-up period I spoke with agent over phone for several hours; he seemed friendly at first. I get signed up THINKING my family is covered.. only to get a letter in mail weeks later stating my wife was DENIED coverage. The agent never called; nor did I get an email. I called agent and text him and he never replied. The denial was due to a misunderstanding in her history that underwriter nor agent never bothered to clarify. They just drafted money from my acct and denied my spouse medical coverage. Totally UNETHICAL and it was something I did not expect. It should be ILLEGAL. I tried to have wife added on after the issue was clarified and they still denied her. A truly TERRIBLE experience!! Be warned.. if you are looking for medical insurance options.. look elsewhere! Also took my daughter to ER for viral illness.. nothing crazy and I get an ER **** as if i don't have insurance. I call Freedom life and they have her age as 14 when she is only 4 years old. Not sure how they confuse something as clear as a Date of Birth. This is why I am concerned this company is dishonest and is potentially a scam. I gave them the potential to remedy these issues multiple times and they failed miserably.UnitedHealth Group

We’ve had an opportunity to review the comments provided by the reviewer above and provide the following in response.
Our records show the reviewer applied for family coverage under six (6) plans offered by our Company. These plans include our Secure Advantage Specified Disease Plan, Secure Advantage Accident Only Plan, Secure Advantage Health and Wellness Plan, MedGuard Critical Illness Plan, SecureDental Plan, and our Accident Protector Plan. The Specified Diseases/Illnesses and Accident Only Insurance Plans are “excepted benefit plans” under the Affordable Care Act (“ACA”) but are not considered “minimum essential coverage” under it. Therefore, they are not governed by the terms of the ACA and the application for coverage is subject to underwriting approval. The availability of benefits is subject to the definitions, provisions, exclusions and limitations of the Certificates.
Upon review of the application, our Underwriting Department determined that medical records were needed to determine if the reviewer’s spouse met the Underwriting Guidelines to issue coverage. Our records indicate that the writing agent was notified of this fact, and he provided authorization to issue coverage, with an effective date of June 20, 2022, for the remaining family members, while waiting on the physician records for the spouse.
Upon receipt of the medical records, we determined that the spouse did not meet the minimum Underwriting Guidelines to issue coverage. A letter was sent to the reviewer to notify him of our decision.
The reviewer contacted our Company on June 24, 2022, to advise that he had not been informed of the partial decline and requested to add his wife to the coverage. On July 6, 2022, the reviewer was advised that additional medical records would be reviewed. After reviewing the additional medical records submitted, it was determined that our original decline of coverage would be upheld, due to information provided in the records.
As a result of the reviewer’s comments, we felt the need to contact his writing agent for comment. The writing agent states that at the time of application, he discussed the reviewer’s options for Health Care coverage, including his options through the Health Marketplace. He explained that the coverage he was applying for is individual coverage, it is subject to underwriting approval. The agent further states that he advised the reviewer that this is not guaranteed coverage and there was a chance that one of them or all of them may be declined. He asked the reviewer if he still wanted to proceed with the initial application and he said “Yes”. The agent then asked if there was any reason they would not want to proceed if there was a partial decline, and the reviewer assured the agent that no matter the outcome, he was happy with this coverage and would want to move forward. The agent states that it was his understanding, that the reviewer would find an alternative option, if there was a partial decline, but to move forward with whoever was approved.
In reference to the reviewer’s comment regarding the incorrect date of birth for his dependent child, our records indicate that the date of birth provided on the application was 10/04/2008. As a result of the additional information provided by the reviewer, we have corrected the date of birth in our system.
Thank you for the opportunity to address this matter and we hope that we have adequately addressed all issues raised in the reviewer’s complaint.

This company deserves zero stars for so many reasons. Not only could I not get one prescription processed and sent, there is just a ton of conflicting information coming from the system and their reps about what is covered and what isn't. United is by far the worst "insurance" company I have ever dealt with, and, honestly, if I had been in a situation where I needed my meds to survive, I surely would have died. Both **************** need to to be investigated and shut down. ******** for all, now!UnitedHealth Group

This has got to be one of the most incompetent companies I have ever dealt with. I have MI ********* I tried to set up a specialty medication account for one of my meds that I needed transferred from ******************* and after 1.5 hrs on the phone we got it set up. I then needed a nonspecialty medication set up and the lady gave me a number to call for that department. I called and the lady on that line put me on hold for 40 min to try and reach the Rite Aid I needed it transferred from. After 40 min the lady was gone and I had to call back again. I called the same number they said they couldn't verify my ********* that the number was under someone else's name, and call ******** and verify that I even have coverage. I've had coverage for over a year, and just refilled a prescription. I called ********* they said there were no problems. I called the same number back and was told this line only dealt with ******** and not ******** and to call a different number. I called that number and was told to call the number I had just called because they were the correct number. I called the line back and they said again they only dealt with ******** and to call another different number. I did and that number was a non-working number. I then called the original number and talked to a supervisor who said they couldn't verify me and only found a discount card for me. I don't have a discount card. I called the specialty line back and they transferred me to another person who had me call ******** again and then told me the ******** I called with the wrong one and he would wait on the line with me while I set up a three-way call. When the ******** number answered, he had already hung up. After explaining the situation to ******** they informed me Optum wasn't even contracted with them in the first place and should have told me from the beginning. They said the specialty pharmacy was contracted with them either. By the end, it had taken 7 hrs to hear they weren't even contracted.UnitedHealth Group

United health care the short-term disability, very hard to explain how horrible this is. they make your doctor send medical records multiple times, they will not process the information and claim they do not have the records, the only objective is not to pay or delay payment. if you call, you will get the runaround, and an uninformed person will call you back and make up any senseless excuse for not processing your claim.government should get involved in this type of corporate behaviorUnitedHealth Group

***************************, NPN# ******** sent me a text with his business card, and a sales gimmick. I asked for him to stop contacting and any further contact is considered harrassment. After 3 more times of him contacting me i contacted local law enforcement. He said I don't know how to complain properly and continued contact. I have also made a call to Attorney General and will be filing a complaint with the ************** of Insurance. He is using a ******** line to call me but his business card had a different number. 1 starIf I could give a negative I would. They take NO accountability and cannot get anything right. Once again I am a month into trying to get a prescription filled, already had to go get a thirty day supply. My doctor is even getting upset with their lack of doing their job. What do you do. What has our world come to?Review fromTom V

1 starOptum Rx is absolutely horrible. I cannot get my Specialty Pharmacy prescription filled and have been working with them since January 2022 to resolve it. Today I contacted my employers HR department for assistance. I'm sure my employer got a deep discount to use this pharmacy option, but if productivity goes down due to increased illness or worse how much did you save? Stay away from Optum RX!
