Buyer beware!!!!! They lied about why they did not show up the day that was scheduled. They tried to get me to pay an extra $179.00 they said my municipality required for a wet seal engineering plans. They would not put it where it was supposed to go. Their contract says it needs to be 3’ from the house minimum. I was at 6’ away. The crew that did not speak english. They ****** on my fence multiple times (I have video). They tried to charge me an extra $600 the morning of the install. I told them to load it up and leave if they needed extra money. They were just trying to shake me down. They punctured my main 1” Irrigation line that was clearly marked. The next morning is when we found that out as a 4ft deep sink hole was made by the water line break. In 24 hours I have had 2 tires less than 30 days old ruined because of all the screws they left on the ground. I have to move my gate over since they wouldn’t put the carport where we had planned. We had to hire an irrigation company to repair the line and then pour concrete in the hole so it doesn’t continue to grow into a sink hole. The people who work in the offices and managers are rude and condescending. They offered to pay for the tires but that’s it. They also used materials on my property without asking. Bricks, lumber I had for other projects etc. the $3000 18x30 carport has cost me over $3200.00 in lost wages and repairs due to incompetence and lack of customer service. That’s in addition to the carport. We will be letting a judge determine the final outcome with this scam type company!Carolina Carports, Inc.

We appreciate you taking the time to relay your concerns. The issues you have reported primary revolved around the contracting crew themselves who were on site. In terms of the engineering plans, CCI happily provides customers with generic plans for use that are of no charge to the customer. However, if the county requires a raised seal copy, those are charged for. We charge the customer the exact amount that the engineer charges CCI for the wet seals. We do not profit from that in any way nor do we have control over what your particular county requires. In terms of delays, CCI passes along the information that is provided to us by the contractor regarding arrivals. In this case, we were advised that the crew was running behind due to a flat tire. CCI's contract does not state a 3' minimum although that is necessary for the ladders and maneuvering during install. Our contract does state that the contractors will charge additional labor fees if they have to work outside the normal parameters. In addition, the contractor and you both stated that the spray paint you used on site was to mark where you wanted the unit placed. Once the unit was placed in an area that was not close to the existing structure, there was no need for a labor fee. In regards to the irrigation system, the black spray paint marking the irrigation system was not in the area where the anchors were driven. It is approximately 8-10'' away from the closest anchor so the markings were clearly not placed properly, otherwise the anchor would not have penetrated a line. CCI has offered to send the contractor out to attempt to move the unit over, you have refused. CCI has offered to make sure you are compensated for your tire damage. To date we have received 1 receipt. We are waiting for submission of the other. You have to date refused compensation and requested that all tires be replaced so that they match, however, that is not an option. You may also submit receipt for any materials used that were not inquired about. Once we have the receipts, we will work with the contractor to make sure this is taken care of.Review fromBrandon F

Had a 30’x40’ building built on May 23rd. After I made final payment I was informed that they were short on trim and the building was incomplete. One month later and I’m being informed it should be next month before they are back out to finish it. I paid $4000 more than other quotes for a company I thought had good customer service and a better product. I guess I should have just saved my money.Carolina Carports, Inc.

We certainly apologize for any inconvenience. The contractors purchase the materials from CCI that are needed during the construction of each unit. I have verified that the contractor did report that he failed to purchase and load enough materials. We do have a service order issued. We are typically in each area every 6-8 weeks. Our customer service team is working to expedite and will notify you as soon as there is a route to your area.Review fromSue

In 2020, we ordered a small carport cover. After a year of waiting, we cancelled the order and received our deposit back. We have since received collection notices about this carport that we never received. Hopefully that is now finally in the past.
Next encounter, we purchased a 30x40 garage in December of 2022. No fault of Carolina Carports, but when we sent over our picture of the ready slab, we learned that the garage was never ordered by the company that we ordered from. Finally got it ordered and was installed in May 2023. The 2 main garage doors that Carolina Carports sent, were the wrong size. Carolina Carports called for the remainder of the payment but I declined to pay due to the incomplete job. We were told, "no problem we will get it all taken care of". The 1st part of June, we called to get the status on the doors. We were told that they were in and would be getting them on the next truck out. We called again yesterday (6/19/23). A new person is working our state and told us that it would be August before they would be able to install them. She said that a truck was going out on July 10th but ours wasn't on that truck. This is so frustrating being that we have already waited so long to get things to happen. and the previous representative said that our doors would be on the next truck. We are trying to build a house and need a secure place to lock up our materials and equipment.Carolina Carports, Inc.

We certainly apologize for your frustrations. We do have a service order in place and you are being serviced under the 1 year workmanship warranty. Typically we are in each area every 6-8 weeks. You are currently in a route for July 13/14 per your conversation with our management team.Sue

Worst company to deal with, bad communication, after I sent photos they asked for an additional $600 fee so I agreed because I have a sloped property, I assumed (mistake) they were going to alert contractor to bring or rent equipment to perform job. However they never told contractor, so they showed up 6:38PM and said they could not install. 9 to 10 weeks later the same contractor came and installed the building but I had to supply scaffolding. The building is top quality but Carolina Carports are the worse, not sure how they lasted this long. The independent contractors were the best part of the whole experience but as you know they are not Carolina Carports employees. If there was a choice for half a star that is what I would have chosen. When looking for buildings ask any company your ask for a price if its a Carolina Carport building, I found out after my deposit that the company I purchased from was only a dealer. They were great but CC was the worse. Be Advised.Carolina Carports, Inc.

We certainly apologize for your frustrations. We do collect photos of foundations prior to shipping. We review those photos with our shop and contractors. We attempt to conclude based on the photos if we feel the unit can be installed and if any additional labor will apply. The labor fee is not received or retained by CCI, that is purely a contractor fee. In this case, based on the angle of the photos, an additional labor fee for the crew was assessed. Unfortunately, the photos did not reflect the drastic nature of the slope. The contractor does not haul equipment, they only bring the building as we are not directly involved in the foundation and that is the customer responsibility. We are pleased to hear that things went well with the contractor and will gladly pass that info along to the crew.Review fromB. G.

Worst Company EVER!! The guys that installed my building back in 10/14/21 did a great job, but the garage doors were damaged, so I paid for everything except for the gather doors. I figured someone would come back out to replace them to get paid the rest. No calls no show. I left several messages over a few months and NO response. I had to get another company out to fix the doors so I could use them. Then today, 6/6/23, 19 MONTHS later I get a call from them looking for the rest of their money. LOL are you kidding me?!?! Well over a year, I finally get a call?!?! They are out of there mind. I will NEVER EVER recommend this company to anyone!!! Absolutely horrible business.Carolina Carports, Inc.

We certainly apologize for your frustrations. Our notes do indicate that the invoice has been billed a number of times without communication. CCI was never advised of damage to the garage doors or we certainly would have issued a service order. It is my understanding that you were given consideration for the doors and that the account is now settled.B. G.
Date: 06/07/2023
That is 100% absolutely untrue!! NO ONE has contacted me until last week for the rest of the payment. Both my husband and I have called several times since the install to try to see when someone was coming back to fix the garage doors so they could be used. We even contacted our sales Rep Wayne who had absolutely NO answers as to why we were not being contacted back to resolve the issues with the “new” doors that were installed damaged. I have not received any calls nor invoices. The very first call back was last week almost 2 years later!!! NO service order was issued. I would like this supposed consideration for the doors and proof the account has been settled for my records.Review fromTimothy M

Hello my name is *******. I live in Tennessee and I bought a triple wide carport from North Carolina carports. I was surprised at how quickly they got to me as they told me I could be 30 to 60 days it was a couple weeks and they told me I was scheduled for installation. They told me the team will be there Friday afternoon and probably work on Saturday. The crew arrived from their last job at about 6:30 PM which I thought they were going to just drop off the stuff and come the next morning to put it together but they said no they’re going to do it now! I couldn’t believe it ! these guys were awesome they all knew their job they worked well as a team they worked harmoniously and quickly and by 10 o’clock they had completed the entire installation and it was magnificent! The carport is a very very sturdy well-built unit . Not only did I get the state tiedowns we also got the mobile home anchors installed. Dealing with North Carolina carports was super easy and super simple. I have to say I give not only Carolina carports but their entire installation team 10 stars for being so extraordinary and working so hard to get my carport done ! These guys were completely wore out by the time they got done they had done four of these in a day and they didn’t cut corners it was done right! I am so pleased I stayed home from work to make sure everything went well and after watching these guys work when I order in my garage I’m not even going to be here because they know what they’re doing and the only thing I’m gonna do is get in the way ! They did a great job cleaning up too. They went around with a little roly magnet to make sure they got up any loose screws. Very courteous of our property and our neighbors property. If you’re looking for a carport and you’re on the fence. I was concerned as well at first but after having these people come to my home and do the installation I have no further concerns. Great job team thank you North Carolina carports!Carolina Carports, Inc.

I purchased a 24x25 metal building to go on a concrete pad through alansfactoryoutlet.com which was great, but scheduling seemed to be the most difficult part even from the get go. The installers (Emit and team) did a great job once on site. They were friendly and efficient. However, one of the rollup doors had a busted seam. I am told it will be replaced. I am 2 weeks out from installation and still do not even have an actual ETA. They never call or email to follow up or give updates. Every call I make is at least a 20 minute hold time. I even left a note on the website, which never ever got a reply back. I am now told it will be a couple of more weeks (still no actual date) before a replacement will be delivered, so expecting 4-6 weeks after initial install to replace. If you order from CCI, just hope you have no issues because you will be waiting and waiting and waiting...... (and no options to escalate)Carolina Carports, Inc.

We appreciate you passing along your concerns. CCI works diligently to address customer concerns upon receipt and confirmation of the reported issue. CCI was made aware of this situation when the contractor checked in his weekly work which was 4/12/23. At that time, we begin working with the shop to determine material availability and with the contractor to determine their schedule and next available dates. This can take a little longer than 2 business days to gather this information as the contractors are typically projected out several weeks in advance. We are happy to work towards a service date. We schedule 2-3 days in advance in order to closely monitor weather in each area. We appreciate your patience.Review fromR. C.

Building was built 9/15/22. No bottom trim was installed i was advised from this company they don't seal the bottom on the barn any contractor and myself believes that would mean no sealant between the metal framing and the concrete they say that means no trim. Doors were not set correctly. Trim is anything but straight. Some metal is anything but straight. Close all the doors during the day I can walk around no problem with the amount of light from all the gaping holes . Screw's from the crew were Left everywhere in the driveway to the yard. Ridge cap fell off after investigation there in a 30' span 4 screws were holding the entire ridge down it's going to cost thousands more to fix this correct out of pocked . This is a very poor constructed building company when they get around to it might call you back but u get the same story. Construction crew came back out I was advised by them that is how Carolina carports build there buildings and they seen nothing wrong with the work.Carolina Carports, Inc.

We certainly apologize that the customer feels this way. CCI received photos from the customer. We reviewed the photos and found nothing notable in the photos that would need service. The building does not come with trim around the bottom base area as assumed by the customer. The light incoming is due to the fact that this is a corrugated steel structure, anywhere there is a rib, light can come in. Despite not noting any concerns, CCI sent an inspection crew to the site. The crew video conferenced with our shop manager while on site which confirmed that the unit is installed correctly. In calls and conversations it appears that the customer may have been expecting something more similar to a stick built structure.R. C.

Excuses is all I hear from this company. Notice no response to the ridge cap falling off if they used some of the screws that were all over the drive and yard the ridge cap might might still be on the building. Excuses from the company to there field crews. I'd give this company 0 out of 5 star's. Waste of money. No absolutely no attempt to make any corrections on there work .Review fromMichael B

I purchased a 30x50 building through Eversafe Buildings which in turn subletted out to Carolina Carports. Installed my building early March 2023. No complaints with the building itself it seems to be very well constructed. However the customer service for Carolina Carports is atrocious! The install crew damaged my property with their trailer. Originally was told to get quotes to fix and the crew would pay for it or file it on insurance. It wasn't an absurd amount. $700. I was then told that they were not a landscaping company but they know the quote was too much. I would think after spending $20k+ for a building a $700 repair would be no issue. Obviously I was wrong. A purchase from this company was a huge mistake!!Carolina Carports, Inc.
Date: 04/03/2023
I appreciate you reaching out. I have personally viewed the photos of the single small rut in the yard where a tire went off the side of the drive and the quotes. We have had a landscaping team review the photos who have advised that this would cost less than $150 to correct. We have advised that we are happy to review a reasonable quote or we can file this on the auto insurance in which case an adjuster would provide a reasonable assessment. Our manager was in the process of advising the next steps for that process when you disconnected the call. We are happy to further discuss the claims process should you wish to do so.Review fromRandy S

Ordered a 30x30 garage, it was installed on 3/7/23. The construction of the building is ok. The doors are the problem. They are very cheap in design. They are very had to lock and unlock. This is not due to just being installed, because the so called latches don't really line up. I call customer service on 3/20/23 for the North Carolina area and was basically told that there was nothing they were going to do. I wished that I had never bought this garage from them.Carolina Carports, Inc.
Date: 03/21/2023
We certainly apologize that you feel this has been a negative experience. In terms of the garage door design, our garage doors are tested, wind rated and approved by governed standards. We do install thousands yearly without concerns. If the latches are not lining up properly that would be covered under the workmanship warranty. Management will reach out to gather the needed information to determine if a warranty claim exists and if so, we will gladly expedite a service order. You will hear from someone by days end.
