I would sign in and despite having made an overpayment was told I owed more money for the month. I logged in three separate times and each time the system gave me a different minimum payment amount each time. How am I supposed to budget for an unknown amount due each month? So, I signed up for the SAVE repayment plan thinking that I would at least get a set payment amount due. I was sent multiple EMAILS stating that they were reviewing my account. Suddenly, out of no where, I am due to pay $260+ within 2 days. I did not get an email telling me I would owe a balance or that my request for the SAVE plan was approved, I found out because I happened to login to Nelnet. I am now getting calls and emails telling me I am 'past due' for a payment that is not even close to the amount that the SAVE plan offer told me I would be paying. Every time I login to Nelnet I am being told I owe a different amount and the number keeps going arbitrarily up. I have tried calling multiple times but the few times I have been able to speak to a human being they are even more confused than I am. I was told back in OCTOBER that the rep would look into why my account was such a mess then get back to me and she NEVER DID. To this day I have not been told the updated terms or even approval status of the SAVE repayment plan that I signed up for. I don't know my interest rate, term, or even what the minimum payment supposedly is for each month. I didn't even get communication to my previously used method of communication (email) stating when my first payment would be due! They sent me a message through the Nelnet website 'inbox' of a document image. I cannot trust this company that if I make a payment that I won't have another payment looming over my head a couple days later. This is not how federal banks are allowed to function how is that Nelnet is able to function in this way? If this isn't predatory lending, I don't know what is.

There has been no contact from this company since at least 2018, they did not keep me updated during the covid freeze, they have made no contact regarding payment plan recertification, they have made no contact regarding recent late payments, and I owe more now than when I graduated. This company almost seems predatory, refinance with someone else if you can.

Their login system and customer service are nonexistent/terrible. I have tried using the "forgot password" feature 3 times now in the past couple hours where they say they'll send you a verification code - I've checked spam and my email and haven't received anything during this time. I know they have my correct email because I have a history of communication from them to create an account, and notifications about payment. I haven't received any text codes either.

Last summer, their log in website timed out (I have screenshot evidence) and I wrote to their customer service and didn't ever hear back. I'm incredibly frustrated that I can't log in and make my payments.

Unfortunately, my daughters Student loan was transferred to this God awful company. There are so many problems with non-customer service and incredibly long wait times to speak to a rude and un knowledgeable Customer service representative. The problem was setting up an account. It didn’t seem like rocket science until they got
Involved . The “representative” failed to give us the security code that never worked. Then she stated, You must be the only only experiencing this problem. Really. From the comments I read, this is a reoccurring problem. Mind you, she never could get in touch with the “ tech department, which suggest it is non- existence. Prior, to this problem, another person informed us they had my daughter’s wrong birthday. How would we have known that if we never called. Then when we provided the right information, we again never received any correspondence that the problem was resolved. Lastly, we requested to speak to a manager: She apologized for the customer service representative and the problems we experienced. We were supposed to have a follow up meeting to finally set up an account and nobody called. Crickets. Nobody has since called. Meanwhile, their lack of professionalism is ruining my daughter’s credit—and I’m sure others. This company’s motto states “ where we do great things”. What a fraudulent company. They are ripping off students borrowers who want to pay their loans and cannot get answers, service, Assistance or competent people who know how to solve problems, and of course nothing in writing and a useless website.

Nelnet has no way to contact them. They do not post payment, then charge late fees.

I am concerned with the plan for repayment of my student loans. I receive monthly statements from the company NELNET. I began to realize that the minimum amount they are requiring does not cover the interest accrued during the month. If I pay the suggested amount the next month’s balance increases. I noticed this about 2 months ago and contacted the company. They gave me no explanation and their response was very vague. They told me that my schedule of payments was approximately 111 more payments and I could find the schedule on the website. I found this hard to explain as the total balance was increasing every month. The website indicated that the payment schedule wasn't ready and to check later. If I would have continued to make the suggested payment, I would have NEVER repaid the loan. I increased my payment and the balances are starting to decrease. I had to increase the amount by $125 to only see an approximate drop of balance of about $70. I don’t know if this is legal but it seems deceiving.

I have logged in and manually set up autopayment every month since Nelnet took over my student loans, and every month the autopayment has either not gon through at all or been a different amount than what I've set up. As a result I have to go in and make my payment manually every month, and sometimes make multiple payments in a month. It should not be this difficult to make payments.

Trying to change a setting to "not advance due date" and it will not allow me, an error message pops up, HOWEVER, the rest of the site seems to be working properly. Terrible.

Requested $1,000 back that I had paid during forbearance. Its almost a year later now and I have not received my money back even though they posted the money to my account almost immediately.

I got my loans out of default and had them automatically paid every month the same amount for 4.5 years. I took a class at the local Community College and Nelnet automatically deferred my loans. I wasnt informed except when it was "approved". I called to have it un-deferred. 4 calls later, the payment went up $30 a month for no reason (i think it was the deferrment i didnt ask for). The cust. Svc know absolutely nothing. I was assured same payment would come out, nothing was paid, so i made the payment to stay current, then was told that the misallocated the funds so I had not paid both loan groups, ended up past due, then found out about the $30 a month increse to my payment. Causing afditional past due amounts... it was ridiculous. Nelnet caused this problem and wouldnt fix it. I borrowed money to just be done with it so my credit score didnt suffer for Nelnets gross negligence. I have NEVER been issued a deferrment that I didnt specifically request and their policy is to just make decisions on your loan and tell you about it later. Due to all the bungling, I have had to seriously change my financial plans and it has affected my daily life very negatively. Having to get a loan to pay off the loan.... Nelnet is a joke that will do other borrowers harm in the same way. This us their practice- how they do business. Not good.
