800Packrat is a poor excuse for a business. They cannot meet any promises made. We asked for a pod delivery for our first unit and it was late due to "vehicle issues". Pickup of the unit was delayed again by "vehicle issues". Drop off of the second unit was delayed again by "vehicle issues". We fully expect them to be delayed in getting the second unit picked up next week, and again they will miss the promised delivery dates in October. As a precautionary measure, **** is ready to deny any further charges they try to make. Our attorney says to deny further payments until they meet their contractual obligation (our on time delivery) and then have them compensate us for money we paid to people to help us load and then have packrat not show up on time.
It will be a miracle if they can turn this around, but the smart money is on them screwing up again and getting into a lengthy legal battle (luckily my attorney is my cousin, pro bono!!).
The driver was a great guy and very apologetic, but he is unable to make the management layers above him less incompetent.1-800-PACK-RAT, LLC

They do not deserve one star at all. I ordered a storage container while my first floor was getting redone due to damage beyond our control. Pack Rat was to deliver weather proof container between noon - 4pm. They did not arrive until 6:30pm on a Saturday. I needed to have my entire main level cleared out by Sunday at 5pm. When this unit was delivered it was not weather proof. There were holes ducted taped, the top of the unit was rusted and had holes. The duct tape they used was coming off. I attempted several times to call Pack Rat that day but was on hold for 1hr 45minutes. I called again the very next day (Sunday) to finally get ahold of someone after being on hold. They advised me they could not have another unit out today and I stated my belongings needed to be moved into the unit as my house was starting construction the next day. He stated he would give me a $50.00 credit. I paid over $500 for this container that IS NOT weather proof due to damage and holes throughout the unit. I demanded they give me more of a credit due to the condition of the unit. They were very unresponsive and did not care about my belongings. I had this unit for 3 weeks tops and my couch, love seat and bar table were ruined due to water damage. This company is a disgrace and their customer service is a negative 5. DO NOT USE THEM! A pop up tent would have been better then the containers they are trying to rent.1-800-PACK-RAT, LLC

Beware of this company. The price may be lower than other companies but that’s solely because the quality of customer service and care is garbage. And they will charge you in every other way possible so it all evens out in the end. They are so unprofessional, disorganized, and slimey. They overcharged me, double charged me, forgot to cancel and charged me again, upcharged me. Anything you can think of, they charged me extra for. They forgot to schedule our delivery for 2 weeks after we called again and again. We got different answers each time. The staff is so lost and confused about their own company that you’ll never get an accurate answer on anything. The “manager”, of long distance moves, ******* *******, is nothing but a lying, scamming salesman. Once he takes your money (adding extra fees of course) you’ll never get a response from him again. Our cube showed up covered in oil, dust and bugs. Half of the things were broken inside. I’ve never had a worse experience when moving. I will never ever use this company again for anything.1-800-PACK-RAT, LLC

I really don't know where to begin. I still do not have any resolution on what is happening. Leaking containers to non-assistance I'm appalled. Still waiting for some help. No one at the corporate office in NC is returning calls. I suppose a hold on all the money they took and a fraud alert should be issued to ****. More to follow.

This company is truly appalling, it is truly the most unprofessional company I’ve ever done business with. We ordered a container for a one month rental as we bought a house but the previous owners needed additional time, so we had to find a place to stay temporarily since we had also just sold our house. We were told we would receive a call the day before drop off giving us a time window, that call was never made and my husbands call was never returned. The following day at 9:30AM my husband received a call saying our time window was between 7 AM - 11 AM. We had friends and family coming to help us unload and all were there and waiting by 11 am. At 12:30 our pod was still not here so we reached out by phone, you can NEVER get ahold of someone and are always forced to leave a voicemail, we did just that and requested an ETA on our pod. Over an hour later we received a call back, only to answer to listen to hold music for additional half hour before speaking to a representative. Once the representative answered she advised us that our pod deliver was canceled and rescheduled for Monday. I asked to speak to a supervisor as I told her I have a two year old and all his belongings are in that pod, the supervisor and the manager I spoke to after were rude, and all they offered as compensation to US having to call THEM to find out our friends and family wasted a whole day, we had to take additional time off work, and we went an additional two days with a two year old with no furniture or belongings was our $83 pick up fee. I commented on a ******** post the Monday our pod was delivered warning people to run. Was asked to DM our order # and contact information to discuss our complaint and we have received no communication in return. Please save yourself the headache and RUN.1-800-PACK-RAT, LLC

I am extremely unhappy with this experience. Everything started out great. The process of ordering and securing the container was great. Loading and then pick up was also great. Then... I moved accross the country and had dates lined up for delivery. First, it was supposed tobe here on August 16, with pick up on the 19th. That would have been PRIOR to the next month renewal. Then, it got bumped by PACK RAT to delvery on the 20th with pcikup on the 23rd. I was ASSURED that I would not be charged another month "storage fee" for their delay. THEN... I get a call on August 18th stating that my delivery won't be here until the 30th due to a forklift being broken at their North Carolina facility. So -all of my belongings... all the stuff my kids need for school, clothes, etc. are still in North Carolina whie I'm here in any empty house in Texas for what will be AT LEAT 2 weeks longer than expectd.... and... they also just hit my credit card for the next month's rental. That is UNACCEPTABLE. I understand delays, but when YOU cause delays, you need to make it right. I will be seaking media and legal help with this unless this compnay makes this right and refunds my money for the inconvenience they have caused me and my family. I have used their competiion for moves like this in the past and did not experience anywhere near this level of problem.1-800-PACK-RAT, LLC

I called to have a 16' container delivery because I am selling my house and I am on a strict time line. On the day of delivery I received a text message with no name of the company that was sending i saying they were not delivering and I was going to be rescheduled. So called 1800PackRat and asked about the text and the rep did not even sound like she believed what she was saying and she said her supervisor told her what the text meant. I asked for her supervisor and was transfered to conflict resolution department and the person who answered was condescending, he had no empathy he actually laughed and me and hung up on me. So I called the sales department to get to hopefully someone who cares. I was then transfered to escalations department and I spoke to someone who said he was manager, however he kept fumbling on his words and again no empathy for the customer who was inconvenienced. Empathy and truth goes a long way, but the employees are rude and this is the WORST customer service I have ever received.1-800-PACK-RAT, LLC

I'm not sure I've ever had a worse experience dealing with a company. Issues with the delivery of the container aside (I have a word limit on this review), we were billed $720 more than our quote with no notice. I called and after about 45 minutes of back and forth with the billing department, they refunded us $680. They told me it was a fuel surcharge but couldn't tell me the rate per mile, which is a standard metric in transportation (it's what I do for a living). I explained to them that a fuel surcharge needs to be stated as part of the quote. The fact that they refunded $680 of the $720 immediately told me they knew the charge was BS.
When I first got the quote, PackRat told me a container could be delivered to both my home (******) and my destination (**) without any permits or work on my end. WRONG! We needed a permit in ******, which I easily got. We legally weren't allowed to leave a container on the street in ** so we had to go pick up all of our stuff from their facility in *** ****. We were also told it would take 20 days for the container to arrive so we scheduled the pickup accordingly. Thankfully we put an AirTag in the container so we knew it was in fact delivered 9 days ahead of schedule. I was jerked around on the phone for 2 days trying to reschedule our pickup.
One positive of switching to pickup in *** **** was we were told it would save us $250, $125 each for the pickup and delivery of the container to our destination. I was told they could not refund that money until the transaction was complete. Its been 17 days since we got our stuff and only after I reached out to them yesterday via email did they refund us only $100. I called today to follow up and was told it was a 5min wait and they'd call back. Its been over 2hrs and I'm still waiting. Its clear to me they wont return my calls because I wont put up with their slimy business practices. Refunding me all the money I'm owed the first time would have been easier.

I put a tracker in one of the containers based on a recommendation from someone who had a problem with the "other" container moving company.
So it is 3 weeks later and my containers are still in the origin city for my 600 mile move. Each time I am told they are on the way I tell them "No they are not." Promised last week that they would be picked up this past Monday and arrive in my new state by Wednesday. Even got a notification they were "in transit."
I called and spoke to a "supervisor" today. I let him know that today the tracker in the container confirmed they haven't moved (since 7/29). He put me on hold and called dispatch and then apologized and blamed a carrier for not picking up as scheduled. The message about them In Transit was an automated message based on the carrier's scheduled pick up. I let him know the tracker would continue to be my source of truth.
I WISH I HAD CHECKED THEM OUT HERE AND ON WEB REVIEWS FIRST. They were recommended to me by a respected and reputable business that did my packing. She will not recommend them again.1-800-PACK-RAT, LLC

CONTAINERS NOT YET DELIVERED - ONE MONTH PAST PICK UP
After another false signal that the containers were on the way, they shipped from the Origin warehouse 8/29 . This is one month since they were received into the Origin warehouse. This is roughly 21 workdays from warehouse to warehouse. It is not yet clear when I will receive the containers at my house.
A supervisor told me they would work to expedite the delivery to my house this week. That did not happen, it was scheduled for 9/7. As of today that slipped to 9/8. Based on my experience with them, I don't trust that is a solid date.
The only thing that has been prompt in the Zippy Shell/PackRat process is billing.Review fromDarcey H

Started service with packrats 09/24/21 and the my first pod was delivered
10/01/21 and got a jump start on filling it right away. I filled it 1/3 of the way and it started raining so I stopped right away and waited until the next day morning and decided to start again, when I opened the pod doors I noticed right away that there was water all over the floor and I started to investigate to see where it was coming from. When I realized that it had been leaking, I called packrats right away and I was told that they would be sending another pod out right away. Out of the two men that showed up one was the original drive that dropped off my pod the day prior and the other man was the driver manager.
The driver manager took photos and looked at the damage and decided he could fix and he did. I decided to keep the pod that they brought out because I could use it. It rained again and the pod didn't leak again, however I now had damaged items. I called the claims department on 10/02/2021 to file a claim for my damaged items and spoke to ****** who pdfed a claims form which I printed, filled out and returned in an email to ****** with photos attached for my damaged items. The driver manager also took photos of the my damaged items along with the damage to the pod as well. 11/11/2021 I emailed ****** with the claims department to find out where they were with my claim and ****** replied with "it could take up to 90 days process a claim!" I said thank you, I was checking in because I wasn't sure. 11/2021 I called to have both of my pods picked up and delivered to Fort Myers until my house sold. I'm running out of characters for everything I need to put down here. 10 months later and my claim still hasn't been processed. I have called 7 times in total and I am still getting the run around. I've spoken to ******, ********, **** and several other people from the claims department. I will continue to call and send emails until someone does something and I'm heard!1-800-PACK-RAT, LLC
