      We transitioned to solar panels in 2018 and all appeared to be fine until the past few months when representatives from Duke Energy began pressuring us to change our meter. First, there was a waiver. Then it was a law no representative could quote and suddenly our standard bill monthly becomes $900+ without any notice or warning. They only tell you they can go back 5 months but that rate still doesnt add up. No representative can explain the bill to you without lecturing you to change the meter which for health reasons isnt a kind option and the bills just loop together fees. Solar is suppose to be cheaper. Its suppose to be doing good for the sake of others but Duke Energy makes it feel like it a burden. This is by far the worse service provider Ive experience throughout all the regions Ive lived. They customer service is either rude or unknowing. Their meter folks tell you that those in the offices make us do this. Were being forced to change meters under duress and that is sad how this monopoly of a corporation is treating customers. If they felt our rate was wrong - why did it take 5 years to notice!!!!

      PLEASE BBB INVESTIGATE THESE DUKE ENERGY CROOKS!!! I LIVE IN ************ ** AND HAVE ALWAYS PAID MY DUKE ENERGY BILLS ON TIME...JUST PAID MINE AND MY WIFE'S POWER BILL SATURDAY MAY 20TH 2023 FOR $92.14 OVER THE ***** AND 3 DAYS AFTER PAYING MY POWER BILL IN FULL I NOW HAVE A NEW BILLING CYCLE BILL DUE FOR $88.30??....WHAT THE **** I CAN UNDERSTAND GETTING A BILL EVERY 14 DAYS AND ACCUMULATING A NEW BALANCE ONLY AFTER 3 DAYS THEN GET A TEXT TO MY ***** SAYING IF I DONT PAY BY A CERTAIN TIME THAT IT WILL ROLL OVER ONTO MY NEXT BILL FOR THE NEXT MONTH...HOW AFTER ONLY 3 DAYS AM I GETTING ANOTHER BILL FOR $88.30 FOR AN ALL NEW BILLING CYCLE WHEN I HAVEN'T EVEN HAD ANY TIME TIME TO USE ANY ELECTRICITY?? THIS COMPANY NEEDS TO BE FORCED TO PAY EVERY LAST CUSTOMER THOUSANDS FOR ALL THEIR CROOKED WAYS AND HOW THEY DO BUSINESS IF THEY HAVE TO FOR THE NEXT 10 YEARS UNTIL THE ENTIRE COMPANY CAN LEARN TO DO THEIR JOBS PROPERLY THE CORRECT WAY....PLEASE BBB PLEASE INVISTIGATE THESE CROOKS AND SHUT EM DOWN!!!

      If I can give a zero I will the worst of the worst bad customer service manager rude can even talk to you its like my way or no way I call to complain because my bill keeps increasing even though the house is empty in the day times they claim it is what it is my meter is working find I request for someone to come and check where Im losing power the manager or supervisor Said no they wont send a technician for that because they can see my meter is working they increasing the kilowatts make certain neighborhoods pay more than other neighborhoods I got friends that live in bigger houses and they dont pay what Im paying because their neighborhood is upper income.The government needs to say something Duke energy is stealing from the middle class people they are ripping off people my bill is higher every year even when were not using the electricity its a scam scam!!!!!!! And I told them the reason youre acting like this is because you dont have competition

      Duke Energy doesn't deserve a star. Their billing system is awful. If you have budget billing, they don't print the total cost for the month. You have to add it. I've paid more than what was due, but you can't get a picture of your actual balance.This month's bill says, Due to a system error, your bill was calculated incorrectly for one or more months in 2022. As a result, you are receiving a corrected bill. You may disregard previous bills received for the same billing period (s). They don't tell what was adjusted. I asked for a printout of what was used and what was paid. I still haven't been given the information.

      Over charging me guaranteed! I have solar panels on my house. I have the solar panel app thats says Im producing about an average of 45 kilowatts a day. I have the Duke Energy app that says Im using an average of 47 kilowatts a day. Yet my bill is high every month. This month $232 next month going up to $289. They wont send someone out to see if my meter is right. They see it remotely and says its working fine. Why is my bill so high? Over the winter months I was producing more power than I was using but bill was still high. They are ripping me off !

      **** has been more than patient and accommodating to me during times where I could not pay my full balance. I have never had to call ****, and have been very successful managing my account online.

      The worst company I have ever had to contact. The only reason they are allowed to act this way is because they have no competition, I seriously hope one day we have a choice with which company we get to go through,

      My budget billing plan went up $40 a month! I was charged for the week I wasnt home! I think we are all being scammed! We need to write to our congressman. I reached out for a refund and was told that it wasnt possible. Im not paying for the street lights

      Duke Energy has billed me **** near **** dollars out of a 3 month period. This is ridiculous and then when you call to ask about your bill, I am talking to people who are on a first name basis. I don't know these people. Bottom line is this is not helping the American people. We are paying more in lights than anything else. I can't see how these politician allowed them to hike rates up. Folks have other bills, it makes no sense that we as a nation can't balance the things in our nation. Why is there a renewable energy charge or riders fee. What are they going to do when folks start buying generators instead of paying for lights. The rich aren't getting any of these prices that the poor is getting. We pay taxes in the country only to be spitted on by those that are suppose to help. I don't see how this company is offering a 7**** dollar reward somewhere. Squeezing money out of the working class is not the answer either. They are doing exactly that, and then sit at church on Sunday like they Saints. There should be a better way to balance things out. The rich get richer off of others back. What are they going to do when they cant squeeze no more. Go to Mars. Better hope don't nothing bite ***.

      So I been on the payment plan with them since 2021 in my bill has always been the same no matter how much or less I use my electric being I work alot I'm not home much to use alot so tell me why my bill shot up 21 dollars with no notice of the increase the most it went up for the year was 2$ now I suppose to accept that when I know I don't and never have used that absolutely not
