Beware: Superior Servicing LLC is a scam, here's what I found. It begins with a legitimate-looking letter in your mail. If you ignore it, they will contact you consistently with various ********* based numbers, one of which shows a caller id of "STUDENT ****** When you eventually answer, they devise a social engineering technique where they have your social security number, making it seem as if they only could have gotten it from other loan servicers. They create a time-dependent scenario where you have commence the process asap by providing a fee and recurring payments of $50 for 10 years then the loan will be forgiven and gave access to my bank account. which no had to go into the bank and get a new checking and savings account. Well a simple whois lookup indicates that the domain is registered through goDaddy, and with no registrant name listed. There is however an organization, "Domains By Proxy LLC," listed as their *********************** and Admin. Who is this organization? Its a subcompany founded by the creator of goDaddy that offers privacy services for the actual domain owner. From Wikipedia: Subscribers list Domains by Proxy as their administrative and technical contacts in the Internet's WHOIS database, thereby delegating responsibility for managing unsolicited contacts from third parties and keeping the domains owners' personal information secret. So therefore, finding who actually owns the site is near impossible. The only other thing I have found is that there address is listed to a virtual office space in *********, which is almost certainly not where they are actually operating. If you fall for one of these scams, dispute the charges with your bank under the claim that the company is illegitimate and used deceptive tactics to get you to agree to their agreement. This allowed me to get back any money transferred to them, showing that the terms of their agreement hold little to no weight.Business Response

Hello ******,
We are not a "scam," and all our calls are recorded for compliance purposes. We are a document preparation center for applicants in order for them to enroll into the SAVE or ICR forgiveness programs offered by the government. We provided you with your completed documents on January 26th, 2024. For your program to take place all you had to do was print, sign, date, and mail them out to MOHELA as we had instructed you. You also signed a service agreement with us, meaning nothing we did on your behalf was done without your signed consent. Due to this complaint, your file has already been cancelled out and no further charges will be made to your account.

I was told this service was a government program to consolidate my loans and in would pay a flat rate for 20 years and the rest of my student loans would be forgiven. Every time I try to reach out to customer service to get some answers I never get through and my phone flags the number as spam. On the record lines I was told my loans would be paid and the federal government would be taking over my loan amount as this was a loan forgiveness program. I've made 2 payments of $299 and my loans are going into late payments. Student loan department has also told me this service is a scam and they have been scamming others in student loan debt to give their information away. I want a full refund for my payments as I was taken advantage of, I also have the calls recorded for my own records. I was assured I was no longer responsible for my loan payments as the federal government would be paying off the loan and consolidating them to remove interest and at the end of a 20yr period of on time payments the rest would be forgiven. They took advantage of me and this company is nothing but a huge SCAM!!!Business Response

Hello *******,
We are not a "scam" and you were not "taken advantage of." All our calls are recorded for compliance purposes and kept on file for our records. What we said was true, we assist applicants in getting enrolled into government forgiveness programs. However, we never claimed to be a part of the government. We are a 3rd party company that charges a fee in order to prepare your federal documents for the program to ensure you get the most out of the benefits offered by the government. You also signed a service agreement, so nothing we did on your behalf was done without your consent. Even though we did complete our services by preparing your federal documents, We will honor your request and provide you with a refund. Our customer service department will be reaching out to you to confirm your mailing address so we can mail you a refund check. Our number is **************.

In August of 2023 I was contacted by Superior Serving to consolidate my student loans and get set up for an IDR (Income Driven Repayment Plan). They told me to have my loans consolidated I would need to pay $700, which I did. They then told me that my payments would be $19 a month starting in September and that these payments would be going towards my student loans. I paid them the $19 a month from September 2023 through January 2024. When February came around and I was still receiving statements from my actual loan servicing company that I was past due I contacted Superior Servicing to see what the problem was. They told me that I would need to fill out the exact same paperwork that I had already filled out twice and have it sent in for processing again. When I questioned them as to why I was going to need to fill out this paperwork for a third time they avoided the question or blamed it on my actual loan servicing company. I told them I was not filling out the paperwork again and I asked them what the $19 was going towards since nothing was being processed and they only then told me it was actually a service fee to them. I told them I was told it was supposed to be going toward my loans and that I no longer wanted to work with them. They still have not sent me the cancellation information. I would like to somehow get my money back and let other people know to not go through this company.Initial Complaint

Superior Servicing (***********************************) claimed they would help my husband with his student loans. He thought the $999 they were charging in 3 payments of $333 was going toward his student debt then found out it was for "filing paperwork." We canceled with Superior Servicing and are trying to get his loans back to EdFinancial after finding out many other people had been scammed by Superior Servicing. We would like our $666 (we canceled the last payment of $333) back from Superior Servicing because they are a fraudulent company making claims that they will help with repaying student loans when in reality they are just taking money without helping with anything. They had my husband's information and acted trustworthy then they took the $666 and won't give it back even though we want no dealing with them and are working on repaying my husband's student debt with ************* Superior Servicing did NOT tell my husband what they were really trying to do- take $999 for a bogus "paperwork" charge. This company is a fraud and needs to be stopped before more people with student debt get even further into debt because of this fraudulent and deceptive company. We have tried contacting Superior Servicing by phone, email, and their website and have had NO success.Initial Complaint

Superior Servicing initially contacted me through the mail, and offered to help finance my student loans. At the time, I was unsure of how to go about repaying my loans and how to start making payments, so I was eager to get started (especially since I was nervous and didn't want to miss a student loan payment). I spoke with a customer service agent over the phone and we set up a payment plan of $49 a month. They told me they were affiliated with EdFinancial and would help me move my student loan amount over to EdFinancial (which I've come to discover isn't a real service). There was also an initial fee to move the funds to EdFinancial, I believe it was around $300. I sent all banking and agreements about payments through the mail to the address that I listed (as far as I can tell there is no website for the company which is another reason why I grew suspicious). This all occurred in May of 2023. I made monthly payments of $49 for the next several months until January 2024 when I grew suspicious. When I went online to research I found online forums that confirmed my suspicions. At this point I have closed those banking accounts they had access to but I am still concerned that this company could use this my personal information like my Social Security number. Truthfully, I'm not filing this claim today because I want my money back, I want to spread the word about this organization and for BBB to protect me if these scammers try to use my personal information. I have taken other measures to protect myself - although I am not sure at this point that my Social Security card is being used or has been used - since I wanted to do my due diligence for myself and so that no one has to go through what I've gone through in this process. Having something like this happen fills my gut with cloying anxiety at least once a day, and no one should have to feel that way for simply wanting to pay back their student loans. Thank you for your time and for all the good work you do.Initial Complaint

My story is nearly identical to all the others. I was told that I could pay a service fee of $899 to apply for a loan that I would pay $50 dollars a month towards. With this many of the same complaint it is clear what the intentions of this company is. Unfortunately I received that mail sooner than the information that I could have done this for free online through my loan provider. I was told specifically by ************************* that this $50 monthly payment would go towards my new 10 year student loan. If the line is recorded then there is evidence of this. I now am stuck with this $50 a month payment for a loan forgiveness plan that I dont even qualify for, on top my my student loan payment I cant afford. I am heart broken to have been taken advantage of this way and will be taking the steps to cancel these services.Initial Complaint

Im in a complete awe of this company! I have called the department of education in October of ************************************************************************* reduce them to zero due to my personal situation and what did they do? They directly transfer me to these predators who knowingly convinced me under clearly false pretenses that they are the people who will be handling my loans and were able to lower my payments to 49$ a month while charging 799$ upfront fee. Wouldnt you be happy hearing that?! Oh and apparently after 240 monthly payments you loans would be forgiven by the government! Such outer lies I tell you! They took 799$, they took now 5 49$ monthly payments from me and edFinancial I come to find out is my new loan servicer has seen non of these money and have seen non of these paperwork which was sent to them directly (with the requested receipt via ****** So Ive payed to this scam of a company over 1000$ since October to do what?! The guy who worked with me does not reply back, none of the money Ive payed to this place went towards my loans, I still have to process an application with edfinancial because they are telling me Ive been scammed and now it can affect my credit because I may default due to missing payments directly to my loans! On top of all this they also have my ssn and my bank account! This is ridiculous! Im in outer shock from finding this out now!Initial Complaint

Back in September I received a letter regarding consolidating my student loans.I called the number and spoke with a representative. I was sent information regarding monthly payments, which was set at $299.67 on Sept. 29, 23,$299.67 on Oct. 13, 23, and $299.67 on Oct. 27, 2023 and then $49 monthly beginning Nov. 10th, 2023. I recently reviewed my student loan information and not one payment has been made on my account, and neither am I able to view any account information. I tried calling this company and have not reached anyone and no one has returned my call. No payments have been made toward my student loans.Initial Complaint

Superior services first contacted me via mail stating they would consolidate my student loans and I would pay initial 900 fee and 49/month.At this time I receive notice regarding my loans from original provider. None of the payments I have made to this company go toward my loans despite them saying they will.I have not received any statements regarding an accurate balance.I have not received communication via phone and email. At this time they took money for a service they did not provide. My student loan provider contacted me with a monthly payment amount different from what superior quoted me. I have been mislead, gave them pertinent information and now they are gone in the wind not responding with all my info against my consent. Took my money and didnt apply it. And now I am back at square one with a higher loan amount. I have been making payments for over 6 months with nothing to show for it.I want to know what to do about my monies and information the collected.Initial Complaint

This company tried to threaten me into signing up with them to help enroll in a program that would eliminate my student loan debt after 10 years. They are scam. Artists and their entire company is fraudulent.Business Response
Date: 02/26/2024
Hello Tahany,
That is incorrect. We do not "threaten" anyone into signing up for anything and we are not "scam artists. We are a document preparation center, and you had called us in for assistance. The program we were trying to assist you in getting enrolled into was the **** program. This is a real program that is offered through the government. You decided to not proceed with our services, so we went ahead and deleted all of your information, and we can no longer assist you. We wish you the best of luck with your student loans.
Best Regards,
Superior Servicing
