My name is ********* *****. On the same day I brought my 2020 **** Edge (VIN: *****************) to Take 5 Oil Change Shop #*** for a coolant flush, my vehicle suffered serious engine damage, likely a blown head gasket. Before the service, my car dashboard showed a low coolant warning, but the engine never fully overheated. The technician recommended a coolant flush, which I agreed to. However, hours after leaving the shop, my car began running hot and overheating. I have since been told by a mechanic that this was likely caused by improper service, such as air not being bled correctly from the cooling system.Additionally, routine checks like windshield washer fluid refill and tire pressure inspection were skipped. I filed a claim with Take 5 (Claim #T5C-048097), but it was denied without clear explanation or accountability. I then emailed them back asking for that footage and I called repeatedly and I am being ignored. I am seeking that Take 5 take responsibility for the damage caused and cover or repair the engine repairs needed. This issue has caused me significant financial and emotional distress.

05/19/2025 I scheduled too get my oil change @ take 5 oil change in humble Tx, 5515 Fm 1960. As I arrived too this location they were very professional too an extent. as they performed my oil change the shoped informed me I needed a new air filter never once said I have a oil leaking issues nor have they denied my service due to the issue as I got out the vehicle and went to the restroom and the Shop they performed the oil change with mybrother in the car and had him start the car at least four times before telling him the check engine oil pressure was good as I proceeded to pay for the oil change, the technician ****** at the shop that day said I was all good too go Everything look good, I proceeded to leave as I made it to the parking lot and getting ready to pull out. I noticed my car shaking. but didnt think of it as I drove down the street about a quarter of a mile my car completely shut off, and I noticed oil on the ground at that moment. It was very little drops of oil, but I couldnt really tell because I thought my battery had went dead so I to push my car into my apartments and thats where it never started again I went and got a new battery and put it inside myvehicle and vehicle crank for about 30 seconds before cutting off again then whenever I push the car back, I noticed a puddle of oil under my car. I called the oil change company back and they said they was gonna try to work in agreement with me to redo my oil change, but proceeded-to not do that as I called and called and talked to the managers at that location. They stated to me that it was not their issue and that the problem was not there fault when in fact it was because the take 5 location put the wrong oil filter that was over sizes onto my Buick,I had too sell the vehicle due to the motor being destroyed due to the loss of oil, this in fact is the most horrible experience I ever had would take five I didnt even get a refund after they totaled my vehicle, now Im forced to **** to work

      Hello,

I see that you were able to speak with one of **************** Representatives and file a claim. I would like to get some clarifying information. Based on the notes, you are requesting a refund of the Take 5 Oil Change invoice, correct? Or is there more to the service issue that we have not accounted for. You mentioned that you had to sell the vehicle so I wanted to make sure of the information regarding the refund before we did anything further.

      Thank you,

I got an Oil Change late 2024, October I believe. The worker who was performing the service called the boss while performing the service due to not knowing why my car didnt turn on. After service was eventually fixed, after 3 hours, my car started making a weird noise within the same month. I had my friend look at my codes that started popping up and said they were engine and fuel pump related. I took it to a car shop with all the codes early March. The oil drain plug was loose, making my engine lose oil exponentially. After all of the repairs and replacements, it costed me $500. I contacted Take 5, I put in a formal complaint, was asked for evidence over email and then heard nothing since.

      Hello,

Apologies for the delay. Please see the attached document from the District Manager.

      Customer Answer

      Date: 05/28/2025

I am rejecting this response because: it fails to acknowledge clear evidence of poor workmanship during the oil change. The diagnostic results, check engine codes (P0017, P0341, P0088), and a loose drain plug confirmed by a certified mechanic all directly connect the engine issues to the service performed by Take 5. I was forced to pay $499 out-of-pocket to correct the damage, and I believe this constitutes a valid claim that should be reconsidered.

On 01/20/2025 I went to get an oil change at take 5. They took 3 hours to do the oil change. The tech stated that they didnt have my filter size and had to figure something out. I went to ********* to get my next oil change on 05/14/2025 and they stated the filter housing was stripped and the cap wont go on. This caused all the oil to leak out of my car and my car needing repair. I had my car towed to a body shop and they confirmed the oil pan was stripped. Repairs costed $1300 and my rental $200 approximately.

On August 5, 2024, my daughter brought the vehicle to the Take 5 ***** location for a routine oil change service. Shortly thereafter, she noticed there was an issue and returned on August 29, 2024, for additional service at the same location. The company's internal records will confirm these service appointments under her name and vehicle ************** April 2025, the vehicle began experiencing significant mechanical issues. Upon professional inspection, it was determined that these problems stem directly from an improper oil change procedures performed at the facility during the August 2024 visits. The mechanic's assessment indicates that the damage developed progressively over time as a direct consequence of the incorrect service, which is consistent with the type of engine damage observed.A professional mechanic has examined the vehicle and determined that the engine has sustained severe damage requiring a complete replacement. The damage has been specifically linked to the incorrect oil change procedures performed at the facility. I have documentation from the mechanic confirming this assessment, which explicitly identifies the causal relationship between the improper oil change and the resulting engine damage, despite the time that has passed. All relevant information has been provided to my Case Manager at Fleet Response with no resolution to the claim. Demand Letters were sent to the Store Manager, Regional Manager, SVP of Operations, and the Take 5 ***************** None have responded. Due to the damage to the vehicle, it is completely inoperable and alternate transportation is needed, which is costing our family money each day. I am asking Take 5 to cover the cost to repair the damages to my vehicle from their negligent oil change.

I took my ******* Santa Fe on 2/23/25 to take 5 oil change for my routine oil change. I paid $79.72 shortly after I started noticing oil drops in my driveway and so I took my car back to take 5 on 3/12/25. I made them aware that I had noticed oil on the driveway and so they topped it off with oil and they said that if I notice more oil to bring it back in. On the bottom of the receipt, it says if a problem should arise related to workmanship or product and you are seeking a refund reimbursement and or repair you must inform take 5 oil change immediately by contacting the shop where the services were provided.. I did exactly that. On 4/19/25. I took my car in again because it was still leaking oil. They checked it and they said that there was nothing that they can do about it that they dont touch the oil drain plugs and that they would not take responsibility. On 4/21/25 I talked to *** ***** manager and he said they would not take responsibility for the oils leak in my car. He said they have a company policy not to drain ******* vehicles. I asked him to email me the policy but *** of today I have not received anything from take 5. On 4/23/25 I had to take my car to ******* to get the problem fixed. They found the problem was the drain plug not being tight enough. It cost me $347.79 to get it fixed. I would like to get $429.51 refunded from Take 5 oil.

On April 26th, I was left stranded with a disabled vehicle on the 202 near ******** in ****** due to a negligent oil change performed by Take 5. The vehicle has since been declared a total loss. Over the past month, it has been inspected by multiple auto repair shops at Take 5's request, and all have concluded that the engine failure was caused by a lack of oil. Despite this consistent finding, Take 5 has refused to take responsibility. Their claims department continues to avoid addressing the root cause of the issue. This situation doesnt fall under Lemon Law or personal injury, but unfortunately, Ive also been unable to find any attorneys in ******* who specifically handle cases like this. my family and i are now left without my primary mode of transportation.

May 6th, 2025 @2:40 pm. On the 6th of May, 2025, I went and bought a new car. There were no problems everything was great with the car. I then went to Take 5 Oil Change and before I went the car was riding perfectly fine. It seemed that whoever they had working on my car was in training because you could hear the shop manager directing the employee on what to do with my car. At one point, I saw the employee unhook something looking very confused and was told to leave it alone. Never put the part back together which has led to another part in my car being broken. All they could do was try to fix what they have damaged. I was told that I would receive help and would be reimbursed for the part I needed over the phone. Once I got back to Take 5 Oil Change I was told that they would put in A claim and I would now have to wait but that isnt what I was told over the phone. Now my car is burning gas terribly and I fill it up every 2-3 days whether I go on the highway or not! The part that I need is called a Mass Air Flow Sensor which is $101.99 at Auto zone. I wouldnt be as upset if I wasnt told something totally different on the phone. Ive been suffering coming out of pocket for gas while I only get paid so much. This was a graduation gift that I havent even been able to enjoy because of what Take 5 Oil Change has caused.
