      In Canada these guys own just about everything when it comes to waste management and in typically large corporate style they have terrible over site, office employees that are miserable and burnt out from fielding endless complaints that never get dealt with and their billing structure and process is an absolute mess with offices bounce accountability off to the next and so on. It’s worse when they are new to a community, swoop in take over, provide no double checks for pick ups, rentals or billing, leading to months and months of false notices, in correcting billing and frustrated, tired staff. It’s awful dealing with them it must terrible to work for them. Not a single employee sounds happy or helpful, likely from being bombarded by customers mad about the endless mistakes and problems that roll out of their head offices only to leave the local employees stranded and struggling to help their customers. At a corporate level the CEO and higher ups should be ashamed. It’s easy to look like a successful company to investors when you just buy the competition but eventually time and money run out. Corporate accountability is absolutely zero.

      WORST UTILITY COMPANY EVER:
      I am/was a customer of GFL Environmental.
      I have cancelled 6 times via the portal and 6 times via calling 770-385-1XXX. On or around June 28th and after selling my home, I called to cancel my service. At the time, I had a credit on my account because I pay in advance. After being on hold for over 45 minutes, I logged on and submitted a ticket to cancel my service. To-date, I have submitted 6 tickets:

      To date, I have called 6 times and I have been on hold for over 5 hours and talked to 4 representatives:
      1- (June) I was talking to a representative in commercial sign ups. She took my information and told me a representative would call me back in 48 or so hours. I never got a call back.
      2. (July) I talked to someone who said she cancelled my service and that I would receive my overage payment / refund within 4-6 weeks.
      3. (October) After receiving a BILL, I called and spoke to someone who said the system was down and to call back (this was after being on hold for 45 minutes.
      4. (October) I called and was prompted 2 for billing, but got customer service and was told my information would be sent to billing. No one ever calls.
      In all of my adult life, this has to be the worst customer experience I've ever had.

      Update: 10/27/2022 I was finally told the account was cancelled and my refund would be processed. I was told to allow for 4-6 weeks to receive the refund. We are post 6 weeks now and no refund. This is typical for anyone who is considering using this corporation for sanitation. Just to reiterate, this is situation has been going on for the last 6 months. 6 months to cancel a residential account and receive a refund (equivalent of 4 months paid ahead). No refund has been issued.

      Update: 2/15/2023 My service was cancelled and I show a refund on my account that was supposed to be refunded in 4 -6 weeks. I've followed up several times to find out when they were going to refund my account. The last time I emailed [email protected], they said they needed my forwarding physical address. This will be the second time this information has been submitted. Again, I was told the refund would be processed and mailed within 4-6 weeks. That was 8 weeks ago and my account now shows the amount they owe me. As it turns out, my co-worker is now dealing with the exact same scenario. They just received notice from GFL that their service cost was increasing to what averages out to about $35 per month. He's is trying to cancel his account as well as all of the homes in his neighborhood (500k-over 1.2m valued homes). The homeowners association recently met and they have all decided to go with a local company - one that answers their phones, responds to tickets and doesn't LEAVE trash behind. Now, he is having to deal with the same rigamarole that I've been dealing with since June 2022. Their business practices are sketchy at best and at least unethical, maybe even criminal. There is more going on than CS people not doing their job. They appear to be capitalizing on people who just give up and or forget to follow up. Once their can is on your property, good luck trying to sever ties with this outfit. If, by the end of the week, I do not receive a reasonable response from Fairburn, I will have no choice but to file in small claims in Fulton Co. Insanity. For anyone considering this company for commercial or residential trash service, go with your local small business company. Someone local, not Canadian, and smaller will definitely appreciate your business.

      I have been calling for 13 months to get my bill corrected... they have been overcharging me by double and no one will call me back. I removed my credit card from auto bill pay and they still keep charging my card somehow. I Had to cancel my credit card to get them to stop. Sent them my contract clearly showing what i should be charged but still can't get anyone to fix or call me back. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY, YOU WILL REGRET IT!!!!

      We had trash service through another company, the next thing I know is we have a GFL sticker stuck on the other companies trash bin. No communication on the change. First bill we got was outrageously high, so I called to cancel. So, then I am stuck with horrible customer service. I was told that it was cancelled as of 7-11-22. Well, we are still receiving bill's and they keep telling me it's not cancelled. By the way, we haven't seen their trash truck since the day it was cancelled on 7-11-22. This company needs to be investigated, they can not keep doing this to people!

      Worst service and customer service from a business I have ever seen.
      On Aug 11, 2022 during the pick up they took the whole can. I tried calling 7 times that day only to get the phone ringing until it hung up every time. The emailed them that day as well cancelling my service and got the standard email reply with a confirmation number but no further communication. They are still billing me for service I haven’t had in 3 months due to them taking the whole trash can on the last pickup. I’ve tried several more time to contact them via phone and email and get the same results.

      Their customer service is horrible. Can't ever get anyone on the phone and it's impossible to cancel service. I paid my bill and two months later they still haven't cashed the electronic check. The rates got raised without any kind of notice. I guess I'll have to flag them down next time they come and tell them to cancel my service and take their container. Or maybe they'll just quit picking up since I can only assume they lost my payment and I'm not making another one.

      This company is a joke!!! I live in ********* Ga and last week they did not pick up my garbage. I started calling them at 11:15 on the day of pickup they only told me they would email operations. I called the next day same answer. I called corporate in NC on Wednesday no help. On Thursday I was told at corporate that I will get a call the next day that didn’t happen. It’s been a week and no response from anyone. This morning they didn’t pick up again this is 2 weeks without service. They have 1.3 stars and I know why. This company is a total joke they don’t care about the customer just pay your bill and they will pickup at their convenience. They will not get anymore money from me. My sister had the same problem 2 weeks ago they won’t even return your call and apologize and make an effort to do their job. Be nice for them to go bankrupt.

      Waste Industries/GFL has zero customer service but had to assign at least 1 star. We have had them for years, and they have only gotten worse and more expensive. They used to pick up recycle weekly, then dropped to twice a week. (Never gave the option to drop off another recycle bin.) Late last year and this year, they are getting recycle bin once a month. Have complained numerous times, and no one follows up, or, if they do follow up, doesn't follow through with what they say. The very last strike I had with them is they picked up regular trash and recycle, and all went in trash bin. There have never been any monies refunded when they don't show up; if you try to call and 'arrange' for a pick up after they have neglected to, they treat you like you're asking for something inconceivable. There has never been an issue with funds, especially because they electronically take out funds several days before due date given. Sent them a notification, that I will no longer be using their services roughly a month ago, empty bins still sitting on the curb, and I have yet to be refunded. They have gone from $117 two years ago to ~$160/quarter. And you can depend on an increase in rate, despite lack of services.
