      Duke Energy is extremely expensive. My power bill is over $500 this month. I wish there was another electric company in Caldwell county. They should not be allowed to charge so much for a power bill. Highly disappointed!

      We seem to be losing power everytime there is any kind of wind, rain or some other excuse they give us. I know losing power during storms is expected but it's happening all the time, and not just storms. And for the power restore updates, it's a joke. It will be back by 5. When 5 comes, it will be back at 9, than at 12 and on,and on, and on. I wish I had another option. Duke Power sucks!!!!!

      We closed a business account with ********************** on December 4, 2023. We have yet to receive an almost $300 dollar refund for the deposit on the account. We have called customer service four times, and we are still waiting on a refund over a month later. This is a very dishonest practice.

      My family has been utilizing this company's services for almost 20 years. My father and I had something happen to us that has never happened in all this time and provoked me to share my experience. My power was shut off from the 18th of December to the 28th. My father set up a new autopay account (I believe he missed a payment) they never drafted money from the account and let it stack up an entire year's worth of our electric bills. We had to quite literally suffer inside our own home while we worked our butts off to come up with the money to pay all that and get our services reconnected. (My father and I are both disabled and are unable to work incredibly often) Anyway, how dare this company shut off power in the dead middle of winter due to the ineptitude of their own billing department. When we called and tried to resolve this the day our power got shut off we were told our checking account was in the system but not attached to anything... how tf do we call and setup an autopay account 3 times within the year and yet you still don't draft the bills from the account? Either way I'm incredibly upset at this company. When an employee says "Your bill will be drafted at the 11th of each month" I expect that to happen. Suffering due to somebody else's ineptitude is not fun, and that concludes my complaint. Closing statement: "Nobody in this world cares about anybody else. Especially some greedy company and its sad employees who make promises and don't deliver, or even care to". I don't care for any apologies or anything this company could even offer. Just wanted to say my piece, my father and I just took it on the chin and kept going. Besides, living like Cavemen for a few days gave us a new perspective on life, and just how fragile society can be. Thank you for the worst Christmas I will ever experience Duke Energy.

      I am on a plan that reviews my acct every 3 months and adjust payments accordingly. It was due on Dec 28th for 104 dollars. Instead I receive an email on Christmas day they skipped December and will ** me 208 for 2 months in January which could result in an overdraft I'd be responsible for. And forget getting an actual human to deal with. I send an email and they simply reiterate what the previous email told me. No attempt to speak with me to understand their billing practices. Then I go on and read reviews and this appears to be their m.o., they lie or mislead and no one is available to straighten out their concerns. How in the world does this company continue? Oh wait, I know! Money they rack up. Kind of like ******************** in It's a Wonderful Life. Crooked as the day is long and quite proud of it and apparently the BBB or any other entity can do nothing about it. All we want is truth and contact with people to explain their decisions. Is that so hard?

      This company is a no go. My dad pay the light bill and recently signed up for a payment plan to help pay off larger bills. Tell me why all of a sudden your monthly installments increases or changes without your knowledge. Also they breached contract with my dad. I say breach because they are not supposed to disconnect you until 5pm. My dad called them at 8am and said he has to go get the money to pay the bill and he would pay it before 12pm. The customer service representative said "okay I'll make note of it." She did not and disconnected us. When I tell you we were all livid. These people do not care so we gotta treat them the same way. Plus they never sent a notice in the mail. This company deserves to be sued and shut down cause they make these false advertisements saying they care about their customers. They do not care it could freezing cold and they would shut your lights off. Bunch of greedy fat executives.

      Duke energy does same thing every year over charge around December.Guess they can do what ever they want to .your government officials or state officials let them do whatever they want because they don't care about people it's the money.Prove us wrong I talked to 12 people in town today they say their light bills went up around 56 dollars more this month than normal.How can that be they have licence to **** people .It's very concerning it happens all across state **.

      I paid off my entire account for ********************** before I moved and told them in advance my last day living there and they closed my account once I told them that I no longer lived there. I called Duke Energy multiple times after I moved out for the final bill and paid it off and asked them if I owe anything else and they told me that I dont owe anything else outside of what was due. Two months later I get a threatening message from them saying that I owe a remaining balance of $35.60 and that if I dont pay them now then it will go to collections. I even called them and asked them where is this coming from and they stated that they couldnt find where I owe anything.
