      My mother died and I was a beneficiary on a checking account and an IRA. I went to the bank to move the money. I was convinced to first open both a savings and a checking account and then told I could move the IRA into the savings acct. The employee moved the money into the checking account instead and then when I learned from an outside source that I should have moved it into an INHERITED IRA to not pay taxes they would not redo the transfer. Only 7 days had passed since the transfer and my mothers account is still open because the other beneficiaries money is still there. M and T refuses to put the money into an inherited IRA.

      I was a victim of check fraud. I deposited a check for $25,000, the funds showed as pending that day. The next morning the funds showed as available, the bank made the entire amount of those funds accessible to me that same day and almost the entire $25,000 of funds were withdrawn. The next day, the bank reversed the check and credited my account -$25,000 after allowing me to withdraw the original $25,000 that the bank made accessible to me. a dispute report was opened and an investigation performed which determined that the check issuer initiated a stop payment on the check, after the funds had been withdrawn.

      The bank should have exercised a heightened level of care and due diligence specifically in regards to the large amount of the deposit and extremely inconsistent deposit history on the account rather than making the full amount of the funds immediately available without any due diligence.

      The bank; after reversing the check, crediting my account, and bringing the balance negative, the bank allowed additional fraudulent transactions to incur an additional negative balance on the account.

      The banks actions constitute: Promissory Estoppel, Breach of Contract, Defamation (Libel), Tortious Interference with Business Relations, Violations of UCC Standards, Deceptive Business Practices, Conversion, and Unjust Enrichment

      I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.   I was a victim of check fraud. I deposited a check for $25,000, the funds showed as pending that day. The next morning the funds showed as available, the bank made the entire amount of those funds accessible to me that same day and almost the entire $25,000 of funds were withdrawn.       I am writing to file a formal complaint against M&T Bank regarding their ongoing practice of holding available funds from our business deposits, citing "check verification" as the reason, without taking adequate steps to complete this verification. This situation is causing significant financial distress and risk to our business.

      Our business, ********* **********, has deposited checks with M&T Bank, and a substantial portion of these funds has been held, marked as "unavailable" pending verification. While we understand that banks may need to verify certain deposits, our primary concern is that M&T Bank has failed to contact our clients to perform the necessary verification of these checks. Despite the passage of a considerable amount of time, no contact has been made with the issuing parties, leaving our funds in an indeterminate state.

      As a business, the withholding of our available funds places us in a precarious financial position. We rely on these funds for essential operations, including the payroll and expenses. The prolonged delay and the bank's apparent inaction in completing the verification process are severely impacting our cash flow and operational stability.

      We request the Better Business Bureau's intervention to prompt M&T Bank to:

      Immediately verify the outstanding checks by contacting our clients.

      Release our held funds and make them available for our business use without further delay.

      We believe that M&T Bank's failure to diligently process these verifications, despite acknowledging the issue internally, constitutes an unfair business practice that is detrimental to our operations.

      We look forward to your prompt attention to this matter and a swift resolution. Please let us know what steps we need to take to assist in this process.

      My name is ******* ****, and I recently opened an account with M&T Bank (Account # **********) specifically to qualify for the promotional bonus associated with completing the required direct deposit. Despite fulfilling all the necessary criteria, the promotional bonus has not been credited to my account. Upon inquiry, I was informed that the account opener (Bank Manager) failed to enter the required promotional code into the system.

      I have reached out multiple times via email and phone for clarification and resolution, but I have yet to receive a direct or satisfactory response. I am now submitting this official complaint in the hope of having the issue promptly addressed and receiving the promotional bonus as promised.

      On 06/2025 I went to m and t bank on **** **** ******* and deposit a settlement check for the amount of 12,500 see attached document. They placed a hold on the check and then removed funds for no reason whatsoever see attached documents

      On May 19 i lost my debit card . Four transactions were charged against my debit card totaling $530. I notified the bank of my lost card. They tentatively credited a new debit card with $530. Today (June 6 ) i received a letter from the bank saying their investigation revealed i was responsible for these debits. How can i be responsible for some thief cleaning out my bank account?

      My mortgage company *** ****** sent out a check to ******** ********* ******* for my homeowner policy. ******** claims they never received the check. However, this check was cashed by M&T bank. M&T bank has bounce me from call center to call center that no one handles Check fraud. Because at this point it's check fraud if they allowed someone else other than the Pay to company to cash this check. I have proof of the front and back of the check showing M&T deposited this check. The signatures on the check and the account that it was deposited to. The check is for almost 3,000.00 and no M&T bank in person to dispute this to. I need urgent information as to who cashed this check because it needs to be refunded, as the ******** did not cash the check and I had to pay for my policy again. The check came from Insurance servicing center. ** *** ***** *********** ** ********** ***** * ******* cashed on 06/26/2024 in the amount of $2,735.00

      I recently withdrew the remaining balance from my account (Account Number: **********) and closed it. However, despite my request, the bank refused to provide a receipt for the withdrawal.

      As a customer, I believe I am entitled to receive a withdrawal receipt for money withdrawn, as it serves as important documentation of the transaction. However, I was denied this receipt by the Bank. I am not asking closing statement, but only withdrawal transaction receipt, which was denied.

      Please let me know whether I am entitled for a transaction receipt (Not closing statement)

Since the bank lied to the customer, I am taking this outside the BBB, until I find justice. Lying to the customer is not acceptable.

      I have a mortgage with ******** which is serviced by M&T Bank. At the origin of my loan I was required to pay PMI based off the appraisal value and the down payment that I had available at the time. Original purchase price was $690k and I put approximately $120k down which put me at approximately 17.4%. I called today to speak to an agent to inquire about removal of PMI because as of 5/1/2025 I had payed my principle down to over 20%. Additionally, there is a note on my mortgage portal with ******** that indicates that I am eligible to have PMI removed as of June 2025. The agent I spoke to on 5/30/2025 informed me that I can request a "review to have removed" but there is no information that indicates I am eligible for removal until June of 2026. The review would require me seeking a new appraisal, at my expense, to see if I was eligible for removal. I have had one other mortgage in my past with another lender and once I breached 20% the PMI was removed automatically with no request for review. The agent I spoke to stated that they do not see on their end the note that I read to her on my portal that stated that I am eiligible to have removed as of June 2025, not June 2026. I have paid my mortgage payment on time every month since it's origination so there is no red flags on my end for the PMI to be necessary any further. There is no reason that was explained to me as to why ******** would continue to charge me for an additional year.

      Financed an RV through them at the dealership. Paid monthly payment for a few months and then Paid the loan off through their archaic banking portal.(Seriously just a step above smoke signals...) After a month or so I got a statement saying the payment didn't go through and that I owed fees. It never hit my bank so my bank can't tell me what happened. M&T closed my online access to the account when they said I paid off the loan which I verified through their online banking department. I had online statements only and I am trying to figure out why my pay off didn't go through and get them paid, but they won't talk to me or even send me a payoff statement without knowing what my last payment amount was, which was the payoff amount. I have no Idea what that number was since it never hit my bank account and they have me blocked out of online access! I have spent over an hour on the phone and talked to 4 different people so far and now they say they will have to call me back. So I guess their tactic is to just try to ruin my credit while amassing late fees and interest. This is even after verifying my SSN and all other pertinent information to the loan. All the information they are requiring for me to talk to them they have blocked access to. This has to be illegal. A hot poker to they eye would be better than dealing with these people. Run away. I fully expect that they will say that this is to protect people yada yada yada, but sending a payoff statement to the address on the account or to the email on the account would be doing the person that has the loan a favor and be alerting them to possible fraudulent activity, not a security risk. Everyone says the same thing, "I can't help you because we have to follow procedure." I do understand the importance of procedures, however when your procedures are offering zero protection and just a blind religion you're employee drones are following so they can keep their jobs instead of using common sense, It's just ridiculous.
