      I have been trying to contact Nelnet for over two months. Numerous phone calls, leaving my SS#, DOB, zip code and several emails requesting to speak to a representative. NO response. I want to pay off my loans. Trying to find out pay off amount. No response. 10-27-2023 I paid off $ 31,535.00. The total amount indicated on Nelnet's web site. Called many times to find out pay off amount. , No response. First I receive a letter indicating loans are paid off, 0 balance. A month later receive email on Nelnet web site claiming I still owe $ 535.00. because that amount went for interest from my pay off amount.. I paid two weeks before due date and since NO one has ever made an attempt to contact me with the pay off amount, only had information that Nelnet provided on web site, I know if I don't pay this latest invoice Nelnet will charge more on interest. I need someone to find out and confirm my loans are 0 balance.
      After 10 years of paying Nelnet on a $32,000.00 Parent Plus Loan, I have paid back
      $ 54,500.00.
      I no longer have the time or energy to deal with this rip off predatory loan company. From the very start of repayment Nelnet has lacked professional customer service. When I was making monthly payments, I was misinformed about my Federal Loan was sold to a private company. My one loan for 4th year of school was $10,000.00, when I found out I owed $17,600.00. The last Nelnet representative I spoke with, several months ago told me that I was not eligible for any IDR or other stimulus repayment plans. So I decided to pay off and I gotten nowhere dealing with Nelnet recently. Should be a ZERO star review.

      I wanted to send an extra payment to pay off a portion of my parent plus student loans. I sent in separate checks for each account I wanted to pay off, and I included explicit instructions on which accounts each check should be applied to. However, Nelnet ignored these instructions and distributed the checks to every one of my accounts, ignoring my instructions. I also instructed that this extra payment was to only go towards the principle balance of the accounts, but a large portion was used to pay interest, further ignoring my instructions. It is crucial for payers to be able to make extra payments to principle balances to manage their finances.

      I reached out to support, which took hours to reach someone, and was not given an immediate remedy. I was told a resolution could take up to 3 weeks.

      Their website is difficult to navigate, and is missing crucial repayment information that should be readily available. It is also missing the ability to make extra payments online, which leads to the issue above.

      Awful customer service. They do not get back to you with concerns. They do not answer their phone calls and leave you on hold for over an hour. Worst student loan provider ever.

      Been on hold for over an hour and 20 min. Can't get through to no one for the past week nor try and call them. I've been on disability since 2018 sent over all peoper documentation and nothing has been done. You would think that after a year they would have their crap together I guess not. Stay away from them. I've had this student loan loan for 10 years!!! It just got bought out by them last year. This is ridiculous

      I have always paid my student loans on time and have had my accounts open for over 20 years. I had a measly $340 balance with Great Lakes Higher Education and applied for student loan forgiveness through the Joe Biden program before the Supreme Court blocked the bill. I now owe Nelnet over $1300 and they cannot even tell me how the balance went up by $1000 and didn’t waste any time reporting it to the credit agencies. Their phone wait times are astronomical, over 3 hours. Somewhere a mistake was made and I have no recourse and am going to have to just pay back the $1300. I’m assuming it is a collection fee which is probably illegal but somehow they back doored it by getting the loan from a 3rd party. Nelnet needs to be investigated for fraudulent student loan transfers.

      Nelnet is impossible to get ahold of, their website is not user friendly, and they respond to emails basically telling you to call then when you call its a 1+ hour wait. They did not seem prepared and their auto pay is ridiculous. They missed charging me this month and now charging me a different amount for next month. I feel helpless and frustrated with them and worried for the future of my loans.

      They have thousands of loans, but no customer service employees?? You CANNOT reach them on the phone for questions. I have now tried 8 different days/times and have waited on hold for over an hour each time and they never pick up. I even sat on hold one night from 4p-8p EST. I think they went home for the night and let the calls sit on hold. RIDICULOUSLY BAD customer service.

      My student loans were automatically transferred to Nelnet. What a nightmare it has been since. Every time I try to make a payment, it gets returned with no explanation. I have made sure that the banking information is correct. There are always sufficient funds in the account. I do not understand that the issue is. I have also been trying to contact them to rectify this, however connecting with them is so easy feat.

      I wish I could find $14,000 so that I can pay them all off now and be done with them. Worst company ever.

      The way they allocate payments. Especially how they fudged the date in which the covid relief ended. They had November on the website for a very long time. They didn't send out notices, and when November comes you find our you're behind when they START sending notices... The way they split into Firstmark Services is shady as well; to prevent consolidating of loans. Avoid these people at all costs. Find a better rate somewhere else and avoid problems.

      My loans were transferred to Nelnet and they refuse to sign any paperwork needed by my employer to do loan reimbursements. They say they are busy and can do it next year which is too late. File a complaint with the department of education student loan ombudsman like me. They already have two class actions against them in court for improper activity. This organization is terrible. Contact William Munn their legal counsel on linkedin or look up his info on the Colorado attorney search website. I filed a complaint against him with the Colorado Bar.
