      This incompetent company acquired our mortgage in early 2025, and promptly raised our mortgage almost 30%. Our monthly escrow increased nearly $450, and when asked we were told to contact insurance, which we were told increased $450... ANNUALLY. Combined that with the near $200 escrow shortage charge that we've gotten charged EVERY MONTH, and the near $200 "other" charge that nobody can explain or do anything about, this company has been overcharging us by at least $6-700 a month. This is a bank, that can't do banking calculations. That is absolutely terrifying.

      I called M&T bank several times due to their fraud holds and I wasted so much time on the phone and wanted to close the account. Was directed to the branch to withdraw my money and close it but the branch gave me the money and couldn’t close it then I called and they said the system is not allowing them to close it. Quite literally a nightmare. They still wouldn't close my account

      On April 16th 2025 I did a international wire transfer in the amount of $9925 at M&T Branch, ** **** **** ******, New York, NY with branch officer named Terence. Wire never reached the recipient bank, confirmed by the M&T. & They told me the funds will be sent back to my account. It is now May 27th 2025 & I still have not received my funds. I have kept being prolonged by the bank. I have gone to the branch, called multiple times but they keep giving me the same answer. "Let us reach out to the wire team." 2.5 weeks ago, Terence told me over the phone the wire team had received confirmation from recipient bank that they never received the funds so the funds will be in my account in 3 days. Obviously didn't happen. Rather after 5 days when I called again, Terence said "The Wire team will let us know when they will start sending the funds back." So did he lie 5 days ago? & he did not bother reaching out to me in those days to update unless I reached out myself?
      The worst part was on that day Terence hung up on me in the middle of our conversation. When I called the branch again,no one picked up continuously. When transferred to Terence finally, he did not pick up.
      Is this your level of customer service? for an established bank customer. i have not been 1% rude to anyone at the branch despite my money being taken away for 1.5 months. You can check your call recordings & CCTV of whenever I spoke to them in person/over the phone.Not once have I been rude & I still get hung up on? The branch tells me to call customer service & when I call them they say only branch officers can speak to the wire team. It's ridiculous

      Lastly, because of this wire not being sent correctly by your bank & then the funds not given back to me in time to resend the wire - I incurred a $19,125 fees in expenses not being paid in time. I have a receipt for that being paid. I am now filing this complaint for the return of my original funds & funds to cover this loss I have faced because of your bank

      Hi.  Today is Thursday May 29th 2025 and I have still not even received my original funds kept by M&T Bank.  I don't know how to express my distraught and tense state over text, because of M&T keeping my money. It is outrageous.  And I don't understand the fact why you cannot pursue them for the losses I have faced because of them. I have facts. I have sent you the receipt of the Wire with additional fees being paid to the same vendor. From my business account.  Nevertheless, I don't know what to do at this point. If you can then atleast get me back my original funds that would be amazing. It has almost been 1.5 months that they have kept my money for.  If you can get them to return my own original funds they are keeping, I will send them a letter today informing them of this complaint and letting them know if they do not cover the losses I have faced - I will be going to court.  Thank you.

      I certainly do not accept this default, automated response from the bank. This is the same nonsense and lies being fed to me by their branch managers and officers for more than 1.5 months. Even if I am to believe the bank's response, its taking them more than 1.5 months to connect with the recipient bank and recall my funds back? Is M&T Bank that incompetent? They certainly are as per this response and the behaviour and mediocrity of their branch officers. Their branch officer messed up the wire transfer which caused me an additional $19,125 in losses. And then continued to delay and prolong me with lies and nonsense for 1.5 months. And then even had the audacity to hang up on me, literally hang up in the middle of me conversing and talking - multiple times. And at this stage they don't even pick up my calls. Keeping me on hold continously.  I need my money back immediately!!  And lastly, regarding your response to the losses I incurred - you are liable for it as I had to cover those losses due to the incompetency and dishonesty of your bank. Therefore you will certainly reimburse me for that. Otherwise I will be going to court, 100%

      I'm a mortgage owner and my mortgage got transferred to m&t the beginning of this year and right when it did my mortgage **** near doubled and so it got hard to pay and So I applied for their payment supplement program and got approved to lower note for 36 months and I've been waiting for the documents so I can get them notarized and it's about to be a month since my documents should have been here and now I'm worried I'm gonna lose my house

      I notified the bank that I would like to close my account and an unauthorized charge was attempted by *** *** witch resulted in an overdraft fee I respectfully asked for the fee to refunded and the account closed. I have repeatedly had horrible customer service with this bank. They do not properly notify you of over draft fees. I have never authorized them to make payments that would overdraft my account. i want the 14$ fee refunded and the account closed. Account number ends in ****

      I deposited about 10,000$ into my checkings account and attempted to withdraw some of the money through zelle to put in another bank account, and suddenly I can not access my M&T online banking account. Additionally I have no debit cards to access my money, and the staff at the branches are too rude and difficult to work with to retrieve my money that way. (Also their hours are attrocious)

      I have paid this bank 6 payments first payment due in February page 1 proof of payment bought this house in December 2024 on the taxes I owed 1 month the previous owner paid 11 months in closing on 4/25 they paid the previous owners taxes from one of my payments but the taxes were already paid i paid them myself on the taxes in closing I only owed 1 month I paid it was $200+ and the amount of closing the previous owner owed statement shows them paying that tax I do not owe her is the payment where the tax office returned it to them they took one of my payments out to pay it and they never have put it back on the payments Lake view page shows where the tax money was sent back to M&T next paper shows unapplied funds $2292.65 another paper shows I have $856.46 I sent M&T Bank a paper showing I will pay the taxes and insurance which they asked me to send to them at Lending Services Customer Support in Buffalo NY which I did send it to them and signed it I can no believe that this company would take one of my payments and pay the previous owners taxes and will not put it back on my account and they still show I owe $4503.26 Thank you

      I bought the house in December 2024 I owed 1 months taxes which was $240 they paid the person I bought the house off ofs taxes for the year of 2024 how many other people will they pay out of my check I sent them $1728.84 for 6 months and the 7th month is on its way I will not pay into an escrow because I pay my own insurance and my own insurance it has already be arranged to pay next years taxes and insurance has been arranged to be paid before it is due the contract I signed was not the way it was supposed to be and I stopped the process at closing and told them that it was wrong I AGRRED TO BUY IT WITH me paying the taxes and insurance the relator lied to me and the finance company lied to me and then they sold it to another finance company and that company told me to send them a letter saying that I would pay the taxes and insurance I signed it and sent it to the Detroit office they can do what ever they want but I will not pay the escrow they can stick it up their *** plus I'm 100% VA veteran and I get $200,000 off my property taxes that I have to pay because of SD state law this company can stick it up their *** they can take me to court but I will not pay it when they pay some else's taxes how can I trust them

      Recurring problem trying to make monthly payment of $394.82
      on acct. #********************* Disconnect between M&T, the note holder and ****** ***, my credit union. After research conducted by my credit union, the problem apparently lies with M&T Bank.

      I have made many calls and spent hours on the phone with representatives of the bank. They insist the problem lies with me or my credit union. When l point out their error, they refuse to acknowledge or accept responsibility. I get placed on hold, disconnected but never get a resolution.

      I found out that today they reported a late payment to the Credit Bureau. They insist there is nothing that can be done about it. I am 82 years old and have never had a late payment nor derogatory on my credit report. I am requesting assistance through the BBB.

      March 21,25,31. Father in law pronounced dead 12:05, at 12:06 ATM card used to withdraw money and 2 more transactions. Going from over $2700 to near $25. We were not allowed to close account after his passing so that checks could be cleared instead someone used an ATM to drain it. 2 months later we can’t even get the $25 dollars but you allowed $2700 to be taken with no problem. My wife was to be POD not the ATM card. We were in town for short time to bury him and were told by police we were going to most likely file with 3 different agencies since we live 1600 miles away we needed to get back home

      One star is too high of a rating. We purchased an rv at a big name dealer and they begged us to finance. So we did. When we went to pay it off they gave us a payoff amount and we sent the money. After a week - the funds never left our bank so I called to see why and was told they were returned NSF. Absolutely not the truth. The account had over $10k more than the payoff amount in the account. Complete lie. The online account was closed so I had to get it reopened - 3 phone conversations later the payoff amount was higher - of course - but it was sent again. I requested an email with confirmation of receipt and was told they don’t email. I spoke to a supervisor who said she would email me. It’s been 2 days and the funds still have not been taken from our account. The online account is once again closed and here we go again. These are predatory and deliberate tactics to bleed more interest out of us. I will be reporting this to the FTC and the attorney general for an injunction against this bank. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD ANYONE DO BUSINESS WITH THESE CROOKS.

      I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  
      After many attempts to get this resolved we were left with more lies and misinformation. The young man we spoke to most recently even lied and said he faxed us the payoff letter which is absolutely false. We haven’t had a fax machine in 25 years. When I asked what number he sent it to he gave me a ************** which is a Spam alert number according to public data. If our personal information was sent to a third party that’s also breach of contract.  we provided screen shots of our bank balance every day for the week the payment was supposedly presented to the bank. No indication of the transactions ever happened. They lied to squeeze more interest out of us disgraceful.
