1 starPlease. Do not trust this company. Pay the extra. Make sure claims **** is open 24/7. They offer a lower rate, and bait you to join by allowing you to make payments. I now understand why they offer an extra month if you leave a review. They are not an honest and show no concern for their customers. Most of the reviews I read were from those as myself who had no experience with filing a claim with them. During the coldest month yet with temp in the 20's and highs in the 50's our furnace went out. I called the same day on a Thursday and within several hours heard from an HVAC repairman. He came the next day as early as possible. He was here for several hours and put in the repairs needed around 4pm. I called Select early Saturday morning and was told that since the order came in late and it was the weekend nobody in the claims **** could approve it until Monday. I guess it's my mistake but when you read they have customer server 24/7 one would assume that would include approvals. NOPE! Monday I submit documentation asked for. Tuesday still no resolution. And was told it might not be until Wed by end of day. In their emails they state it may take 24 to 48 hours to hear back. But, end of day Wed is past that. Also, they customer service people are always so apologetic and say they understand. If it was just an appliance broken I would have minded waiting a little. But, this is a furnace. I'm sure they are trained to be a polite as possible. But, through all my calls nothing was done. Each one kept saying it was going to be escalated and someone would get back with me soon.Tuesday after being told it was being escalated I actually got an email from that **** with a different number to call. But, it was the loyalty **** and I was told there isn't a **** called escalations. I cancelled my service. I was told I would receive a partial credit back. If not I'll be back to let you know. I have to wait 1 to 2 days for that email. And 4 to 6 weeks for the check.Review fromtest t

1 starThis business is a SCAM!! Do not purchase warranty from them. You will spend hours on the phone just trying to get a technician out for them to tell you there are none available. I paid for 5 years upfront with no chance of getting a refund. Save yourself the headache and go with another company.Review fromTina C.

1 starI purchased my policy November 8th. Was told about the 30 day waiting period bring coverage on December 6th. My A/C failed Dec 11th. When the technician finally arrived at 9PM we called Select to find out if the $323 repairs were covered. Select never sent me a copy of the policy so I believed the Select Home Warranty representative when I was told the repair WOULD be covered. On Dec 19th Air Shield sent me a bill for the full amount. When I contacted Select and they provided the policy and told me that NONE of the replacement parts for A/C is covered and they denied the claim. I made it very clear I could not afford the repairs and WOULD NEVER have authorized them without Select Home Warrantyapproval. I've been unemployed since August and don't know when I'll have an income to pay this bill. Acting on the information Select gave me is the only reason I allowed the repairs. Select looks for any and all reasons NOT to pay even if it's a small amount and is a hardship to it warranty holders. They "apologize" that they made a mistake by giving me bad information.Review fromLinda P.

1 starIf I could give negative stars, I would. This is the WORST COMPANY. Don't waste your money. They don't cover half of what goes wrong. Our air conditioner wasn't cooling the house anymore. Instead of covering anything, they said they'd reimburse us $600 if we got new ** and sent them a receipt! It takes 4-5 days for anyone to come out. We had to hold a minimum of 20 minutes every time we submitted a claim. We have two houses insured under this company. The first one I cancelled a month ago for terrible service (the ** one) and they took the $600 out of our reimbursement check. We paid $1350 for three years and got back $260. THESE PEOPLE ARE CROOKS. Now I'm cancelling the other housefor the same reason. I've been on hold over an hour now and have spoken to four different people trying to get this cancelled. I have yet to speak to anyone who speaks clear English except for the sales person who sold me the policy. RUN FROM THIS COMPANY!Review fromThomas C

1 starTHE ABSOLUTE WORST, DO NOT CONTRACT WITH THIS COMPANY.CLAIMS DENIED FOR ALL THE WRONG REASONS BASED ON LIMITED INFORMATION VIA A DROP DOWN MENU ON THEIR WEB PAGE. MULTIPLE ATTEMPS ON MY BEHALF TO PROVIDE PROPER INFORMATION TO RESOLVE THE CLAIM ONLY BROUGHT ON MORE FRUSTRATION. WAS TOLD THREE TIMES THE REVIEW WOULD BE EXPIDITED AND NEVER HEARD FORM ANYONE. They told me have someone come by to look at it what they said up to 3 different companies and they closed it with out asking me any questions I know no one stop by I have dogs that bark , also cameras, and I am disabled so home all the timeReview fromDarrion I

1 star***** business practice I signed up not knowing all there cover with my Warranty til I payed & got my invoice by email I'm reviewing my policy to understand alot of things that are not cover that I'm not ok with! As soon as I call to terminate my policy (Selected Home) keeps give me the run around putting me on hold for long periods of time,connecting me to different sell agents, when finally speaking to a supervisor I told him over a 100 times I want to cancel my policy refund my money & please send me a confirmation that my policy is cancel the supervisor keeps going on & on,On what good deals they offer instead of terminate my policy (he told me it would take days to cancel & he would send me a confirmation of my cancel policy by email which I never received my credit card is still pending of the purchase & the supervisor didn't go into details on how or when I'll get my refund! (This is another Home warranty which is easy to sign up that covers you on things that are not really covered & when u want cancel you'll experience long wait time, transfers to wrong departments to help fix the ********************** that don't help solving your problems)Review fromLucy J

1 starTHIS COMPANY IS A SCAM I switched to Select Home Warranty after I owning my home for 1 year. I called and advised them that the home I purchased was 20 years old and had 3 a/c **************** that were approximately 16 years old. I told the agent I spoke with that I wanted to ensure this would not be an issue. They told me it was not an issue and that they would cover all 3 units.4 months into my contract, 1 the a/c and heater broke. I filed a claim, and a repairman was dispatched. Instead of the repair being completed, the repairman only diagnosed the issue and left. I received an email requesting photos of the unit, which I sent via email. 2 weeks went by with no word from Select. When I called, I was told that they would escalate the issue. Finally, I was advised via email that they would reimburse $150 of the repair cost. When I called to find out what that meant, I was told to ask the repairman to come out again, and I should pay him out of pocket. I then had to submit the invoice. They would send me a reimbursement form, which I had to complete and submit. Then, they would reimburse me, but only up to $150.I called the repairman, who advised me that the cost of the repairs would be $750 at a minimum. He also advised that SHW has not paid him for previous work, so he was not willing to make any repairs on their behalf.I called SHW back and was furious. Not only was my a/c and furnace not repaired, but the reimbursement amount didnt come close to the cost of the repair. The rep I spoke with said I needed to provide at least 3 yrs of maintenance records on an a/c that Ive only owned for 1 yr. When I spoke with a supervisor, he suggested I contact my realtor to contact the previous ownerseriously!!I demanded they cancel my contract. They charged me an addotop$75 to be rid of them. I have never had this experience with a warranty company and will not ever use them again.I recommend staying away from this warranty company.Review fromWilhemenia F

1 starI think this business is a fraudulent company. I spent money with this company for about two years. I had a garbage disposal clogged and file a claim. The company did not bother to send someone out to access the problem. They stated that I needed a new disposal and stated that I would have to buy one and have someone install it and then send them the receipt so that I can get refunded $75. Why would I need them if that is all my refund is worth! I told them that I wanted to cancel my account with them. They told me I would have to pay them $75. to cancel my account. I refused to pay them so a so call manager was put on the line and promised me $50 to stay with the company. Then a few weeks later my faucet broke and I filled another claim. I had no water for several days in the kitchen, because I was told I had to wait 3 days, the claim was under review! I was very upset! Then I was told that my faucet was not covered by the warranty. I was really upset! This company has taken my money and I get no service from them! I cancelled the account with them and they in returned debited my account for $75. I threatened to dispute. I guess I should still do that because they was not authorized to take that amount from my account. 1 starI don't know how or why I decided to go with this company without doing my research first. I purchased a 100 year old house in ******** **. The appliances were a few years old, the ** was 2 years old. I called them about my toilet being stopped up...got an email saying it was not covered. I called about a ceiling fan that stopped working...got an email saying it old? My last call was about my garage door that wouldn't go up or down...without even sending a tech out, the decided that it was not working do to the door tracks being broken and its not covered under the warranty. Well the main door spring broke, I just paid someone to fix it. If you call, they automatically say no! Hello Select Home Warranty, before you get started, it's a NO! A total scam and a waste of my hard earned money! Stay far away from this company, if I could do zero stars, I would!
