    On January 2, 2025, I needed to change my address with the ******************************. Because it is virtually impossible to talk to a real person at SS, I had to do it online. The *** website directed me to sign up for a seven day trial subscription with Legal Templates for $1.00, which I did. A Legal Templates document was approved by me and sent successfully to the *** to change my address. I tried a number of times to cancel my subscription within the required seven day period via the website, customer service, and chatbot, but was not successful. Because I could not cancel during the 7 day trial period, my credit card was charged $49.95 for a one year subscription. When I was finally able to contact the company via direct email to explain my situation, I was told to submit a screenshot of my internet history showing the date and time I accessed the cancellation section or a confirmation sales receipt emailed to me on the day of cancellation within the 7-day trial period. These steps were not possible because (1) as an 84 year old guy with limited computer skills, I have no idea how to submit a screenshot of my internet history and (2) I never received a confirmation sales receipt emailed to me on the day of cancellation within the 7-day trial period. I sent snail mail letters to both the CEO and the Customer Support Manager of ********************** LLC but have had no response. Trying to get new customers from people trying to communicate with the *** is a sneaky way to do business. I look forward to receiving a refund of $49.95 for the amount charged on January 12, 2025 to my ********** account.

    I noticed a $49.95 charge on my credit card by three legal which I did not recognize or authorize. This prompted me to reach out to the credit card to stop payment. They notified me that it was a recurring charge and I had been charged $49.95 three seperate times from this company. Turns out that three legal is legal templates which I signed up for a 7 day trial for back in January. After logging into the site, I realized it was not was I was looking for an cancelled the trail same day. I thought nothing of it, since I canceled, never created a username, never logged in, never used the services, yet they help charging me. I never consented to a terms of service, never received a subscription email, or any other email from this company what soever indicating that they were charging me. I reached out to customer service letting them know I never signed up for a membership and that I wanted a refund for the charges I did not approve. They emailed back saying they would refund $49.95 with the agreement that I would not continue to raise the issue with my credit card company. I responded saying that was not right, as I did not sign up for, use, or consent to a membership. Why would I accept a $49.95 refund out of $150 when I did not sign up for a membership? They then responded and said they would refund $99 if I didnt pursue the issue with my credit card company. I cannot accept that since this is completely fraudulent and I did not sign up for a membership. When I declined a $99 out of $150 refund they emailed back saying that I will not be refunded at all since I canceled out of the window. I literally cancelled a free trial on the spot because their services were not a fit for me. I am pursuing a fraud case with **************** because this company is trying to steal money. It seems like this is a common thread with these complaints. I would NEVER recommend even going on their website. If you give them any information they will exploit.

     I am rejecting this response because:

    It appears that Legal Templates did not take the time to read the complaint or details of my actual situation. Instead they copy and pasted a pre written reply used to address other complaints and did not appropriately address the concerns of my issue. I will restate a few facts that were already included in my original complaint which they completely disregarded in their reply. I kindly request that they read the details of my case before replying.

    1. The business responded to say that I needed to cancel the free trial in 7 days. As stated in my original complaint, I deactivated the account the same day that I signed up as I realized the services were inadequate to fit my needs. Since I canceled within the prescribed timeframe, I did not consent to recurring charges and all charges to my credit card are unauthorized. Since I cancelled my account, I did not know they were charging me for three months until I was notified by **** there was a recurring charge on my account.

    2. I state in my original complaint that I had already been offered a 2 month refund and will not be able to accept that since I have been charged 3 months for a service I did not use or consent to. The response stated that the company system is limited to refunding transactions past 60 days. Firstly, they need to refund the entire line of transactions since they were made without my consent and an error by the company.  Secondly, on March 17th, just 13 days ago, the same business responded to a separate complaint with the following verbiage **************** with our accounting team, we can process a one-month refund to compensate for the inconvenience, as our system cannot refund transactions past 30 days. Furthermore, you'll retain access for the remainder of the month. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused and hope this resolution meets your satisfaction. This is word for word the response they gave me but they said 60 days in the response to my complaint, yet told another person that they are limited to 30 days. The company completely makes up restrictions that contradict themselves, are inconsistent, and are trying to fraudulently keep money from people who were naive enough to have credit card information on file. 

    My specific situation requires a full refund of all unauthorized transactions and I have disputed all charges with the fraud department of my credit card company. If the company is so incompetent that they cannot refund erroneous charges, I will continue to pursue through my AMEX.

    I strongly caution anyone from giving their credit card information to legal templates as they will be charged without reason. **************** is incapable of admitting or correcting their errors.

     I am rejecting this response because:

    Is there a valid reason why in  response to my BBB complaint Legal Templates stated they can only refund 60 days due to system limitations. They addressed another complaint on BBB on March 17th,2025 and instead said they have a 30 day system limitation for refund. They adjust their policies to benefit themselves and do not follow honorable business practices. Does Legal Templates know their responses to BBB complaints are public? Why would they lie to the other customer and say 30 days is their limitation and then offer 60 days to other customers? 

    Legal Templates runs unapproved transactions and cannot be trusted with credit card information. I highly recommend BBB reviews their current rating of Legal Templates and adjusts accordingly.

    I used the site to print off a document, paying a $1.99 one time charge for just that document. Two months later on 01/19/2025 I noticed a charge from Legal Templates for *****, and upon searching my account found that I'd been charged on December as well. I immediately contacted them to explain that I didn't sign up for any service, that it was just a $1.99 charge to share the document. They offered to refund the $1.99 but said they can't locate any account under my name so can't refund or even cancel whatever subscription I was being charged for. I'm continuing to receive these charges monthly and getting zero help from them. They need to figure out whatever's going on and fix it, and refund those charges immediately. I paid for a ONE TIME document share, it said nothing about signing up for a trial. This is a huge scam and people need to be warned!

     I am rejecting this response because:
    I do not have any other email associated with the account. The only account I have with this company shows as a free plan from back in April of 2022. The last 4 digits of the card are 5360 and there is another charge pending as of this morning. This is now $200 of charges for an account that I've been told can't be located since November of last year. My bank statements are electronic so I'm not sure how to provide a copy.

    Neither Clockwiselake email I have contains anything regarding Legal Templates. The one at ***** has been deactivated because I haven't used it in so long and the one at gmail has only the welcome letter from when I opened it. 

    It is impossible for me to know that I'm being billed through an email that doesn't exist, and there should have been someone on your end that caught the emails being returned to you for the account not existing. 

    During that time I was extremely unwell and ended up hospitalized with delirium just a few weeks later due to previously undiagnosed hypothyroidism that had gotten so severe my organs were shutting down. I don't recall even making an account and have no idea why I would have. 

    Regardless of whether I canceled in time, you guys are still very much at fault for not requiring email verification to set up an account to ensure customers know they're being billed. I contacted numerous times since first being billed in December and just kept getting told "there's no account" because I'd have never thought to provide a deactivated email. 

    All of the charges need to be reversed as I've not used the service at all. I couldn't even log in to it, and I had no way of knowing how to cancel since I wasn't receiving billing emails. If you guys had taken the time to verify the email being used I'd have been able to cancel, but without billing emails coming into ANY of my mailboxes I had no way of knowing. OR any way of logging in.

    I used their service via the free trial on their website. The advertised price post trial was $39.95. I forgot to cancel the service and was charged. I called and attempted to get a refund but was informed it was not possible. Unfortunately I was not only charged but overcharged by $10 (a total of $49.95) which was not displayed anywhere on their website as the true cost of their service post trial. It has been 8 months since I was overcharged and my bank has still not been able to do anything about this dishonest transaction.

    I requested a refund the same day I was charged and was denied. Refusing to refund me again does not change the fact that I was wrongly overcharged. Legal Templates is a scam.
