I received a letter in September that my account with M&T Bank was closed. They did not include anything about a monthly fee, and I was under the impression I was no longer a customer. I received a letter that they sent my account to collections for uncollected fees. They didn’t contact me until now about them. I have not received a phone call or an email from them, except emails soliciting me to apply for loans and credit cards. It’s terrible business, I will pay the fees and I would’ve paid them to begin with if they sent me a letter beforehand. I haven’t even been able to log into my online account for months and I can never reach anyone when I call. I will pay the fees, but I want the collection settled and removed from my credit report. I have perfect payment history otherwise.Business Response

All started from one single Car loan payment was late by 7 days but from that moment on M&T bank repeatedely reported no payment on my credit. Multiple calls were made and resubmitted proof payments were coming out automatically from my bank and being deducted from the total bill each and told it was resolved numerous times yet each and every month it was reported to my credit for several months until they repo'ed the car ! M& T bank is literally repeating the exact same scheme with the remaining balance from the repo sale loan!! I am going to have to get an attorney.Business Response

I spoke with Madelyn from M&T bank last week and I thought we were in the process of reviewing the records. I again have attached proof of two most recent payments and will be mailing the statement once I receive it. I reviewed this with M&T during the call which was recorded. I’m gathering the additional statements requested by M&T at this time so show payments were made by my daughter

M&T closed my business checking account without my knowledge. There was $781.00 in the account. Customer service said a check was being mailed to my address.
Week over a month has past and three called to customer service who promised a check would go out and nothing. This is a scam to hold money. At this point the bank has stolen my money. Everyone on the phones has been pleasant but no check.
My original branch was in Darien. But mergers and such have moved the account around.

M&T Bank is the lender for my mortgage. In August 2024, they made an error showing that we missed a mortgage payment. We did not. They reported to credit bureaus that we missed a mortgage payment which tanked our credit scores. We were comfortably in the 750 range. After their false report, we dropped to 575 and have been unable to buy a new car which we need to do desperately. M&T Bank has refused to correct the error and has not responded to our credit repair company’s requests for them to confirm their error. I’m an attorney. If this problem is not solved rapidly, I’ll be filing suit against the company.Business Response

To whom it may concern,
I have an auto loan with M&T Bank and the vehicle was deemed a total loss since mid October. On October 16th, my insurance company ******* Insurance requested a letter of guarantee from M&T Bank and a 10 day pay off. There was an error with the VIN# on M&T Bank's side and was not able to produce any information to my insurance company. On October 23rd, my insurance representative and myself called M&T Bank on a three way call and fixed the VIN# issue and once again requested a letter of guarantee and a 10 day pay off with M&T Bank. M&T Bank has specified that a letter of guarantee can take 2-3 days to produce a letter of guarantee, which should have put it at October 26-27th at the latest and today is November 21st and still no letter of guarantee has been produced. M&T Bank is still charging me daily interest on this auto loan. I have requested for M&T Bank to stop all interest charges since this is solely the fault of M&T Bank and to no avail because M&T Bank has told me that the interest charges cannot stop until the loan is paid in full. My insurance representative and myself have called and emailed numerous times to get this resolved and every single time, M&T Bank say's "three more days Mr. *********". I do not know what else to do in this matter.

In August of 2024 I took my cousin to M&T to open an account and while there the representative informed me of the refer a family and friend option. Using the refer a family or friend entitled myself and the new account holder a $50.00 **** gift card once the qualifications required were met. All qualifications were met but neither of us received the gift card. I called the M&T customer service number and explained the situation and was told I needed to contact the branch the account was opened at. Well we contacted the branch and we told they couldn't help I needed to speak with customer service. I talked with customer service again and the representative I spoke with that time checked into the matter and asked if I could call back the following day because she emailed a department and was waiting for a response. The representative also said that she would leave a notation attached to my account for whichever representative answered my call so that person could let me know when I would receive the gift card. When I called back on 11-14-2024 at 12:22 pm, the answering representative said she could not help me. I explained the conversation I had with the representative on 11-12-2024, but she said it was nothing she could do. I asked to speak with a supervisor and I was placed on hold for about 5 minutes and she came back on the phone and said there was no one there I could speak with. I told her I was going to file a complaint with the BBB and transfer my account to *** since M&T wasn't able to assist their customers. She said okay fine, thanks for calling M&T and hung up. That representative was extremely rude and unprofessional. And I feel that after referring a family member as advertised by M&T I should receive the promised **** gift card.Business Response

We paid off our **** in April of 2017. M&T sent us a letter confirming it was paid off and they were releasing us from the title lein. I called M&T back then to ask when we'd receive our title. I was told they are held electronically. Now in 2024, PA DMVsays M&T violated the ELT regulation. M&T did not release our title. I called M&T and our loan info has been deleted due to age. They still haven't released the title. I faxedthem copies of their letter and our current registration but still no released title. UNACCEPTABLE! We plan to call our lawyer. It is illegal to hold a title on a paid off vehicle.Business Response

I opened a M&T bank MyChoice Plus Checking (Account Number
**********) on 9/12/2024 using the promo code ** that I received from them. The promo code ** was for a $500 sing-up bonus when the requirement is met. The requirement for the $500 bonus was to receive a direct deposit of $1000 or more within 90 days of account opening.
I received a direct deposit of $1001 from my employer ***** ******* ********** on 9/30/2024, and thus met the requirement for the bonus.
However, they have not provided me the $500 bonus as advertised. When I contacted them via secure message, they response was that “The promotion stated that offers may vary by region and may not be available in all regions. My research showed that the promotion is only available to individuals living in the New England Region. As a result, you do not qualify for this cash bonus. I apologize for the misunderstanding.”. and they denied to pay the $500 bonus to me.
I am not satisfied with this. If they claim the promo is only available for individuals living in the New England Region, they why did they send the promo advertisement to me and accepted my application using the promo? If they claim that the promo is available only for those in the New England Region, they should not have sent to me the advertisement with the promo code and should not have accepted my application using the promo. Since they sent me the advertisement with the promo code and accepted my application using the promo, they should honor me the $500 bonus.
