I took my *********** to visit my family in NY/** in October 2022. On Wednesday, 10/5/22 we drove to ** and encountered tolls where no toll booth workers were working. Because of this, we drove through & expected a toll bill in the mail. We never received a bill but we did receive a letter stating 2 tolls + $100 in processess fees. I attempted to call ezpass but was on hold for over an hour and eventually had to hang up. I went online and challenged the first toll stating there were no toll booth workers and we never received a citation. It was immediately waived and I paid the $6. I attempted to do the 2nd toll and it said sorry you've already received your 1 waived fee for the year. This struck me as odd as it immediately waived it & also why we were hit with 2 tolls within 5 minutes while on the same road? I challenged this via a letter/dispute & paid the toll in question ($2) via check/through the proper channels but only received a statement from a debt collector in the mail. During the past few months I've emailed to no avail & have waited on hold between ***** minutes on 3 separate occasions and no one picked up ever! I even spoke with my best friend who's a Lieutenant for the Metro Transit Authority and was unaware/disgusted at this money making scam to bully people into buying ezpass. In today's day and age when you have people with fake license plates from ********** going through tolls with no punishment and then a system that tries to bleed honest people dry is an atrocity and completely immoral. We traveled to ************* from ** on Dec 3 -4 2022. We do not have an EZ pass account so we were prepared to pay cash at tolls. ** has many tolls and some where coins are required. When tolls are unmanned we could not pay with cash/bills. However when toll bills were received from ** totaling $**** and 4x$50 for Adm **** we were astonished. ** sent ** a toll bill and did not charge Adm **** How can ** get away with this. We only paid the toll fee of )**** and will not visit ************* again. We want to dispute the $200 Adm **** ** should warn travelers to not travel there unless they have an EZ Pass account. My husband and I drove through ** in September and October. I got a text from a debt collector saying I owed money because of a debt from ** E-Z Pass. However I did not ever get a bill in the mail from them. Toll bills are inexpensive and if I did it would have been paid immediately. And you would have guessed if it got lost in the mail I would have gotten a final notice bill or phone call. I tried calling twice only to never have my phone call answered. Then I sent them a message to see if the debt collector information was a scam and they only said it needed to be paid in full and was sent to collections. And I still did not see any record of a bill.I do not want to pay $68 in tolls or have my credit marked because I never got a bill from them. My credit is Excellent. This is super frustrating.Also if you look on ****** youll see hundreds of people have had similar issues with them.Initial Complaint

EZ-Pass is robbing **. This company is out of control and this need to stop. I noticed I'm not the only one complaining about the same issue. They don't care if you are a long time customer. Their administrative fees are insane. For a $3.00 toll, they charged a $30.00 administrative fees. And the problem is the same. Credit cards are having issues in their systems and not working/replenishing payments on time and customers have to suffer the consequences. On top of that, NOBODY ANSWERS THE CALLS. I was on hold for 2 hours and still I was not able to speak with anyone. They just sent a bill/letter asking for administrative fees which are 10 times more than the toll fee. So if you use the toll three times in one day, an administrative fees is added for each occurrence. They even threaten you to send you to collections if you don't pay within 30 days. My question is what is the BBB doing to help all of us that are victims of this new scam...EZPASS-**, DE.Initial Complaint

I have been using both EZ-Pass ************** Jersey for the past 4 years. I have had nothing but issues with them since 2019, where transponders keep failing and I won't know for up to a year because most of the electronic signage is broken (the ones that say EZPASS GO or CONTACT EZPASS), most of the times I get GO EZPASS, and my transponder won't work. I've called numerous times and have waited for up to 5 hours by phone, never got anywhere, and just want a supervisor to pick up the phone. I also don't get ANY mail from ezpass OR tolls by mail, have repeadetely asked for proof for my vehicles crossing said toll lane, and never got a response. I want to pay the tolls that I owe ONLY and not the outrageous fees based on their fault.Initial Complaint

On 10/08/22 I drove through a ** Ezpass toll. Exit 15E ******/Jersey. My EZpass was in the car. On 10/22/2022 I received an advisory and payment request from New Jersey Turnpike authority. Violation # T132290391701. requesting payment for the 10/08/22 toll plus a $50 administrative fee totaling $54.10. On the back of form there is option for non-new Ezpass customers. I completed the section according to the instructions, supplying both my EZpass account number ******** and my ********************** tag # ***********. believing that they take the toll money from my ezpass account. Like they had done in before. However, on 1/08/2023 I received credit collection notice from a collection service demanding full payment of $54.10. tried reach Ezpass customer ********************** but cannot speak to person or leave a message due to excessive call volume. Tried their website but I get a message that my dispute cannot be processed. Therefore, I would like you to help me pay the $4.10 toll charge, cancel the administrative fee, an remove and marks that *** have been added to my credit report.Initial Complaint

I attempted to log in to my account to change my payment method, I was unable to login with for some unknown reason to me. I then called customer ********************** was on hold for 90+ minutes only to be told that no one was available at this time to assist me with any issue at all. Someone will get back to me in 24/48 hours. I have been a customer for over *****. this is not the first time I have been at Ezpass's mercy. There never seems to be any delay on their part when it comes to charging ridiculous penalties, when they see fit. Incidentally that is a nightmare to straighten out as well. My name is *************************************** and my license plate is ******. I recently moved in after my fiance and I had a ***** and bought a house in **********, **. During this time, life was was a bit all over the place and I lost track of updating my ezPassNJ balance at times. In addition, my fiance and I share a car for the past 6 months and have been swapping ezPassNJ tags when one another drive. For whatever reason, in the month of December more or less, one of us went through the toll more than a few times without having sufficient balance in the account. By the time I got my things together and got through the messiness of moving, I finally sat down and started going through these EZpass toll violations. I always intended to pay the toll. I use the highway system everyday and am happy to pay my share. However, I now have over $1,000 worth of fines for a short time. Half of these likely weren't even valid as my fiance likely had his transponder in the car. I am happy to pay the tolls and even one toll "administration" fee. But to charge upwards of $1,000 is predatory. Your system is designed to really punish those who's payment lapses. After all, it is expected that we use the highway system on a daily basis. So with a lapse, it's easy to rack up these violations in a short period, which is what happened to me. I am seeking a peaceful resolution to this. I will not go away. I will continue to complain and write to anyone who will listen. I am going to request a meeting with my congressman, I will contact the division of consumer affairs, and I file a lawsuit if not resolved peacefully. I am a reasonable person and a reasonable person can see that you are taking advantage of people. Here is one of my violation numbers (T132291690327-.01). Please do the right thing and dismiss these violations.
