  Nelnet has been nearly unreachable as I inquire regarding my student loan situation. The website is difficult to navigate.

  I previously used Great Lakes which was actually as nice as a loan servicer could be. But now with the payment pause ending, I'm trying to figure out the website to set up my repayments with Nelnet, and it has been an absolute nightmare. Where Great Lakes gave me flexibility to assign different payment plans to different loans with higher interest rates etc. Nelnet doesn't seem to have that capability, and is totally lacking in any transparency about what my future payments will look like with different repayment plans.

  Was unwillingly moved to them from Great Lakes. I went to Great Lakes to get away from them. Instructions provided on the transfer don't work. Took 2 months to get a reply back from my email inquiry and all that sent was the Instructions that DONT work. Did not address anything in my request. Been trying to call for months and wait times are always 90 minutes or more. Can't make payment if I can't get to my account and was never sent an account number. Worst customer service!!!

  COLLEGE STUDENTS BEWARE !!!
  This company is about money and money only! They do not care about the fees they impose on the college students service and how it affects them financially. Today is September 5,2023 the payment for tuition was made on September 5,2023. However, due to them charging my card 10:30am when it was locked. I was charged a $30 return just because my card was ran…I called customer service and spoke to a manger both saying the same robotic response. 0/5 stars I am so glad this is my last semester ! NELNET IS NOT FOR THE STUDENTS ONLY MONEY HUNGRY INSTITUTIONS!

  I’ve been charged over $800 in interest within the first 5 days of the restart of interest accrual on a $70,000 loan. I made a $550 payment and it’s completely wiped out by how fast interest is accruing. They are unprepared to answer calls or emails to explain what’s going on while destroying my credit by overinflating interest charges. This absolutely cannot be correct. The loan will be over $100,000 in no time because of how quickly they are piling on interest.

  The website is great but if you need help with almost anything you are screwed. The online chat function never works (always down), they don't respond to the email questions submitted on the website, leaving a 1.5-2 hold time on to be the only way to get help. I'm so disappointed that my student loans got transferred from the Great Lakes Provider to Nelnet.

  I can't get in touch with them. They can't locate my SAVE application completed on 8/3/2023. They have turned off the comments on their Facebook page. The government needs to drop them. They weren't good before. They got a bunch of new Great Lakes applications and they are just non-existent. I want to speak with someone and get this corrected.

  I have a consolidated loan it is now with Nelnet. Half of my loans were discharged quickly
  with aidvantage. However, Nelnet still has not discharged the rest Through Sweet vs
  Cardona. I had spoken with the person whos over my borrowers defense application. I was
  informed that nelnet would be notified to discharge the remaining balance of the loan.
  It's a year later and nelnet still hasn't discharged the remaining balance. I'm aware that
  discharges have been taking place yet i still have loans. I'm tired of playing this game
  between nelnet, borrowers defense and fed aid, I need the remaining portion discharged
  as promised. I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired

  DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY- they are so unorganized, they can never fix an issue that I have, or even clarify anything. I am always in hold for 20+ minutes. They seem to never know what I am asking, something as simple as how to change my last name in the system. Never using them again.

  According to the email I received, Nelnet is "currently experiencing unprecedented email volume" preventing them from responding to my email...ever. This seems to be a clever way to avoid having any written (read "recorded") account of our conversations. This strikes me as highly unethical and irresponsible, even for a company that was accused in 1993 of using a tax loophole to generate upwards of $1.2 billion dollars in profit from student loans that it managed. New York and Nebraska have both gone after the company for allegedly paying kickbacks to colleges and universities that pushed students toward Nelnet loans. I would like to request ongoing EMAIL correspondence with Nelnet to ensure that vital communication isn't lost in the ether of supposedly "recorded" phone conversations.
