I get calls reeatedly and tell my situation and the representative tells me I qualify for programs and I will get a link to complete the process and this never happens. They now say I owe 1403.62. Why keep telling me that I qualify I have deferrement and never send the link or forms needed to complete the process? Trash Trash Trash!!!!!!!

This is a terrible loan place. If I had known their customer service was non-existent I would have chosen most anywhere else. I am being forced to reset my password every single time I log in. No matter that I have the password saved and written down. Each time, even sometimes minutes after my log in, I have to reset it by offering my SSN and date of birth. When I am able to reset it, it says my password is already used. Even when making up a completely random password. I have emailed and called and used the Live Chat option. I have no had anyone call me or email me back. I am simply told that they're "experiencing unprecedented volume" of both emails and calls. Not happy and feel something is sketchy that I have to give them my SSN repeatedly. Even when calling the recording says to enter my SSN over the phone. Something doesn't seem right.

I set up a payment program with Nelnet inSeptember. In October i noticed my payments didnt come out so I went online and signed up for auto payment again. The payment for December came out of my bank, but Nelnet has no record of it. Now, in December i got an email saying I owe $3325 more than my agreed payment program per month. After calling their phone number and getting a life alert infomercial that has nothing to do woth student loans, I tried the automated chat. Inasked for help and got the exact message every time that was useless. I looked for another number and finally got a hold of someone who said I’m not even registered in their system. This is the 3rd time in 3 months I have had to completely go through the process of setting up a loan repayment. I have record from my bank showing payments to Nelnet. Nelnet’s balance does not match that of my bank. Nelnet claims I am just paying them each month, but not actually repaying my loans!! Everything about this company is so disorganized and incompetent. Their customer service is terrible. I am making payments to Nelnet each month, but not actually repaying my loan. What a scam!! The sheer incompetence of this company is staggering. This is the ONLY company I can go through, according to them. What a horrible company to be stuck in a monopoly with.

      Trash.

This entity does not care about you at all. You are a number. A statistic.

Our legal team has procured over 15 independent forms of documentation from financial instituions, the Department of Education, and direct learning institutions, which have indicated account malfeasance and negligence. Our counsel has also delivered (via email and in-person) these documents with no resolve. The company continues to solicit and harrass non-payment issues. Our account has been paid in full for over two years. I myself am currently a student and enrolled full-time whereas there should be a cesation in any form of student loan payments.

We are pursuing leagal action for the third time and will be bringing a civil suit, in tandem with a Federal injunction, for this entity by the beginning of Q1 2024.

This company is trash, and the people that work for them are drones for the paycheck. SOP drones.

      Join us in the fight.

For over 2 years, I have not been contacted or notified that I have student loan debt. I found a nelnet email from a throw away email account saying I owe student loans. I tried to create an account and it kept saying I don't exist in their records. After waiting over an hour and 20 minutes I got a hold of a person who later transferred me to management. When I began to address my grievances he promptly shut the phone call in my face saying to create an account and pay. There was no attempt at discourse or a redress of my grievances from their management team. This company has irreparably damaged me and will be seeking legal counsel for gross negligence and damages.

HORRIBLE customer service, hour + wait times. Automated emails simply state "give us a call". I called and was put on hold for 1.5 hours. Finally talked to someone asking to change the due date of my loan payment (why can't I do this myself on their website?). They said they were able to successfully change the due date but it would be reflected until the following month. Well, the following month comes around and my due date is the same, it was not changed. I have no money in my account on that date and now my loan goes into past due. I call them again, am again put on hold for over an hour, and I get the same response - that they could change the due date but it would take a month for the date to change. Ridiculous. Who knows if the change will actually go through this time. I feel so powerless as a comsumer with this company. They don't care about their customers. As a student who took out loans over a decade ago, I have no choice in who services my loan - and I was given over to the worst loan servicing company in America. There is no way to contact this company besides calling them. No email will get through, no way to message them on Facebook. They have turned off all comments on Twitter/Facebook. People tweet/mention them on Facebook and Twitter but they don't respond - I doubt they even look at them. I could not be more disappointed with this company. 0 STARS!

I am questioning whether or not this business practices predatory loan practices. My job has made payments towards my loan balance in the debt repayment program. On different occasions, the money has not been credited to my account & I have been charged the compounding loan payment total. I literally have sat waiting on hold for someone to answer my calls for 2-4 hours at a time. Someone is not right with this company. I sent and email to them in October regarding my payment and they didn’t respond till the Nov 28/29.

Account information is incorrect when comparing it to Great Lakes, says I have a $0 balance when Great Lakes shows something different, currently on hold for an hour and a half, the interest rate isn’t adding up to the fixed amount I agreed to, haven’t received a letter stating any payment info, last month said no payment due then the day after Great Lakes payment due date they said payment was late, meaning they put a payment due after the date it should have been due but there was no way to pay $0, and I could go on. This transfer was the worst.

Terrible experience with Nelnet. No one responds to customers, they have issues with their website constantly, they don't distribute payments correctly causing additional interest, and they have terrible account communication overall!
