When I booked the agreement, I was given a price of $3,110 plus $219 for a month of storage - for a total of $3329 + tax. When I repeatedly asked if there were any other hidden fees that would be added on, the sales rep assured me there were not. Yet I received an additional Fuel Subsidy charge in the amount of $156.37 on my bill that was not part of the original contracted price. I wrote to both him and the billing department stating this charge should be removed from my bill since it was not part of the original contracted price but did not receive a reply from either one.The other issue I has was with the length of time that it took for the pod to come down to my new address. I was told that it would take 7 days. While I understood that weekends and the holidays extended this time, our pod sat up in ** for 7 days before it was even in transit and 5 days later it was at the warehouse. It then took half an hour to call customer care and ask that our belongings be delivered to the new address ASAP. I then had to wait another 2 days for delivery of the pod. This delay caused a major inconvenience for us. We rushed to pack the pod, resulting in us leaving many items behind which we still need to pick up after we've already spent a considerable amount of money having our belongings delivered. Secondly, we only had a handful of items that we brought on the drive down so we were forced to purchase many items that were sitting in a pod we thought would have been delivered much earlier. I posted a review on Trustpilot as well, receiving a response back asking for my phone number with no way to do so, as they clearly have no desire to rectify the situation. Please do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.

Blatant and illegal tactic to try scam an extra $500 out of me. There is NOTHING in the signed contract regarding a fuel up charge is diesel national average crosses a threshold. This is sent to you days later in an email down at the bottom in a nice well hidden spot. The signed contract is 11 pages long and could have easily included this. I would have even agreed to pay it because I understand the reasoning and fluctuation in fuel prices. This is a scummy business practice and I called them out. After slowly offering more and more after I demanded a refund for that - I was given all but $100. I decided to give up and accept that- but when I move in about 9 months- I sure as heck wont use packrat again. Up until that extra charge, everything went smoothly. This is a scummy tactic and I believe they know that. Im sure most people just pay it and move on because they think they agreed to it. I read my contact word for word numerous times.

HORRIBLE!!l AVOID AVOID!! They make up rules on the fly. On moving day they came to my place with a full container. I have no idea how they brought a full unit! I incurred additional costs because I had hired individuals to load my unit. When I was ready to unload my unit, they changed the day/ date with no notice. Do yourself a favor and find another company! Theyre AWFUL and theres always a side of attitude with the incompetence.

I rented a unit on 8/30/23 to clear out my parents home after my mother's death, so that my sister and I could inventory the contents for inheritance tax purposes. Grieving our mother's death my sister's husband died a month and a half later from cancer, so now we're grieving 2 major family members doubling the amount of paperwork, filings and follow **** Not to mention the task of going through all their belongings which has been very daunting and emotional for both of us. The out of pocket costs to settle both these estate's have been astronomical and I feel Pack Rat is taking advantage of us and overcharging us over $250 and using their contract as a means to do so.I first attempted contacting Pack Rat by phone on Friday, December 29, 2023 to schedule pick up of the unit. I called the local number that I programmed in my phone during the time of delivery. I didn't receive a return call until the next day Saturday, December 30th around 6pm. A gentleman left me a voicemail telling me to call back after the holiday. The next day was Sunday, New Year's Eve. I called them back on Tuesday, January 2, **** to schedule pick up. I asked the person on the phone if I was going to be charged for the month of January. I was told there would not be a charge for the month. On January 4, **** a charge of $261.60 appeared on the credit card.Since August I felt that I was dealing with a reputable business. I told my sister that I'm sure billing didn't get the pick up information yet and once the pick up on the 4th and process the estimated $100 pick up charge that they would issue us a $161.60 credit back on the credit card.To my surprise on January 8, **** the card was charged another $108.39 for the pick up.Believing I was dealing with a reputable company and trusting the young lady I spoke with on the 2nd I believed the adjustment would be done at the end of the month.Today I was surprised by an 800 operator and her supervisor that they charges are correct. HELP not fair

I recently had an incredibly frustrating experience with Pack Rat that left me feeling disappointed and disheartened. From start to finish, the company's lack of communication, incompetence, and unprofessionalism were evident. It all began with ********** failure to pick up the container on time. Despite their promises of punctuality, they caused unnecessary delays and inconvenience. To make matters worse, when I reached out to ******, an employee of Pack Rat, he assured me that my order would be back on schedule. However, his promises turned out to be empty and misleading. When I escalated my concerns to *****, a supervisor at Pack Rat, his attitude was absolutely appalling. Instead of empathizing with my situation or attempting to find a solution, he displayed a dismissive and condescending tone. This kind of behavior is simply unacceptable and reflects poorly on the company as a whole. The lack of professionalism and disregard for customer satisfaction demonstrated by ******, ****** and ***** is deeply concerning. It raises serious doubts about ********** commitment to its customers and their overall reliability as a service provider.I strongly advise anyone considering ********** services to think twice. Their incompetence, unprofessionalism, and lack of communication will only lead to frustration, wasted time, and unnecessary expenses. Look for a company that values its customers, takes their commitments seriously, and provides the level of service you deserve. Pack Rat is clearly not that company.

After seeing these other reviews, this place needs a big change. My experience started off excellent. Made me feel like I was getting pro service for the price paid. The day the container was dropped is when things went south. They sent me a smaller container than I paid for and this is after confirming the week before! There was no chance to swap out for the correct size as this was planned to arrive two days before the closing of my house sale. They offered a whopping 1% discount back. Ultimately settled for the cost difference between the two sizes. I had to fight and fight to get just that little bit. When it was time to get the container delivered I was told that it was still in transit. I was told transit was **** days to get from SLC to **************. They said due to the holidays it was going to be late. Even with the holidays it was still a week later than they told me. I had to pull teeth to get my container even that soon. They dont take responsibility for their mistakes. I again had to pull teeth to get a partial refund for the late arrival after they finally admitted that it should have arrived sooner. I was also charged for storage the day AFTER they picked up the empty container. After getting to an agreement on a small refund, I was told I was going to be sent email confirmation for my records. Had to call four more times to get my refund confirmation. Finally got the refund about a week after that. This business is in need of some work.

What can I say, the incompetency here is mind boggling. Or possibly, a calculated and formalized business process incorporating intentional misinformation. Whatever you are told by ANYBODY in this company, make sure you get it signed in writing, because the left hand and the right hand must be speaking disparate foreign languages to each other. When they quote they do not tell you there will be a fuel surcharge. Its in the fine print though. And when they send you the bill for $4,500 there is no detail in that bill. No indicating how the amount was arrived at. When they give you ANY date for anything make sure they verify it in writing via email and then call the next day to re verify the validity of it. Isn't this utterly ridiculous?? Well no, it's the reality of day to day business experience with 1-800-Pack-Rat I was told the 16th. I lined up labor 4 the 16th. When I called back in to talk about the ******* video on the undisclosed fuel surcharge, subsequent conversation revealed, well NO the 16th was NOT going to happen and the earliest date now was the 18th, but I could call in early next week and possibly they might be able to schedule the 16th. But we will put a request in to waive the Fuel Surcharge. I reorganized my labor for the 18th with a hold on the 16th. Then I got the bill and called back early in the week. Now its, sorry, we cannot do 16th and now cannot do 18th either, earliest now is the 22nd. And when asking for the detail on the bill it turns out they did charge me the fuel surcharge in spite of telling me they would not. I am funny about some things, when someone repeatedly sticks a needle in my **** I get angry. Angrier still if that same someone tells me I am out of line getting upset. I reschedule labor for 22nd. the morning of 22nd I call in and am told its scheduled for 2:45 - 5:45 but that its not certain. Later my machine gets a message that the Container has not yet Arrived and therefore cannot be delivered.

PackRat moved and stored our goods on schedule but greatly underestimated the number of pods we would need. The partner they recommended to help pack and load our pods sent out team members were not trained in how to pack and load our personal belongings into moving pods. They damaged or destroyed over 15 items due to neglect, carelessness, and ignorance in the manner of loading the pods. I showed the team members where all the goods to be loaded were located. I then showed them where all the extra boxes, straps, tape, blankets, bubble wrap, and shrink wrap was, so it could to be used for protecting my belongings, but most was never used. It wasn't until after the pods were finally delivered and unloaded 3 months later, that we found all the damaged/destroyed items. We took pictures before, during and after the unloading process. Through these pictures, and seeing the way things were packed into the pods, it was determined that all damage was due to the improper packing and loading of the goods. None of the damaged/destroyed items were protected properly. Multiple lamp shades were just stacked together and then rolled up in a blanket, not in a box, and shoved into a pod. A large, 3 piece wall unit set had one of the units damaged because it was the only piece that was not protected by a blanket. Multiple floor lamps were damaged or destroyed because they were just shoved into any open space with no protection of any type around them. Several other items were damaged due to excess weight put on top of them, again with no protection. All damage was directly due to the manner in which the goods were packed, loaded, and not protected in the pods. All of the items we packed ourselves came through with NO damage whatsoever, because we took the extra time and care to pack them correctly for the move.DO NO USE the partners they give you to help pack or load the pods.
