      Thank you for the opportunity to respond to the concerns expressed by Ms. ************** Meridian Financial Services originally received her accounts from our client, Timeshare Liquidators and TLC Resorts Vacations., on December 23, 2020 for a past due loan and past due Maintenance Fees.

      This will verify that Ms. *************** accounts have been returned and are no longer active in our office.  We have ceased all collection activity on the account. Any questions regarding this account should be directed back to the original creditor.

      Thank you for the opportunity to respond to the concerns expressed by ********************.  ******************** received ******************* account from our client, Promotora Turistica ********** ***** Velas) on December 26, 2023, for past due maintenance fees and a past due loan.

      All qualified debts serviced by Meridian are reported to two major credit reporting agencies *********** and Experian on a monthly basis.  A qualified debt is defined as either an outstanding loan debt, maintenance fees from separate years, or special assessments billed by a client.  All amounts that Meridian pursues are authorized by the documents that the debtor signed to create the debt and/or state law.

      Upon researching ******************** claims, our client provided the attached Contract along with all other related documents that were executed **************************** and **************************** on December 23, 2021, related to his purchase of the timeshare membership through Promotora Turistica ********** Club Velas.

      I am rejecting this response because:
      as stated in the complaint, there is no contract with Meridian financial services -the contract they are referring to is only actionable only in ****** and the courts of ***************-no judgement has been sought In the court of jurisdiction as this contract was canceled in November 2022, and none the less, its not collectible in the *** and thus a violation of the fair credit reporting act and in violation of the fair debt collection practices act.

      Upon researching your request, I have been unable to locate an account within our system given the information provided.  Please note, Meridian Financial Services, Inc. is a third party collection agency located in ************** that specializes in the timeshare industry.  Our office does not have an employee by the name of *******, nor do we utilize the telephone number ************.

      Please note, there are numerous collection agencies in the ************* that utilize the name Meridian Meridian Financial Management, Meridian Financial Solutions, etc.  

      If you feel that we are the correct agency, please provide additional information regarding the account in question, such as an account number and I will be more than happy to attempt to locate an account.

      ***************** using phishing type techniques to extract information without identifying themselves or their business. This is a scam business.Their corporate office at ************ wouldn't provide information but just referred back to their agents or leave a message. No actual human interaction.

      I am rejecting this response because:
      Their initial outreach was duplicitous.  They failed to state their business and their purpose and when I further questioned them, they became abusive.

      I called back to the number that appeared on my phone and the person who answered refused to identify their business purpose

      These practices are in violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act and the Fair Credit Billing Act.  At a minimum, I would expect them to commit to operating in compliance with these Acts, not just say we won't call again.

      If BBB can put some kind of negative notice, it will inform and support other consumers of these non-compliant practices

      Please conduct a thorough investigation into these matters and take appropriate action against Meridian Financial Services **** for their violations of my consumer protection laws. I have not received ANY mail information from Meridian Financial Services **** and I check my mail EVERY DAY. Meridian Financial Services *** placed 2 negative collections on my consumer report without giving me any disclosure for me to dispute/ solve this prior to this going on my consumer reports. There are many lawsuits, and complaints where this collection company violates the law and eagerly place negative accounts without reaching out and sending proper notice. Again I never received one notice about this debt. I never received one letter and they have no certified mail proof receipt that they sent me anything!This company just makes up dates of letters they sent to cover up the fact that they Violated the law by not providing me disclosure, or a chance to fix this account prior to it going on my consumer reports and ruining my reputation. I would have solved the issue before this negative item damaged my reputation. I did not receive proper notification before these collections where placed on my consumer reports. If Meridian Financial Services in fact believes they gave me proper notification, please send me the certified mail receipt with my name on it. Please note that If I was not given the option to dispute this debt prior to this debt being placed on my consumer reports then that is a violation of my rights under FDCPA.

Meridian Financial Services, Inc. received Mr. ********** accounts from our client, ********************* on September 19, 2022, for past due maintenance fees. All qualified debts serviced by Meridian are reported to two major credit reporting agencies *********** and Experian on a monthly basis. A qualified debt is defined as either an outstanding loan debt, maintenance fees from separate years, or special assessments billed by a client. All amounts that Meridian pursues are authorized by the documents that the debtor signed to create the debt and/or state law. Upon researching Mr. ********** claims, it was determined that the required validation notice was mailed via **** to the address provided by our client (****************************************************************) on September 23, 2022, for both accounts. To date, we have not received either of these notices back from the **** as undeliverable. Moreover, seven (7) additional letters have been mailed to the same address for each account attempting to advise ********************** of the outstanding balances. None of those correspondences have been returned as undeliverable either. Please note, under the ***** 1692 requirement that a collection agency provide a written validation notice to a consumer there is not a requirement that the notice be mailed certified mail, therefore we are unable to provide a certified mail receipt. Per request we are no longer actively pursuing collections on either account, however, should ********************** wish to discuss the account further he can reach out to an account manager by calling ************.

      I received a notice that I have a collection from MERIDIAN FINANCIAL SVC on my credit report. It says it was opened on 12/29/2023 for $5,283.00 with account number starting in ******* that I am not aware of nor am I responsible for. I never went into business with this company or signed any agreements with them so they should not be reporting anything on my credit. This is a violation of my rights as a consumer according to the **** and FDCPA.I would like for this collection to be removed asap or I will file a CFPB and FTC report.

      Meridian Financial Services placed 2 collection accounts on my consumer report.I dispute these collections primarily on the basis that I DO NOT have any contractual agreement with Meridian Financial Services! In accordance with my rights under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) I am requesting the official signed purchase, -or- assignment of debt agreement between the original creditor and Meridian Financial Services granting them authority to collect the alleged debt.I am not asking for any other letter, or statement! I would like the contract giving them the rights to place this collection on me! If the requested proof documents are not provided, Meridian Financial Services has no rights to collect this debt, and must cease and stop all collection actions and, cease any reporting of these accounts.

      My rights are completely violated. It is my right to request for the specific documents i asked for. Instead they send documents i did not ask for while continuing to violate the laws that protect consumers. They sent me none of what I requested which is my right by law under the ***** rules for validation of debts.

      The fact that this company ignored my requests, is so disrespectful, disappointing, disgusting, and ridiculous.

      This complaint is more proof Meridian financial service *** is ignorant to the laws of fair debt collection protection act, and I will be seeking damages for their unfair unlawful practices.

      This company leaves voicemails with me several times weekly. At least 5 times. They somehow go straight to voicemail, phone is not ringing. They want me to call them back. Not interested, I've seen nothing but bad reviews about them online. I've never gotten mail or email from this company. I can not block their number since I'm not getting an incoming call.

      The individual calling has said 'Meridian Financial' services, I have deleted all the messages, but will wait to see if I get any more messages.  I don't have an account # because I'm contacted and asked to call back.  The number that the call is from has varied, but I do believe it has been in the **** 828 area code most of the time.
