I purchased 2 boxes of 48 Rayovac Batteries. I used half of them in robotics remote controls for my school. Both boxes of Rayovac batteries leaked. They destroyed (made inoperable) 6 of my remote controls, whose replacement cost is ~$50 each. I went through the warranty process on the Rayovac website, and Rayovac is sending me a check for $21 for one package of batteries. I am out $350 for 6 remote controls and 2 packages of batteries.

My desired resolution is either an additional $300 to replace my remote controls or for Rayovac/Energizer to purchase them for me.

      Dear BBB,

Thank you for informing us a complaint has been filed. The Consumer’s claim was denied due to disposing of the batteries that leaked in the device not allowing us to thoroughly evaluate the claim. We did compensate the Consumer $21 for another package of batteries the Consumer made a claim on did provide us with all the information needed. Energizer feels this claim was properly denied and we consider this matter closed.

      Sincerely,

      Energizer

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

Energizer did compensate me $21, as they stated (however, I have yet to receive that check).  I have still suffered financial loss to the amount of and additional sum greater than $300 due to defective Rayovac batteries.  I understand that Energizer considers the complaint closed, but that does not mean that I am satisfied.

Defective Rayovac batteries caused me approximately $340 in loss:  $40 spent on batteries and $300 in equipment.  Energizer is happy closing the case with a reimbursement of $21.  This is simply not fair, nor good business practice.  Why should I be satisfied with $21 when my losses are $340?  That is why I am rejecting this response.  I want it known that Energizer is not a good business to deal with and they will do everything in their power to weasel out of paying their justified warranty claims.

      Sincerely,

We are sticking to the denial due to the Consumer disposing of the batteries and allowing us the opportunity to further evaluate.

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

Energizer did not 'analyze' the defective batteries that they claimed to refund me (still not received).  I asked no fewer than three times where to send the old batteries for them to analyze, and each time they did not address this request.  The defective batteries came from the same batch as the ones that I sent pictures of...they were the same batteries, with the same expiration dates and the same manufacturing codes.  They do not "analyze" defective batteries, otherwise they would request them to be returned for analysis.  They merely look at expiration dates, manufacturing location, and a code printed on the batteries -- all of which I have provided them.

The Product that was damaged by the leaked battery is RPNB Portable Gun Safe Digital this item stopped working and when I looked inside on 5/7/23 one of the AAA batteries had leaked front and back of the battery and it got into the electric part of this item where the batteries go and now it will not longer work at all. This safe is maybe opend 2 or 3 times in a month with the digital keypad which is powered by the battires. The batteires had been installed for 1 month. I tried cleaning the leakage from the battery off the device as you recommended but it will still not work. The issue here is I followed all the directions from the agent when I first called in and they told me as long as I had pictures of the damaged battery then I did not need to retrieve it from the trash. The issue now is I submitted all the photos and now you say I need pictures of the other batteries that were in the device even know they were not damaged well I can get pictures of the undamaged battery’s since they all Were disposed of and I was told I did not need to dig through the trash to get them as long as I had a picture of the damaged battery the cvs rep on the phone said nothing about 4 batteries at all.

When I called customer service originally they told me since the batteries was in the trash that they did not need me to get them out of the trash which I could have. I do have detailed pictures of the battery which I have provided previously from them they had all the information from the leaked battery that would be needed. I feel like the company is trying anything they can not to take responsibility for the damage the battery caused to my item. Pictures do not lie I have very detailed pictures.

Thank you for providing us with the Consumer’s feedback. We
pulled the recording of the call between Mr. ****** and our agent to thoroughly
investigate Mr. ******’s claim. Our agent advised the consumer to not dispose of the product until he gets a resolution from our end, however, the consumer said that he threw away the batteries. The agent also asked the consumer if he could retrieve the batteries, but Mr. ****** stated they were in the trash, and he would have to dig through the trash to retrieved them and this was something he was not willing to do. Mr. ****** assured our agent he had all the images that were needed and there was no need to retrieve the batteries. This is my second attempt at redeeming a reward through their rewards program as promised for purchasing over $20 worth of batteries. I did not get my first one until I had to make a complaint here and a month later when I got enough points to make another redemption the same exact thing is happening. No payment no communication just a confirmation number and a middle finger from Energizer. They outsource their customer service for this rewards program to **** and blame **** for any faults however their brand name and their website is on the promotion literature and signage so I don't know how they expect to pawn off blame onto a third party scapegoat when it's their promotion. YOUR CONFIRMATION NUMBER IS:
      ************************************ (This is my 2nd $5 ****** redemption from Feb 8th).

Here's my first complaint 1 month ago.

Energizer is running a promotion where you can get rewards point for purchasing their products. I submitted my purchase on Dec and was given confirmation number ************************************ and redeemed points for 5 rewards in ******. To date I still have not received and no one will respond to my emails. FALSE ADVERTISING. Large cardboard display in many stores advertising this "rewards" program. I know it's only $5 but it's Energizer....come on, do better - pathetic.

This is about a purchase of defective batteries that the company will not refund without requiring excessive information from the purchases. Batteries were damaged in the unopened package. Purchase was an online order from ******* in July, 2022. I purchased ********-packs of Rayovac AA batteries online and the order was delivered to my house. I put away the batteries and opened one pack and began using them. Until this week, I did not have reason to look at the other batteries, until I needed them for a remote control. I went to open a new pack and discovered one was leaking white powder inside the package.I looked at the other package and saw white powder leaking from a battery in it, as well. I contacted Rayovac at their online "contact us" page (***********************************) and did not hear from them. I then emailed them directly using the email address provided on the same page **************************************************** and told them of my issue and asked them to advise. They asked for photos of the batteries. I provided the photos they asked for except for the individual ones to show the date of manufacture. I looked at a different battery (from the third pack that was already opened) to try to find the date and could not. They said they could not help me unless I sent them that specific photo.I phoned them and spoke to a customer service rep and she said that a photo of the battery was "mandatory". I told her I was not able to take the photo, and said she could send me a shipping label and I could send the batteries to them to see directly. I also said I wasn't asking for a refund, I just wanted to help them find the source of the issue (i.e. was it the store or the manufacturing facility). She said I'd have to pay postage, which I am not willing to do. I would like a refund now, but they are refusing to provide one, even though they have a 10-year guarantee and a "no hassle" guarantee. Attached are the photos they asked for AND all correspondence.

I wanted Energizer to refund me (according to their no battery leak guarantee warranty) the
damage done to my maglight flashlight by their batteries. But after 2 attempts of
information exchanges, they still refuse and gaslight the issue. I sent them 3-4 pictures
with the damage and visible serial numbers of the leaking batteries and they don't even call me back.
They say they want more pictures and keep wasting my time pushing false warranty advertisements.
It's a small irritating problem, but you should know that they will not refund anything no matter what proof you have. False advertising.

[I give BBB here my written authorization to share my contact information with them so they know
      which customer is complaining exactly.]

      Hello,

Last July, when my voice recorder wouldn't turn on, I opened it up and was surprised to find that the battery had leaked, even after only a few times of use in less than a year. Energizer has a No Leak Guarantee, so I e-mailed customer support and was told on July 11th, 2022: "the designated team is looking into the matter and we will get back to you with a proper resolution as soon as possible. We will try our best to accelerate the process and you will receive a reply from our side as soon as possible."

I never heard from Energizer again. I asked for an update on September 23rd, and again on November 4th where I mentioned having to escalate it to the BBB, but didn't get a reply both times. So here we are.

I am rejecting this response because:
They Have not been in contact with me. This is a lie.  I also have evidence and can prove that they sent it to a PayPal email address other than the one I provided.  To be clear, they sent it to me or what they thought was me, because they sent it to the email address that I am using here. However if you look at the confirmation number that I received and the information I provided for that redemption, I specified a email address ****************** specifically because this email address is linked to a broken PayPal account and cannot be used to create a new one. So the people who sent the payment didn't do it on time and they didn't even send it to the right email address that was requested. They haphazardly issued the payment once a complaint was made. This is not good business. Please send the payment to the correct email address provided. If you would like documentation I can provide it.

      "Hello ****,
I appreciate the follow up note regarding this and I'm sorry to hear that you aren't able to receive PayPal payments to your personal email address. I've reviewed my records and I'm not seeing a log of the additional email address which you stated in your not to Energizer is associated with your PayPal account. Could you provide me with some additional information on where you provided that email address so I can review that with my internal team and ensure it doesn't happen again?
I can confirm that the payment which was processed to this email address (PII [EMAIL ADDRESS] REDACTED) has been recalled to our PayPal account to be sent to your second email address. While these payments typically take six to eight weeks to be sent, I'm working with our accounting team to ensure that this money is sent to your PayPal account sooner than that. If you have not received this payment of $5 in the next week, please let me know in a response to this email chain; I will follow up on your behalf to receive a new status as soon as I can.
Please let me know if you have any additional questions at all."
      Best Regards,
      ****

I redeemed 2 $5 PayPal deposits from EnergizerGo Rewards. Neither of them appeared in my PayPal account. I have sent message after message to ******* through the EnergizerGo website over the course of a month and I have not received a single response. This is highly unprofessional.
