This company is corrupt. Do your homework and if they handle your mortgage, watch them like a hawk.

CENLAR is the worst loan administration company in existence. I inherited a piece of real property on which the grantor had obtained a small Home Equity Loan (Line of Credit). Unfortunately, I had to deal with the Successor in ******************* at CENLAR. Because of my negative experiences, I recommended to the mortgage lender (bank) that they contract with a new and competent loan servicing organization. For six months of the year 2023, I had the most frustrating, exasperating experiences imaginable because of CENLAR'S sub-standard customer service, lack of integrity, incompetence, and unreliability. Even after I submitted multiple documents (approximately 50 pages), CENLAR incompetently handled these submissions and claimed (at different times) that they either did or did not receive all the relevant/requested documents submitted. The time delay caused by Cenlar's lack of care, disorganization, and incompetence, resulted in the subject property being placed in default judgement status and then into foreclosure status. During the time of CENLAR's processing delays, CENLAR refused to accept my payment submitted to prevent the loan from entering foreclosure status. I believe that CENLAR was pushing to foreclose on the subject property even though I communicated that (as the deeded/titled owner) I was ready, willing, and able to satisfy the outstanding loan balance in its entirety. I must have spoken to at least fifteen different customer service representatives in my attempt to bring the account current. 99% of these representatives were rude and/or incompetent. After months of ineptitudes, CENLAR finally declared me Successor in Interest. Unfortunately, by that time, the account was in foreclosure status, and I then had to deal with CENLAR's attorneys who tacked on attorney's fees to the arears and late payments already accumulated on the account. This entire experience was a total NIGHTMARE! ZERO STARS!!!

Like they say, if I could give zero stars, I would. They've always had terrible customer service and often never answer the phone or hang up when you finally get through. For 10+ years, I've been a customer. This time, I have a problem. When I lost my job on Aug. 31, I called this company to request a loan modification consideration. Was told a packet would be in the mail. A month later, called again. A month later, called again (all "packets" are in my online portal, dated Sept. 15, Oct. 12 and Nov. 16). I tell them as I am not in an office, I cannot print the online documents. Every time i am told a packet has gone out. Today I called again, Dec. 1, and after being transferred to 3 different departments, one person told me I'm signed up for e-statements! Really? Other banks will still mail out paper documents if it's not a statement, but the point is the 3rd call I make tells me this? Do they want me to walk away? They don't care as I'm still paying the increasing amount every month. Banks don't care until you walk away and become delinquent. I need the paper documents and the courtesy of being told the truth to see if I can qualify for a temporary reduction until I get a job. I've been a great on time customer for a decade (or more), and it should not be difficult to get help. And by the way, they have no way of contacting anyone higher up online, and the chat window tells me they cannot help as this is an HELOC.

Cenlar has **** tricks to scam customers into paying extra fees and they're all about disingenuous operating procedures. I can't list all of the ways they avoid their responsibilities to their customers, but this list of complaints I've read sounds believable to me, based on my own similar experiences with Cenlar. You have to complain to an oversight agency in order to get a response from this company. It's insane that the public has to suffer through these crimnal business practices; especially considering that, for most (if not all) of us, we never chose to be in business with *****. Were it not for having my mortgage passed to Cenlar by the original mortgage bank, I wouldn't know who this company is, and I hate everything about the way they do business. This business is a cancer to the American public and they exist purely as predatory opportunists.

They should be shut down. I have called in daily going on two weeks now to have misapplied payments applied correctly. I continue to get told a ticket is going to be submitted and another email sent. They are waiting on investor approval to correctly apply a payment?! This is absurd that they cant even apply a payment. Clearly no one chooses them and doing business with them is a result of your loan being sold, but if you can avoid them, DO!

I have been dealing with the customer service and successor in interest department for 4 months and they are completely unorganized and continuously drop the ball. Despite going through a family death, now Im dealing with incompetent people who cant do their jobs. They dont send the documents to the legal department and keep giving me the run around. When I ask to speak with a manager they will not let me.

We had an escrow account set up through them along with our loan financing. They didn't pay our property taxes due to a glitch in their system and never informed us. We tried contacting them to give authorization to pay taxes but the only way they would release our escrow money was for us to either pay out of pocket and get reimbursed or to completely close the escrow account. Now they say they won't reimburse us for the $770 late penalties. The government was one week away from filing legal proceedings against us and the best Cenlar will do is give us a middle finger.

Signed up for the forbearance program because I got laid off. They provided no details other than I didn't have to make a payment for 6 months. I received no letter or email or anything with the details just that I was approved. I assumed it was like college loans where it continues to collect interest but payments just resume after 6 months. NOPE found out today when the **** COLLECTION department called me that the payments just stack up and you owe the lump sum at the end of the 6 months. How is that helpful!? "hey you don't have money now but we expect you to have $8000 at the end of 6 months to give us". Cenlar is a joke, if you can avoid having a loan with them I would.

Worst company ever. They sent a notice that i was short in my escrow account so i sent extra money to escrow. They decided on their own, that the extra money would go to principal. So I'm still short in my escrow account because of their mistake.

A horrible company that has dragged its feet in processing a loan that we inherited. They refused to deal with the heirs and the trustees for more than 8 months, increasing interest rates due to the loan not being serviced, despite them receiving checks from the heir that they did not cash.Every time we called, we had to undergo repeated verification and in most calls, they refused to verify us despite the trustee having undergone verification. Their operators refused to identify themselves refusing to take accountability for their refusal to help. Avoid this company. They are worse than thieves.
