When I booked with Pack Rat, I specifically asked if the price they quoted me was the "all in" price. I was assured that it was. Since they record these calls, they will have a record of this conversation. Today when I checked my credit card statement, I was charged $728 above that quoted "all in" price. It was for a hidden, gas surcharge fee. Needless to say, I was very upset and felt deceived by the salesperson who never once mentioned this fee. They had already picked up my container so there's not much I could do. I finally got through to customer service and they said I agreed to the charge when I signed the paperwork. The fee is hidden in the multi-page document. After asking to speak to a supervisor, they offered me a 50% refund which I accepted. It should have been 100%. It still bothers me, and I feel taken advantage of. I am retired and $364 is a lot of money. We'll see how the move goes. The container itself was nice and the mover was extremely cordial. If you decide to use them, make sure you are aware of the hidden gas surcharge fee. They probably won't mention it to you unless you ask. I'm seeing all the negative reviews, but we had a great experience. I was quoted a price by Relocation Manager *********************, that was correct throughout the move. Our move was from *************** to *******************. The process exceeded my expectations and was a lot smoother than I expected from unit drop-off and pickup and to my final destination. I liked that the unit would be put in storage until we were ready, and we could access it with ***** hours' notice if we needed to remove anything. The move to our final destination was very smooth, and the drivers were friendly and courteous. I would definitely recommend this service for long distance move.1-800-PACK-RAT, LLC

This company doesnt even deserve any stars. Their facilities are a joke, the customer service is a joke. Their management staff is a joke. You are told 7 business day transit time, well that will turn into ****************************************************************************** or if the facility randomly decides to reschedule your date with no notice. I am currently in the process of trying to get refunded for the additional month I was charged for my*** rental, after being offered the ability to keep the *** for an additional 5 days, FREE OF CHARGE, due to an approaching tropical storm. ****, the Operations Manager in **********, ** and I spoke multiple times and he ASSURED me this would be okay with Corporate and that it would be approved on his end, "nothing for me to worry about". I trusted **** and now I am stuck with a $391 charge on my credit card for the additional month, when I was offered a 5-day extension, again, for no additional cost. The crazy thing is **** has answered multiple phone calls me from me about the charge, *** says he is working on it, but never follows up with me after he says he will. So today will be the third day in a row that I call and attenpt to get my $391 refund. This absolutely feels like a scam, which is why I'm sharing my current experience. 1-800-PACKRAT REFUND ME MY MONEY OR TAKE IT OUT OF ***** PAYCHECK SINCE HE APPROVED MY ADDITIONAL 5 DAYS!!!Listen to our calls, I'm happy to provide logs and my account number.1-800-PACK-RAT, LLC

THE SISTER COMPANY ZIPPYSHELL IS A COMPLETE SCAM. THIS PLACE IS THE WORST!!!! DO NOT EVER EVER EVER EVER USE THEM!!!! THEY WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY AND COMPLETELY MESS UP YOUR ORDER.THE CUSTOMER SERVICE REPS ARE VERY VERY VERY UNINFORMED. I'M FILING A COMPLAINT WITH THE BBB BECAUSE IMMEDIATELY THEY'RE TRYING TO MAKE ME PAY MORE MONEY FOR THEIR MISTAKES. YOU CAN NEVER TALK TO A MANAGER, ONLY REPS AND UNINFORMED SUPERVISORS WHO CAN'T HELP. I'VE BEEN TRYING TO GET RELOCATED SINCE AUGUST 30TH AND IT'S NOT SEPTEMBER 5TH AND MY STUFF STILL HASN'T BEEN MOVED AND I BELIEVE THE MOVERS THEY USED STOLE PART OF MY BELONGINGS. I HAD TO FLY BACK TO GET A TRUCK TO LOAD THE BELONGS THEY LEFT, BECAUSE I WAS SENT A WRONG CONTAINER FROM THE START. I'VE GOTTEN A LITTLE DISCOUNT, BUT NOW MY STUFF ISN'T GETTING PICKED UP AS SCHEDULED AGAIN AND AGAIN NO ONE HAS ANY ANSWERS AND THEY'RE TRYING TO CHARGE ME MORE MONEY. I should have listened to all the other negative reviews about this company. I booked their services over a month ago and went through the lengthy process of confirming everything including my address and the fact that I lived on an incline. The person I spoke to over the phone (*****) checked the address on ****** maps and assured me more than once that my location would not be a problem. At 8pm the night before the unit was due to show up, I got a text from ***** at the ************ location to let me know that they would be unable to deliver the container. He told me that he had tried to call me, but I received no missed calls. He ignored all of my calls, telling me he had poor service despite texting me back immediately. He then cancelled my order without warning, leaving me stranded without anywhere for the movers to put my stuff. I was LUCKY to get a next day container service with another local company that assured me their unit (like the many others people have used when moving up this hill) would have no problem. 1-800-PACK-RAT's service was extremely unprofessional and I would steer clear of their business when there are better and cheaper options.1-800-PACK-RAT, LLC

The initial process was easy. My pod did get delivered two days earlier than it was suppose to which wasnt that big of a deal. Then on the 14th it got picked up from my location and was told itll take 7 days to transport to my new locations area and await the designated drop off time. It is now the 28th. I have called for four days to find out where my container even is since they keep trying to push back the delivery day now. I was first told something happened to the truck in route, then theyre not sure where my container is, to todays answer of.. it never left the original facility still and theyre trying to find a driver to drive my pod to me. This whole business is fraud. They also mentioned they cant compensate for anything.. such as me and my family having to possibly sleep on the floor now until after my pod is delivered.. if it ever even will be at this point. I regret going with this entire business and they need shut down at this point for how they treat customers. Oh, not to mention if you call they keep transferring you and you normally have a ***** minute wait on hold in between 4 different transfers.1-800-PACK-RAT, LLC

Horrible service with nothing but dishonesty and deception. They do not pick up containers when scheduled for or called for with no communication with their customers. Customer service representatives are useless and tell customers what they want to hear,not what actually will happen. I used Pack-Rat to store and ship from one home to another. I will never used them again and I recommend that you use PODS. I have used them before with zero mishaps of overcharging. The number of issues in dealing with Pack-Rat was ridiculous. When they dropped off the shipping container they refused to put it where my mother instructed and blocked in my vehicle. They came back to fix it later to move the container to it's new location the driver said he was not able to pick it up due to it's placement and that branches from a tree would need to be cut and I would need to set up a new pickup date. As you might imagine I was not happy because this would further delay my move and I had already waited for more than a week for the container to be moved. I called them to complain and without any further communication the driver called later that day. He was at my house but due to the perceived delay I had a vehicle parked where the container should have been placed. I instructed the driver to place the container as close to the street as possible. When I arrived home he had instead placed the container 3 car lengths down my driveway so close to my car that nothing could be taken out out of the container. I called to request that the container be repositioned so that I could access it's contents. The could not do this for a week and the container's pickup was set only 4 business days after the new date. As a result, I had to hire and pay someone $300 to help me unload the container after it had been reposition instead of paying Pack-Rat an additional months rental and further delaying my move. Later upon checking my billing statements I had found that I had also been overcharged for the rental of the unit by almost $100. Thankfully I disputed these charges with my credit card company and it has been resolved however I will not be able to recover the time and money wasted due to their incompetence.1-800-PACK-RAT, LLC

We had a long distance move from ******* to **** . Initially all went as planned. Our drop off was scheduled for 8/18 but we didn't receive our container till 8/21. Their reason being truck breakdowns. We spent the best part of the mornings putting everything on hold waiting for a call just to be told it would be delayed another day. We were suppose to have our empty container picked up today. It is now going on 8pm and we have not heard anything from the company. Each time I place a call I'm am put on hold for 1-2 hours. This has been a very frustrating experience that has made our moving process alot more stressful than it needed to be. We used this company 12 years ago and never had these issues. This company has really gone downhill now. Next time we'll look elsewhere for a moving/storage company.1-800-PACK-RAT, LLC
