We are having ongoing issues with "near-dead" Internet. Here are some basics: On Friday January 27th, a technician came to the house because of very slow Internet; he was very rude and he got angry when I asked him about his unprofessionalism. He DID NOT believe me when I told him how SLOW the Internet was and therefore he went to his truck and got his own laptop to connect. Thereafter, he admitted that "it's too slow." After about 1.5 hours of working inside our home on the modem, lines, and down our road "checking out the pylons" and calling back to his office, he said he thought "it was better." He left. However, my wife and I discovered that #1 the service was SLOWER than ever, at **** mbps and that our phone line HAD STOPPED WORKING. Therefore, we had no phone for the entire weekend! When I called customer service to report my probems and ask for a credit, I was given an incredible run-around and finally they told me that "you were given a one-time $15 credit to a previous statement. NO OTHER credits will be issued." When I asked for a supervisor they were "not available." I never received any text or phone call from a supervisor. Therefore, I requested another technician visit our home to FIX THE ISSUES THAT WE FEEL THE FIRST TECH LIKELY DID ON PURPOSE. (Did the first one sabatoge our line and kill the phone?) The second tech, who was a different man because I requested that Brightspeed send out anybody else besides that first Bozo the Clown, arrived on Monday January 30th. He was very pleasant--the dog loved him--and he fixed the phone BUT now our Internet will not even bring up ******** or ***** Fastest speed is now **** mbps. We are a family without Internet but today the bill arrived and I have to pay it in full! DO NOT BECOME CUSTOMERS TO THESE LOSERS.

I agree with the rest of the reviewers. I, too, received notice that my McAfee security had expired 3 days after it expired. I made 8 calls to Brightspeed in one day. 8 calls because I was hung up on, put on hold and left there, transferred back to a department that couldnt help me the first time or told it was McAfees problem (which it wasnt). I have been unable to download the McAfee security from the Brightspeed website. One person told me, on the 8th call, that I should be able to access the download in 48 hours. 4 days later I was told, I would be able to do that by end of day. Today, they dont know how long it will be; but for an additional $10/month, theyll give me Brightspeed security. I was told my Brightspeed service would be the same as my ******************** I had free security with CenturyLink. I expect free security with Brightspeed. I opened a complaint file with Brightspeed on line, but they have stopped responding to me. Not surprised.

i have had phone service for year when bright speed took over, we began having problems with the house phone and internet going out i contacted bright speed several times about the problem i eventually contacted attorney general to file complaint bright speed did send tech. to our house three times the first time we were told that the only thing wrong was we need a new phone. so, we bought a new phone the next day phone and internet went out again so I called back again and was told nothing was wrong. so they came back out this time the guy said he made some changes at the box and that should fix it. the next day it went out again so i called back and again told nothing was wrong, but they sent someone out i was told this time i needed a filter on my phone on inside and that would fix it. again, phone and internet went out again. this time i got my bill and there were extra charges so i again called and i just told them to cut the phone off because it was broken more than it worked. i would cut internet off but i have no other options. i was also charged a fee for paying over the phone. automated. they said that was a mistake. also they were charging me more than normal. i was told this time my bill had been adjusted and would be correct this month so i get the bill and I'm still being charged for a phone that has been cut off i called them back and they told me i would get another bill so i went on the automated to pay my bill and charges still there when i spoke with someone i was told to pay it or there would be last fees and they would reimburse me. they also told the attorney general's office that the phone had been fixed and that it was weather related that is not what we were told. i tried to find the corporate number to speak with them directly and cannot find it. i don't mind paying my bill should not have to pay more I'm hoping someone can help me resolve this issue.

If i could give 0 stars i would. I thought century link was bad. These idiots are horrible. Worst computer generated call open, never understands you and hangs up on you. By the time you get a service rep they are f****** foreigners who barely speak english. Every month i lose internet for 2 days to a week before they band aid the problem. Then attempt to give you new equipment and charge you for support and a technical install when no one comes to your home. What a joke of a company as soon as another service provider comes in the area im dumping this crappy service. Stay away for your own sanity

Took me an hour to cancel my service. Incredibly challenging to get ahold of a human that could help me. Three people took my name, address, number, last four of my social. First two passed me on, third hung up on me. Terrible place to deal with, just like century link.

The absolutely worst. The transition from Century Link to Brightspeed was physically painful. I was hopeful brightspeed would be better than century link because CenturyLink was garbage. I think CenturyLink just changed their name because the website UI and functions are exactly the same. You cannot use half the features on their website such as chat. The support process is so bad that I would rather not have internet at this point. The phone tree/call center is so bad youre just in circles and they get upset if you dont know your account number (who knows that??) problems are actually never solved. They told me I should disconnect all devices except for the ONE I want to use to get better internet reliability. WHAT. the connection is awful, it drops at least once an hour and restart my modem at least twice a day. By far the worst internet company to ever exist and would choose dial up over this company if I had a choice.

We thought century link was bad but since bright speed took over it has gotten so much worse!Impossible to watch and movie without interruption. We bought a internet hot spot that works off cellular since wife and I work from home and its better than bright speed. Just need to cancel and use the hot spot I suppose. This is the worst service I have ever encountered!

Absolutely terrible customer service. Our internet provider switched from CenturyLink to Brightspeed and the switch happened in October 2022. We haven't received a bill since. We have requested a paper bill four times, and still have not received one. They actually said it must be our Post Offices fault that we aren't receiving our bill. We get general advertising fliers from the company just fine. Trying to talk to a person in their customer service department is nearly impossible. After waiting on hold for an inordinate about of time, I was transferred to a "supervisor," and the call immediately went to voicemail. Surprisingly they did call back, only to be put on hold again for another 45 minutes before disconnecting the call.

CenturyLink washy provider prior to Brightspeed. CenturyLink was the worst internet service. I was mistaken to think Brightspeed would improve my internet. I was told by Brightspped they have no plans to improve internet service. I currently have phone and internet(DSL) with Brightspeed. I called Brightspeed and wanted to drop my landline and just keep the internet and was told that if I changed anything with my phone service, my internet would drop in speed from from a dismal 4mb to 2mb download. I was told they don't offer 4mb in my area. I told them that I currently have 4 mb. I was told if I wanted to keep 4mb I would have to keep paying for my landline. That seems illegal. I wish there was a GOOD alternative in my area for internet.

Brightspeed took over CenturyLink in my area. When CenturyLink was my internet I never had issues. **************** was good too. Now it is like having Dialup all over again when it does work.An email from Brightspeed says I need to change my password on their website for my account to continue working but when I tried to reset it the site keeps telling to come back later. I sent them a pm to let them know about it but I never rec'd a reply. So I don't even know if my account is still open since the company switch over and if my auto pay will continue to be paid. What a mess. Brightspeed is a new company set in motion by 3 guys that use to work for ******** Good work guys....you have succeeded in ******* a whole lot of folks off and not providing internet service for us.
