I was sent a final notice in the mail stating they could help me consolidate my loans. I contacted them gave them all my information and was told there is a 299 document processing fee. I paid this and was told I would be making payments of 49 dollars a month. They have been taking this from my bank account. I was still receiving invoices stating I was not paying my loans and so I contacted superior serving they told me that it was because my *** form had not been process and sent me a new one to complete. I sent his again to them and still was receiving invoices. So I contacted Edfinancial and they relayed to me that this a third party scam and they have not been receiving this money and that I was in fact not on the *** plan. I immediately reported this to my bank for fraudulent charges as well as the *** and my local police department. THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM!!! They have stolen 450$ dollars from me and now have my secure social security information I have puts holds on my credit lines. Watch out they will steal your money and continue to lie to you. They were able to move my loans to a different company somehow so that is very concerning but will be taking this court if possible.Initial Complaint

I reached out to Superior Servicing about an offer to consolidate and lower the amount owed on my loans. I spoke with **** who made promises about an initial $899 payment in 3 installments or one upfront payment of $799 and that Id only be paying $49 a month for the loans from here on out. I did the one upfront payment of $799 on 1-19-24, and then was a payment of $49 was taken of 2-2-24.On 2-21-24 I received mail from Aidvantage about the consolidation options. I looked at my loans and seen nothing was being put to them. After a bit of research I found out that I'm one of many people who were taken advantage of by this scam. I called on the same day 2-21-24 to cancel whatever the allegedly provided. After some arguing with the representative the service was allegedly stop. Still no verification. I also called my bank to put a stop on the withdrawals they were taking. I asked for a refund for the dishonesty, false information of what my loan payments would be and devious tactics to sign with them. But was just confronted with rude customer service and no luck for the refund. BEWARE OF THEMCustomer Answer

Around October I received a letter from this company stating they can assist with my loan. I signed a contract with them in November. I spoke with them, and they told me they can assist me with paying my loans, and setting me up in a low-paying repayment program that, on later review, was wholly inconsistent with any actual repayment program set up by the government. What this equated to was paying them nearly $1000 to merely consolidate my loan (something that can be done for free) through 3 $333 payments, and pocketing the money. Speaking with them on the phone made it seem like the payment would be going to my loan forgiveness. They then set it up so I would pay $49 a month, not telling me the money would not go to my loan repayment, but to them alone to "manage my account". They attempted to set up a "loan repayment program" for my mother's loans, paying them another $999, but we canceled our contracts with them before they could. At no point did they indicate why I was truly paying them, merely making me think I was paying off my loans, when I was doing anything but. They hurried us on the phone to sign the contracts. But when you do read through the contract, the terms are quite unconscionable. I managed to get a refund of the $49 they extracted from my bank account after I argued with them on the phone about the language in the contract. However, they remained adamant about the $999. They closed my account, and I had to change my bank information to prevent any further This is a scam, through and through.Business Response

Hello *****,
All our calls are recorded, and we clearly stated that the amount you paid was a document preparation fee we charge for preparing your federal documents in order to get enrolled into a government forgiveness program, which is called the SAVE plan. The service agreement you attached to this complaint also clearly states what the document fee is for. By signing the service agreement you are agreeing that you knew this information and willingly signed up for our assistance. We will go ahead and honor your request and provide you with a refund. Our customer service department will be reaching out to you to confirm this with you. Our number is **************.

May 31st 2023-Feb 12th 2024 Business sent a letter acting as a debt collector, saying "final notice" that my student loan debt was due and i needed to call by the deadline. Sent the same letter a month after i didnt respond to the first "final notice". Stated that there was a $300 processing fee (however that processing fee came out 3 times), then it would be $49 every month, for 240 months, then loans will be excused. After checking my loans and contacting my actual provider, they havent recieved any payment from me and payment on my loans will not be due until 8/2024. Below is a list of all the transactions starting at May 31st 2023 5/31/2023-$299.67 6/12/2023-$299.67 6/26/2023-$299.66 7/10/2023-$49.00 8/10/2023-$49.00 9/11/2023-$49.00 10/11/2023-$49.00 11/14/2023-$49.00 12/11/2023-$49.00 1/11/2024-$49.00 2/11/2024-$49.00 After calling Nelnet, my ACTUAL student loan servicer, they said they never heard of them, had no affiliation with them, and sent me an email regarding next steps on how to deal with these scammers. I attempted to call Superior servicing on Monday and Today, instead got hold music for a minute until an answering machine kicked in. As a broke, recent college grad, I would love the money back and for this whack business to lose all my information. If this is not resolved by the business I will pursue legal action.Business Response

Hello ********,
The reason nothing was ever done on your account was because you never mailed out the federal documents we had sent you. We clearly stated that this was necessary in order for you to be enrolled in the SAVE program. We also never stated that the fee you paid was going towards your loans; We told you that was the document preparation fee that we charge as a service. You had also signed a contract with us, which is attached to this response, so nothing we did on your behalf was done without your consent. We reviewed your file and have approved your refund. Our customer service department will be calling you to go over the refund process. Our number is **************.

I received a letter from superior servicing last spring promising to consolidate my student loans. I found out later I could have simply done this for free. And not gone through this process. A friend of mine said he went through superior servicing to get his loans consolidated at a super cheap monthly rate of $49/month. I contacted them expressing interest and They charged me $999 on May 2, 2023 and May 9th, 2023 with an agreement for recurring payments of $49 every month for 240 months that DO NOT go towards my loans but to the company. This company is a scam and takes advantage of innocent people who are trying to get out of debt in a way they think will benefit them, but really this program traps people into thinking theyre getting a great deal when they are stuck in a cycle of 20 year payments. What if they lose their government or non-profit job in that time frame? Then they are stuck with the initial loan as well as the accrued interest. Its a ****** and Superior Servicing does a very fine job of toeing the line between civil and criminal activity. Im upset I fell for such a stupid scam and that they have my personal information. DO NOT trust this company. They had me pay $1,300 before my friend and I realized what a slippery company they were. Im glad he found out they were a scam before I gave them any more of my money.Customer Answer

I was recently contacted by a "*****************************", Senior Investigator, with the ************************* Phone number ************. She was calling to follow up on my complaint with the Better Business Bureau. She scheduled a phone call with me this morning 3/11/24 at 9:30 AM CST. She called me 8 minutes late and said her computer needed to "reboot" and had to reschedule our phone call since I only had 10 minutes to talk. She said we need at least 30 minutes to get all of the information she needs about my Superior Servicing complaint and working with an attorney regarding my complain.
I started getting suspicious and looked up the ************************ and found ************************* ********* who is a Commissioner with the **** I then looked up a video of Commissioner ********* and the voice did not match up with the ***************************** I was speaking with.
My question: Is this a scammer trying to get my information or is this a legit person with the same name as ************************* *********? I am very weary after how late she was to our phone call time and her voice not matching up with the Commissioner I saw a video of. Please let me know if I have reason to be suspicious.
Thank you.

Details of this fraudulent transaction:Date: October 18th, November 1st, November 15th, November 29th, December 3rd, of 2023; January 17th, February 5th, February 13th, February 14th, and February 17th of 2024 Amount of money paid to this business: $997.00 What they said they would do: process and confirm loan forgiveness for an amount that had been predetermined and that I qualified for based on my income and public service employment. The nature of this dispute: they basically, very manipulatively and very evasively, led me to believe that they were working in tandem with federal loan forgiveness programs to process loan forgives for people who had been determined to qualify for it based on their individual circumstances. This entire misleading transaction involved them giving me very detailed information regarding the amounts of my student loans, and indicating that in order to process and complete the loan forgiveness I would need to pay a certain amount of small fees that would total close to $1,000. When I asked if it was absolutely necessary to do this, they explained that it was, and that paying these fees would make my loan amount reduce from 75K to 5K. They did not clearly indicate that the amounts being deducted were going directly to them, and not to my student loan debt. In fact, the person I spoke with encouraged me to continue by saying the amount I would be paying was well worth the amount of loan forgiveness that I would receive. My contacts with them: this all started on October 18th 2024 when I contacted them after receiving multiple letters for over a year saying that there was a limited amount of time left to process loan forgiveness. They deducted money from my account 5 times to total the amount of $997.00, between November 1st 2023 and January 17th, 2024.On February 5th I received a statement from the federal government indicating that I still owed the original amount of 75K.This business is basically charging $997.00 for nothing.Business Response

Hello ******,
We were not "manipulative" or "evasive" with any of the process. The initial letter you received and the service agreement you signed clearly stated that we are a 3rd party company that is not affiliated with the government; We never stated otherwise. Also, as mentioned over the phone, the fees we charge are to prepare your federal documents in order for you to get enrolled into an IDR program. We never stated that the fees were going towards your loans. We went ahead and attached the service agreement for yours and BBB's reference. We reviewed your file, and approved your request for a refund. The approved amount was $599.34, since that was the only amount that you were charged. Our customer service department will be reaching out to you to go over the refund process with you. Our number is **************.

I am rejecting this response because: Please refer to the original attachments. This company called me today to "confirm" my address and to tell me that they will be refunding 599 of the 997 that they took from my account. That still leaves 398 dollars that they took, and they are claiming that they cannot refund me for that. Per the person who just called me, they cant refund that amount because it was a "charge back" on my account and it caused them to stop being able to take out money from my account. I asked the woman what this means, and she basically repeated the same thing. I dont understand why they cant refund me the remaining 398. I did attempt to get all of my money back via my bank but they rejected my dispute and I was not refunded anything at that time. From what I am understanding, after I submitted a dispute, this fraudulent company was unable to take MORE money out of my account. I am assuming this means that they intended to take MORE MONEY in addition to the 997?! Oh My God. I am still in disbelief of this whole scam. So much so that I honestly cant say I accept the response to the complaint, because I dont even have faith that they will send me a check for the 599 that they claim was "approved by the manager".
Sincerely,

Hello ******,
We have already approved your full refund amount of $599.34 and one of our managers already went over this with you. The last payment of $299.66, as well as the other 2 payments of $49, came back as NSF. That means there were not enough funds in your account to cover the charges. The only amount we took out of your account was $599.34 and we cannot refund payments that we did not receive. Also, please keep in mind that we are refunding you as a courtesy, as you had signed a service agreement and agreed to the charges made. Your refund check of the $599.34 was mailed out last month and you should've already received it on 3/27. Your account with us has since been closed out and there is nothing more that we can assist you with.

I am rejecting this response because:
Sincerely,
*************************Please see the attached screenshots of my bank account info. They show all of the amounts that this company charged to my account. It also shows that i submitted a claim to my bank that was not paid. They gave me a temporary credit that was eventually reversed. I also have not had any insufficient funds transactions in over a decade. If necessary i can submit bank statements to prove it. Furthermore, the people i spoke with on the phone after I filed this complaint did not say anything about insufficient funds. They said that they tried to charge my account but were unable to because my bank had refused to let the transactions go through.
I get that most of the people this company has defrauded are probably struggling financially, which is why they, like myself, jumped at the opportunity to have student loans pardoned and didnt read the many pages of fine print. And so it probably seems like an easy way for this company to not refund in full by saying that there were no funds in the account that they could take money from. But this is false, at least in my situation. I do not accept this response because i feel i should get a full refund, especially since this company is continuing to lie and be evasive in its practices. Please let me know if there is anything else i need to submit to prove that they in fact did deduct the remainder of the $997.00 dollars that they have not yet refunded.

Hello ******,
We have called you regarding this matter and have sent you proof from a report that our bank sends ** showing that the payments you claim we took were returned due to a stop payment. If you have not received the funds back from your bank we advise you call them, as the matter is out of our hands at this point. *************************PS I was able to confirm with my bank that the additional transactions were not paid. Apparently my bank has really good radar, and even though I had not yet submitted stop payments for the transactions, they didn't allow them to go through because they looked suspicious. I appreciate receiving my money back. I still feel that aside from giving customers their money back, their practices should not be allowed to continue. This situation caused Me a lot of stress and a lot of going back and forth with the bank and with this company. Not to mention the disheartening knowledge that in fact my student loans are not being pardoned at this time, as was indicated to me by this company.

I answered a call from Superior Service and was told to pay $799 as a deposit and $49 monthly going forward and my student loans would be put into one loan. I had made the agreement with them in October and nothing on my credit has changed (no loan consolidation)! So far, I have paid them $897, and my actual student loan company is still sending me letters in the mail as if nothing has changed! I then called ** services and Mohela and they are both telling me they are a scam and that you don't have to pay to do a loans consolidation. I have called this company many times and get a voice mail and the times I get to talk to someone they bet around the ****, and I don't get anywhere. This company is a scam! Very unhappy! Please do not fall for this!Business Response

Hello *******,
That is incorrect. We are not a "scam," and we did not make the initial call, since we do not do "cold calls" as a company. You first called us for assistance with your student loans, and that is what we did. Based off of the federal documents that we prepared for you, your consolidation went through. The only thing your servicer, Mohela, did not process was your IDR form. All you had to do was resend that document and you would've been in the SAVE forgiveness plan. We went ahead and reviewed your file and have approved your refund for the amount of $848, since that was the amount you were charged. Our customer service department will be reaching out to you to go over the refund process. Our number is **************.

Unfortunately, I was scammed into thinking my student loans were being handled by a very believable third party loan servicer called Superior Servicing. After trying to contact them numerous times about repayment, they stopped picking up the phone - but continued to take money from my bank account. In June of 2023 I was contacted by Superior Servicing and told that with the new SAVE plan they were able to consolidate my NelNet loans to EdFinancial and I would be on a repayment plan of $50.00 dollars a month for 20 years. With this plan, I would then be forgiven of any left over loans after the 20 year term had ended. I was obviously very excited about this as I had heard this was a new plan the government was offering people struggling with student loan payments... Unfortunately as I found out today, this has all been a scam and they were never paying EdFinancial the money i was giving them every month, nor did they pay EdFinancial the $899.00 i initially paid in "down payment on the consolidation of the loan" back in June. I would also like to add that during this entire time (from June 2023 to current) I was told not to answer any communication from EdFinancial as Superior Servicing had assured me EdFinancial was just trying to get a larger monthly payment from me and my account was being paid. Lastly, this entire time my credit report was showing that I was not delinquent with my loans with EdFinancial so I had put doubt aside with Superior Servicing. It was only when I checked my credit karma account today that I was able to see that since December I have been behind on payments.. That is what prompted me to call Superior Servicing and when I got no answer after attempting multiple times, I thought it was time to reach out to EdFinancial. Unfortunately, this is where I found out about the scam. I am beyond disgusted with how violating this whole experience has been.Business Response

Hello ********,
It seems like you have a misunderstanding of what we do. We are not a "scam," we are not a loan servicer, and never claimed to be one. We are a 3rd party document preparation center that prepares federal documents for applicants to enroll in government programs. The fee we charged by no means was a "down payment" for your loans. We clearly stated over the phone, which was on a recorded line, that it was the document preparation fee that we charge in order to help you with these documents. The documents were sent to you on May 16th, 2023 at 4:03pm via email; Our email also had clear instructions that you had to print, sign, date, and mail out the documents we prepared for you in order for the consolidation to take place and for you to get enrolled into the SAVE program. We had also tried calling you multiple times throughout the process to ensure that you had mailed your documents, but the call would ring a few times and then drop. Furthermore, we have reviewed your file and have approved your refund. Please call our customer service department at **************. We will be confirming your mailing address in order to mail you a refund check.

I was looking for help with payments for my student loans since payments restarted in October 2023. I discovered a letter in the mail from Superior Servicing, LLC stating they would help lower my student loan payments. I reached out to this company in hopes they will be able to lower my payments. I spoke to an agent that already knew all my information already. He knew the colleges I went to and the total amount that I owed. He said I would have to pay $299.67 three times and that it was to start the process of the paperwork but after that the payment would be $49 per month. I jumped at this opportunity. I sent all forms in that were sent to my email from this company such as the **** I got an email from ****** last week stating that I was past due on my student loan payment. I immediately called them and told them I was already paying them through Superior Surviving, LLC. The lady told me that was a fraudulent third-party company. My heart dropped. I called my bank to put a stop payment so Superior Servicing, LLC would no longer take anymore money, I also put in a claim with my bank stating that Superior Servicing, LLC is a fraudulent company. I called Superior Servicing, LLC and I was given a customer service number. I called the number and the lady gave me the run around and was not clear of whether i would get a refund or not. I want a refund! I paid Superior Servicing, LLC $299.67 on 11/10, $299.67 on 11/27, $299.66 on 12/8 and $49 on 1/22. (please see attachments). A total of $948. Please be aware of the people who prey on people are trying to get their student payments lowered. They are deceptive in their tactics. I contacted an attorney as well to see what other steps I need to take. I will contact the attorney general's office and file a police report as well.Initial Complaint

BBB Business Profiles are provided solely to assist you in exercising your own best judgment. BBB asks third parties who publish complaints, reviews and/or responses on this website to affirm that the information provided is accurate. However, BBB does not verify the accuracy of information provided by third parties, and does not guarantee the accuracy of any information in Business Profiles.
When considering complaint information, please take into account the company's size and volume of transactions, and understand that the nature of complaints and a firm's responses to them are often more important than the number of complaints.
BBB Business Profiles generally cover a three-year reporting period, except for customer reviews. Customer reviews posted prior to July 5, 2024, will no longer be published when they reach three years from their submission date. Customer reviews posted on/after July 5, 2024, will be published indefinitely unless otherwise voluntarily retracted by the user who submitted the content, or BBB no longer believes the review is authentic. BBB Business Profiles are subject to change at any time. If you choose to do business with this company, please let them know that you checked their record with BBB.
As a matter of policy, BBB does not endorse any product, service or business. Businesses are under no obligation to seek BBB accreditation, and some businesses are not accredited because they have not sought BBB accreditation. BBB charges a fee for BBB Accreditation. This fee supports BBB's efforts to fulfill its mission of advancing marketplace trust.
