1/15/24 at 9:45am I went to Plaza tire to get my power steering pump fixed. I was quoted a price of $703 including labor. At 1:00pm *************************** the manager at the location contacted me and told me that the power steering pump was ok but the hose was leaking. He said the hose plus labor would be about the same price he quoted me on the pump. I called ***** *********** to get another quote and they said it would be $699 and it usually takes about 2-3 hours to fix. Since my truck was already at Plaza Tires I decided to let them fix it. ******* assured me that it would only take a couple of hours to fix. I never received a call Monday so I contacted ******* Tuesday morning. He said he ordered the hose, there was only one technician available and that he stayed until 8pm. Wednesday I received a text message from ******* at 11:00am saying my truck was ready. I arrived at the location about 11:30am and received a bill for $756.11, I asked ******* if I could get a discount considering that I had to wait 2 and a half days for a job that only was supposed to take 2 hours? He rudely stated I couldve charged you moreBusiness Response

On 12/29/2023 I took my 2018 Jeep Renegade to Plaza Tire in Metropolis, Illinois to have the right rear time repaired as it had a nail in it. After the employee removed the tire, he got me from the waiting area, pointed to the brake caliper and told me my brake pads were in need of immediate replacement to avoid damage to the brake rotors. I initially told him to proceed with the repair and he quoted me a price of around $169, but when I found out the parts would have to be sent over from Paducah, Kentucky I remembered I had to take my wife to an appointment later that day and would have to bring my vehicle back another day. The employee agreed and cautioned me not to wait too long to prevent further damage to the brakes.
A few days later I decided I am perfectly capable of replacing brake pads as I have been a mechanic myself for most of my life. I purchased a set of new brake pads from a parts store in Paducah and proceeded to perform the repair on 1/6/2023. When I removed the brake calipers and pads, I immediately realized there was no need to replace the pads as they are barely worn and have many thousands of miles of life remaining. I also realized I was nearly ripped off by the Plaza Tire employee, and would have been had I not postponed the brake service. I took photos of the brake pads and showed them to my daughter as a witness
I am a 77 year old veteran, and it really angers me to think I was nearly scammed by a local business. Rest assured I will NEVER patronize that business again and will share my story with everyone I know.
They did repair the flat as I had road hazard insurance on the tires, but they did not properly inflate the other tires so I drove around with the low-pressure warning on until I got home and properly inflated all the tires.

When the customer contacted us we contacted the dealer to find out was wrong with the customer's vehicle. After the dealer performed a diagnostic inspection it was determined that the timing chain had broke causing the engine not to run. The timing chain has no relation to the oil change, therefore the service we did was not related to the timing chain failure.Customer Answer

Went and got two tires and oil change , the next morning I noticed oil was leaking out real bad. Took truck back to plaza they then topped it back off , oil continued to leak out . The forth time of taking it back an employee informed me that it was a piece gone out on my truck. Contacted corporate office they had truck towed to a i town shop where they stated the oil pan was busted maybe hit by something. The cover of the oil pan had absolutely no damages to it . Plaza never put a sticker for oil change in windshield. He stated it was a rushed job and he just forgot about it. Instead of them owning up to there mistakes they refused to pay for damage that was done. My truck is a 2022 and cost a lot of money for someone to make a mistake and not own up to it . Store manager **** is very unprofessional , when contacted by my husband he begin to show aggression. I think the company should have paid for oil pan replacement, viewing of the cameras should have been watched at least to see if it cleared them from damages caused . When I arrived for oil change and tires they were really busy , it could of simply been them hitting the curb that it was parked on or anything. I was informed by mechanic that they should have known it was a oil leak after looking at it instead they blamed it on another piece (turbo) had went out. They put my truck up on lift 4 different times and continued to say it wasnt from oil change. Oil was changed and the leak started immediately after driving off plaza lot. Company should of took ownership,Business Response

The customer's car started leaking oil over a month & over 1000 miles after the oil was changed. upon inspection by another shop they determined that the leak was from the oil pan which had been damaged by being hit on something. we did not damage the customer's oil pan it was damaged after we performed the service. we have attached a copy from the other shop.Initial Complaint

I purchased 4 new tires from plaza tire. All 4 tires were Discovered to be defective, ( this is documented with photos, qualified witnesses, and I retained one of defective tires) . I returned to Plaza Tire for service, After 3 hours of waiting for service ( didn’t have that wait when I purchased tires) I was approached by tec (later learned was store mgr) and told the tires were safe and his advice was to keep tires, if I wanted he could see about some credit towards another set but it wouldn’t be much, again assured me they were safe and they would watch them during future rotations at shop. I left plaza tire, and purchased 4 new tires from another tire store. I returned to Plaza Tire on or about 8/21/2023 and talked with manager ( this is when I learned he was the one who worked on car originally) . I expressed my complaint with him, he assumed no liability on his part or companies, all liability was on me and the other witnesses on tires were dismissed as “ just wanting to sell me tires “ . I asked for supervisors name and phone #. I was informed he would forward my name and number to him and he would call me if he wanted to. I have received no phone call yet. On or about 8/28/2023, I called corporate office and talked with customer service about issue and was assured the regional supervisor would contact me. I have received no call as of 9/07/2023 to resolve issue. The tires in question are separated between sidewall and tread. You can see it in the pictures, and on the tire I retained. I was sure the company would have wanted to know about this problem, and to have been able to have the chance to correct a major safety issue. The Manager, Supervisor, and regional Supervisor have proven to me they have no regard for accepted business practices or the safety of my family, otherwise those tires would have never left Plaza Tire on 8/21/2023.

Business is requesting pictures of tires as response ? Business and Manager seen tires and didn’t take care of safety issue as stated in original complaint. This is an unacceptable response and a stall tactic. I have requested that someone other than store manager contact me about this issue, I was told by corporate the regional supervisor would contact me, no one contacted me so I made complaint to BBB. I am very confused as to a business that would send customer on Missouri State Highways with tires that are separating, try to mislead me and tell me this was normal in these tires, especially considering business is approved as a Mo safety inspection provider, and no one will contact me.I am also confused as to why Store Manager mislead me about tire manufacture as well, I’m waiting on return call from tire manufacture before I turn matter over to National safety and transportation board on tires as well as Mo State Patrol. I spent 30 years in retail management, owned business’, employed lots of associates,Handled lots of complaints over the years and believe me this business has shown us so far it is not interested in my safety or my wife’s especially since she drives the car everyday. I can also see that corporate is not interested in taking ownership of the situation or even contacting their customer to resolve this serious safety situation. . So we know at this point the BBB isn’t going to be able to help as business pitiful response dictates, also might why Plaza Tire isn’t an accredited BBB business.
I want to thank the BBB for their effort, I was so in hopes the supervisor would contact me after reading the complaint and we could resolve the matter. The pictures and tire and witnesses will be forward to the appropriate authorities as we proceed in this matter, thank goodness we have governing authorities for situations like this. Thank goodness I have a lifetime of experience in these matters as well as the means and contacts to see it through. Thanks again to the BBB for the effort, I’ve got it from here and I assure it will get resolved.Initial Complaint

Purchased new rims and tires from Plaza Tire Service #66 in Nixa MO. During the purchase I dealt with store manager ***** ******. Plaza Tire had the tires in stock but the rims had to be ordered which could take up to 5 days. I payed for the tires and rims that day invoice ******** for the amount $3510.23.
On July 17, 2023 at 11:47AM I received a call from **** stating my rims arrived on Saturday July 15, 2023 we needed to schedule a time. We agreed Wednesday July 19, 2023 at 8AM. I dropped my vehicle off the night before so they could have the vehicle first thing in the morning.
On July 19, 2023 at 9:53AM I received a call from **** stating we have a problem with your rims, the problem was all the parts were not in the boxes. With several back and fourths and 4 phone calls I decided to go to Plaza Tire and talk with the store manager ***** ******. I arrived around 10:45AM and spoke with *****. ***** asked what do you want me to do? I believe he wanted me to solve the problem, I suggested give 10% off for the hubs and have them overnighted to Plaza Tire in Nixa (10% was a $150 pay back on my card). ***** agreed and they continued the work.
July 20, 2023 I stopped in to see if the hubs had arrived. I was informed by **** no that they were in Fenton MO. I then spoke with ***** and asked about the overnight and he stated overnight does not mean next day. I then questioned that statement and while sitting in his chair from across room stated I'm washing my hands of this problem. I then asked ***** to step outside so no other customer could hear the conversation. I then questioned the overnight delivery again and ***** stated I was being an inconvenience, mentioned my age and that I should know better, I don't know how business works.
I also Spoke with a ***** ****** on July 20, 2023 as his response was what do you want me to do.
I would like someone other than the people mentioned above to contact me for a solution.Business Response

On 7/10/23 I brought my car to Plaza Tire St Charles, Old 94 for check engine indicators. On 7/11/23 I was called and told my car could be fixed for 1671.90. I accepted the estimate and was called later to pick up my car. Upon leaving I noticed there was still a check engine light on. I called and was asked to bring the car back. After a 30 minute wait someone went to my car where it was parked and cleared the indicator. Immediately after that someone else came to tell me that now my car had a new issue and could be fixed for another fee.Business Response

The issue happened on June 29th, 2023 at the *****, ** Plaza Tire Service, Inc. location when my wife had complained that one of her tires was either low or flat. The tire in question was also bought on April 20th, 2023 with a tire protection plan at the same location. Shortly before the issue happened, she mentioned that the car was shaking again, similar to the last time it had a knot in it. It was likely this one also had a knot in it. Since she was nearby, she went to Plaza Tire Service, Inc. as it was also the place the tire was purchased. When she went in, she complained only about the 1 low tire. They then proceeded to essentially hold her hostage there, saying they have to prevent her from leaving because they felt the vehicle was unsafe. They lied that the other 2 tires were in such bad condition that they needed replacing. As the repair was underway, they told her they had a deal for tires for her car for about $65 each. The tires ended up costing $188 each! Also, the warranty I had mentioned earlier was not respected. Thus, none of the tires were replaced under warranty. If they had done what they were supposed to, the job should have only cost around $38.47 plus tax with the warranty covering the tire. However, they charged us $732.43! Also, to make matters worse, the salesperson had a very cocky and condescending attitude towards her. He was pressuring her to pay the amount, even though she felt things were not right. I also noted that we are not the first ones with this same issue at the same location. Another customer had a very identical situation to ours, almost around the same time that week.Business Response
