Hello, I recently got an oil change at the local Take 5 located at ***********************************************************************. This was about 2 weeks ago. Recently I was driving my car and got a low oil pressure light instructing me to turn off my car. For reference, my car is a 2022 ***** civic so there arent any internal issues. I swiftly shut off the car and had it towed. The problem is that the tech that changed my oil must have not tied down the drain bolt, oil filter, or oil cap because when I checked the dipstick after shutting the car off, it was COMPLETELY dry and empty. There could be possible engine damage to my vehicle, not to mention a waste of an $100 oil change which I demand to be reimbursed with my vehicle inspected and repaired. I had my oil changed today and when the young man told me the price, I asked him about the $15 off any oil change banner on the front of the store. He stated that was an introductory special and was expired. I pointed out that there wasnt an expiration date on the banner. He stated that they didnt have anything to replace it with and corporate would not let them take it down but he couldnt honor it. Thats false advertising.Business Response

Went to change ********** changed the cabin filter too n since then my ac is making a terrible ********* can't use it in this heat just having a major surgery to go to my drs.Ive gone back n called over n over with nothing done.They said they checked the windshield wipers n cleaned the window n that's false cause my wiper is about to fall off.I want a new filter n whatever they took out cleaned as it should've been.Im tired getting a run around.Im disabled,n have major health problems n on a fixed income n need this fixed as I need my vehicle n not being thrown from one person to another saying I will get a call.Those people are rude n I cannot stress myself dealing with them n when I go there they can be heard talking about me to other customers.Business Response

I see that ************** sent this customer an email on 9/25 due to not being able to get a hold of this customer by phone. The notes from the ********************** shop state that there was a large rats nest in the air filter box. This is why this issue is being investigated. I am rejecting this response because:
They should have taken all the trash out if they knew trash was left in back of the filter.They told me they have no way to succession the rest of the stuff out so I had them blow it out n still no results. They then put a bent up filter in there n made it worse.Told them I didn't want that bent up filter they tried to force in there.It was NOT a rats nest it was just a very dirty filter, strange but for always going there I was NEVERasked about changing it.They didn't even check my windshield wipers. They have messed up so many vehicles at this location. I want my $$ back to go n fix my ac right elsewhere.I don't have $150 to just hand them for half ************* to ride in a car with no ac or heat cause they didn't do the job right.Go to ******* n buy a shop vac to **** out stuff on jobs like this.Business Response

On 8-23-23 I went to stop #*** take 5 oil change to do my routine oil change. Ive been going to that company for many years. On 8-27-23 My vehicle engine seized up, started smoking heard rattling and the engine died. I got stranded on the side of the road two hours away from my home. the next day I went to that shop to file a claim and complaint the ** started the paperwork. He informed me later that day after I went to that shop on three separate occasions to get updates. I needed to get to work I had to take the day off of work and lose money . The general manager said his corporate office has an affiliated collision shop that will take a look at the vehicle to see if it was take five oil change fault and they will fix the damages, but they cant tow the vehicle because its out of the city. Which I found a little bit odd because they are the ones responsible for the damages so I had to pay almost $1000 out of pocket to get my vehicle towed and sent to *********** when it got looked at by the mechanic he said the oil plug nut bolt was missing so it was evident they didnt tame it, right and that cause a Oil to drip out and the engine to break. Upon my research, I saw that it couldve been a fatal accident and the engine couldve lit on fire not having oil take five corporate office said they will file a claim on their end and put me in a rental and reimburse me for almost $1500 I spent because I had to get to work somehow Uber, the bus and paying money for rides. The claim was approved 9-8-23 and I was told I should be in a rental that day. Ive been back-and-forth with the district manager and hes assured me I would be in a rental already and its going on almost 5 business days they havent put me in a rental. They have not reached back to me, to give me the courtesy that Ill be taken care of & compensated. Ive been written up at work for missing days and can lose my job. I have taken my car to this place a few times. The last time we took the car there they noticed who ever changed my oil last had damaged my oil pan. We told them that they were the last to change my oil. They accepted fault and directed us to a nearby shop to get it fixed and "rethreaded". The shop explained to us what needed to be replaced because of the damage take 5 has caused. The shop called take 5 to confirm they'd be paying for the damages and take 5 declined to do so and said they'd only be paying for it to be re threaded. The shop we were at said take 5 is known for doing things like this and to go back to them. We returned to take 5 and the assistant manager, ******, told us she would be in contact with her district manager and will get back to us. We filed a claim with corporate and have been waiting for someone to contact us back. We have called the shop a few times and every time we call we get an excuse as to why the district manager has not gotten back to us. ****** says they are on vacation or they are sick. This has been going on since 6/23/2023, it is now 9/13/2023 and I am now due for another oil change. I called corporate yesterday about this and they explained how they still have not heard anything yet. I asked them how they were contacting them and they said by email. I said who are you emailing they said the shop. I don't understand the point of speaking to corporate if they are not even taking me seriously let alone not even getting a response from the shop. I have called the shop yesterday and spoke to a man who is the assistant manager and we setup an appointment for today. Called this morning for a woman to tell me the manager has an emergency and to call her back in 5 min. I called back several times, no one is answering now. It's been two hours. September 11 2023 Take 5 Oil location in *********** *********, address **************** Employe that assisted me informed me the economy oil I previously used was out of stock. Due to this he offered to let me upgrade my oil to the next grade up at the same cost as the economy oil. In exchange I would have to pay him $20 cash. I believe this to be a scam. I suspect he secretly still gives the customer the economy oil because that is what is on the final receipt.Business Response

I went to the new Take 5 oil change location at *********************************************************************************************** on 8/29/2023. They claimed the threads from the oil pan was on the drain plug upon arrival and they couldn't put the plug back in it.. After trying a new bolt and claimed that one also didn't go they suggested they can rethread it then tries to put a completely different plug and put teflon tape around it. now fast forward two week I have a driveway full of oil we tried to tighten the plug ourselves and the oil pan its self is completely stripped from them tapping they also didn't ********** all the way to where the plug just falls out and they also for got the gasket when they put the drain plug on.. im looking at a new oil pan and the cost to have it put on my vehicle. Unfortunately, the customer was informed that the pan was damaged on arrival and noted in receipt. The customer was told to go back to the last shop she had services completer, and the customer asked if she wanted to get towed or let the team attempt to fix the situation. The customer was told is was a temporary fix was made and the customer was told it is temporary and to get home and to get to a repair shop as soon as possible. I have also emailed the customer about this issue.

On July 19, 2023 I visited the Take 5 Hampton location for an oil change. When I left the shop I began to head back home. When I entered the highway a loud noise was coming from underneath my vehicle. The individuals working on my car neglected to fasten the bolt to my catch pan and I had to watch as it ripped off from underneath my vehicle and fly out while driving. I went back to the shop immediately after and spoke with two of the workers who were responsible. I told them I wanted to have it replaced and they proceeded with giving my their shop managers card. They ensured me that by contacting him the next morning it would be taken care of and ordered.I called the next day and the number sent me to their representatives who forwarded me over to the location. I had to leave a voicemail and received no call back for hours so I waited a while and called back. When I finally got the shop manager he was unhelpful and stated he'd have to reach out to his district manager. Since July 19th, I had to call multiple times throughout a 2 week time span and never received a phone call back, no help, and was given the runaround by the representatives associated to the company. I was told that the district manager and even the regional manager have been notified but, have never received a call, email, or spoken with them. It's now been almost 2 month and nothing has been resolved and still no contact from the company. Since this incident I have gone to my dealership on July 26, 2023 to order the missing part and a check on my vehicle. The worker at ***** notified me that the oil change I received from Take 5 on July 19, ************************************************************** my car. I returned to ***** again on August 14, 2023 to have the part replaced. I am requesting that Take 5 make this right and refund me for my visit on July 19, 2023 for $158.97 and for my visit to the ***** dealership to correct Take 5's negligence which costed me another $374.71.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: I have not received a call and If I were called I never received a voicemail to give a call back. In the time period that I was notifying the company I told all of the representatives who I spoke with that I never received a call from any of the managers. If a call happened, wouldn't that have been listed on the notes of my case with their company? None of the representatives every notified me of any attempt given by the district manager. I had also sent an email which never received a response. No representative would even give me and email, contact information, or a name of the manager who would be contacting me. Until proven different, no attempts were done by this company to resolve this issue.Business Response

Oil drain plug fell out on August 7th after having my last two oil changes done with Take 5, all oil lost and engine is severely damaged, undrivable. It's now September 7th and Take 5 has done absolutely nothing to resolve the engine damage to my car, or at least update me on what they plan to do. Repeated calls to customer service have yielded no call backs from store manager, district manager, or anyone from a corporate level. Engine has a bad knock and will likely need to be rebuilt or replaced.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:What Take 5 fails to mention is that they also performed the previous oil change before the evac oil change, where they DID use the drain plug. Take 5 was the last company to touch the drain plug.
Next, My recipe from the evac oil change states that they "checked" the drain plug, and it was "ok". Drain plugs don't fall out after a **** miles of being "checked" unless they are improperly torqued, or someone mistakenly used a double gasket.
So, my receipt shows that they attest to inspecting my drain plug during the most recent visit, but in the BBB response it seems they are trying to say they didn't touch it because it was an evac style oil change? Which is it? You checked it or you didn't?
I checked NHTSA and other sources for any potential design flaws that would cause my drain plug to randomly fall out. My year make and model is NOT under investigation.

I received an oil change at Take 5 located at ********************************************************************* on July 27, 2023 at 11:14 AM central standard time. I paid $128.88 which broken down is $108.88 for the oil change and a $20 tip that I gave to the technician named ******. I began to notice puddles of oil on my driveway as a result of this oil change. On August 26, 2023 I took my vehicle to ************ at Lees auto service at *****************************************. ********** phoned me shortly there after and reported that the leaking oil was a result of the oil change at take five and their negligence. The technician at take five whos name is ***** did not seat the oil filter properly, leaving it unsealed. My mechanic replaced the oil filter, replace the oil that has leaked out of our car and cleaned the engine. I paid my mechanic $70. I have reached out to the corporate office several times with no response. I called twice and was told I would get a phone call back and never did. I sent three emails to the corporate office and never received a response back from those either. I would like a full and complete refund including the tip totaling $128.88, in reading reviews about take five on social media as well as on ****** it seems that my situation is not new to them.Business Response
