      I have been issued a return refund from ***** on 9.18.24 for the amount of $1139.83. I have called both *****/M&T since that day and all the information that I'm receiving is it has been released, it has been returned, ***** has to submit the approval, M&t states that it's ***** that has to release the funds. Again I have been calling both. Now today 9.21.24 payment has been posted as a charge and no one seems to know how or why. Now m&t wants me wait until Monday 9.23 to file a dispute which I don't understand if the money is there why can't they release the funds and once the transaction clears they will receive the funds back? I thought your bank supposed to offer support when it comes to your accounts? I will be closing my account once I receive my refund.

      2. They refuse to provide proof of ownership
      3. They have said via taped conversations that they do not own the account and it is paid off in full

      I must formally rebut several points made in your letter1. Failure to Investigate My Dispute Under the FCRA: You claim that M&T is not obligated to respond to portions of my dispute, citing that my requests are “overbroad, unduly burdensome, and irrelevant.” This assertion does not excuse M&T from its obligation under the (FCRA) to investigate disputes concerning inaccurate information being reported. The FCRA (15 U.S.C. § 1681s-2) places a duty on furnishers of information, such as M&T Bank, to investigate the accuracy of the information they report to credit bureaus when a consumer disputes the validity of the account. Your failure to fully investigate and respond to my identity theft claim constitutes a violation of my rights under the FCRA. 2. Unverified Fraudulent Account: You allege that the M&T **** Credit Card was opened electronically on January 9, 2024, and provided monthly statements to support your position. nor did I receive any prior notice or documentation regarding its creation. Simply providing transactional records and monthly statements does not constitute sufficient verification of the validity of this account, Furthermore, your conclusion that “no fraudulent activity has taken place” is not based on a comprehensive investigation and is inconsistent with the evidence I have provided regarding the unauthorized nature of the account. 3. Failure to Acknowledge FCRA Opt-Out Rights: M&T Bank has also failed to address my concerns related to the opt-out provisions under 15 U.S.C. § 6802, which mandates that I have the right to restrict the sharing of my personal information with third parties. Your refusal to respond to portions of my dispute relating to this issue is not only dismissive but violates my rights under federal law. 4. Inaccurate Reporting to Credit Bureaus: You state that M&T is reporting this account to the credit bureaus and confirm that the reporting is “valid and accurate.” I disagree with this characterization, ******* ******

      I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. M&T continuing to be non compliant to the FCRA. your response dated October 4, 2024, regarding the account in dispute has yet to be corrected. It appears that M&T Bank has failed to adequately address my concerns regarding the unauthorized transaction and the violations of my rights under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA). Failure to Address Privacy Violations under 15 U.S.C. § 6802

      I have a cashiers check from my bank, M &T bank. The cashier check expired, it was issued August 2019. I went to my bank to have it reissued. Without being able to show me proof, I was told it was sent to nys unclaimed funds. Nys comptroller office does not have my money. M & T is not helping me locate my $5000. The manager of my bank has not even returned my phone call.

      I and my brother reached out to M&T Bank disputing unauthorized debit card purchases $1,464.36 this was submitted (2) two times and no response from M&T Bank.       Opened a HELOC with M&T bank for paying off debt. Jennifer N******* at the ******* Ave ******** office kept convincing me they preferred the payoff debts since they do it all of the time and it helps with accounting. Provided all of the account and loan number for them. They had problems paying off the debt and the checks were returned. The HELOC loan amount and interest being paid is on the full amounts as if everything was paid. I have made payments to the places of debt since with the same info I provided M&T without issue. They note since it is required for them to pay off the debt I have to provide he same info they seem unable to make work. The loan amount is $54K beyond what they paid and all of the interest I am incurring and on the HELOC. Then I am still paying the actual debts and interest as well. Opening a M&T HELOC only doubled my debt and interest with nothing to show for it. This is very underhanded and they have no interest in making any of this work since they are making money and interest on a non-existent debt.

      After receiving a promotional voucher through the mail, I opened a checking account with M&T Bank at the ****** ****** ** **** *** ****** ** New York City. I was reassured that I met the criteria and would be paid the bonus by my banker, but nothing was done. I have called their customer service multiple times to no avail. I am not sure what is going on, but I need help resolving this. I attached a copy of the email from my banker confirming I would be paid - nothing has been received.

      MT bank opened a loan on a camper that they sent me a lien release on saying they have no security interest in the vehicle with the vin number then notarized it. Then opened another loan I told them I didn’t want them to open . I reached out to VP Michelle D***** and she said she would take care of this and get back to me it’s been a month and I haven’t heard back from her. My credit took a two hundred point hit because of this I had excellent credit . I need help please

      I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  I am writing to address unresolved issues related to the purchase of my 2024 ******** ******* ****** ******* from ******* *****, financed through M&T Bank. This letter will clarify key points that were not addressed in M&T Bank’s recent correspondence, and it will add crucial details omitted in prior responses. Firstly, I visited M&T Bank’s branch and spoke with Michelle D*****, who acknowledged that similar issues have arisen with ******* ***** in the past. Michelle D***** expressed sincere apologies, noting that this was not an isolated incident and indicating that ******* ***** has had previous issues with misleading clients. This acknowledgment raised my concerns regarding the validity and reliability of the financing process facilitated by ******* ***** and M&T Bank. It is essential to note that the initial loan was closed and paid off because it was identified as fraudulent. This action of closing the loan and releasing the lien was taken solely due to the fraudulent nature of the transaction. Given this fact, any subsequent loans that were opened without my knowledge or authorization are not my responsibility, as they were part of a pattern of errors and misconduct. I possess a payoff letter and documents confirming the lien release for the VIN number associated with the trailer, which should have ended my obligation. Additionally, I entered into this agreement based on a manageable monthly payment of approximately $220, as I clearly communicated to ******* *****. However, the loan terms and monthly payments I received far exceed this amount, making the loan unaffordable. I believe that my income may have been overstated by ******* ***** to secure a loan approval that does not align with my financial capacity, as noted during my branch visit. Further investigation by Michelle D***** revealed that a third loan was opened in my name without my knowledge or authorization. This fact was omitted in M&T Bank’s response, raising serious concerns about transparency. Additionally, I was required to re-sign documents due to an alleged VIN error at a random gas station location, an unprofessional and unusual request. Another major concern is that I was asked to sign a blank Power of Attorney form, which I found to be highly unprofessional and potentially illegal. Signing a blank Power of Attorney form places my personal information and financial standing at risk and raises serious questions about the integrity of the process ******* ***** and M&T Bank followed. Additionally, M&T Bank claims the lien release was a simple mistake, but given the fraudulent nature of the initial loan and the subsequent errors, this explanation is unsatisfactory. A lien release is a significant document affecting ownership and financial responsibility, and this error points to a possible pattern of negligence rather than an isolated incident. It appears that both ******* ***** and M&T Bank may be attempting to cover up these mistakes to avoid accountability. These issues have caused significant distress and financial hardship, negatively impacting my credit score and overall financial stability. I respectfully request that ******* ***** and M&T Bank address these unresolved concerns transparently. I also seek an official explanation regarding how such errors occurred, including the fraudulent loan, the unprofessional practice of having customers sign blank Power of Attorney forms, and the legitimacy of subsequent loans opened without my consent. M&Ts dates are incorrect of opening and closure of loans as well.  Thank you for your attention to this matter.       Several weeks ago, I bought from **** coffee merchant for 3 identical orders. I got the packages. I was returning one package by one package back to merchant. The M&T debit card was used to buy so my refunds would come back online to my checking account with M&T. When I got my first refund set for $38.50 and $15, the refund was pending that night, but they both disappeared the next day, so I called the bank to ask what happened. My complaint has to do with the fact that the bank LIED TO ME ABOUT THE MERCHANT TAKING BACK THE REFUND. I WENT BACK TO THE MERCHANT AND WAS TOLD, THEY WOULD NEVER CANCEL ANYONE'S REFUND FOR ANY REASON, THAT ONCE IT'S REFUNDED, IT'S MINE, AND THE MERCHANT NEVER CANCELS THE CUSTOMER REFUNDS LIKE THAT. THE BANK LIED TO ME SEVERAL TIMES ON THE PHONE ABOUT THE MERCHANT PUTTING ME ON FRAUD REVIEW AND CANCELLING MY REFUNDS. I EVENTUALLY GOT ALL MY 3 REFUND SETS FROM THE MERCHANT TODAY. IT WAS THE BANK THAT WAS HOLDING BACK MY REFUNDS FOR DAYS ON END. I AM COMPLAINING ABOUT THE BANK DOING THIS ON PURPOSE TO HARASS ME AS THEIR LOYAL CUSTOMER. I EVEN SPOKE TO THE PHONE SUPERVISOR ABOUT THE MERCHANT CANCELLING MY REFUNDS, AND THE BANK SUPERVISOR TOLD ME IT'S THE MERCHANT DOING THAT, THAT I'D HAVE TO DEAL WITH THE MERCHANT, NOT THE BANK. IT TOOK ME A WHOLE WEEK TO GET MY MONEY BACK, AND AS I FOUND OUT GRADUALLY FROM THE MERCHANT, IT WAS INDEED THE BANK WHO LIED AND WITHHELD MY REFUNDS FOR SEVERAL DAYS ON END AND FINALLY RELEASED IT TO MY ACCOUNT. THE MERCHANT NEVER LIED TO ME. THE BANK LIED TO ME. I DO NOT APPRECIATE WHAT THE BANK DID TO MY REFUNDS. YOUR BANK SHOULD BE REPRIMANDED FOR THIS. THERE WAS NO REASON TO PUT MY ACCOUNT ON FRAUD REVIEW LIKE THIS AND LIE TO ME ON PURPOSE SAYING IT WAS THE MERCHANT, WHEN IT WAS THE BANK DOING IT. IF YOUR BANK DOESN'T TRUST ME, THEN I SHOULDN'T BE DOING ANY BUSINESS WITH YOUR BANK. LET ME KNOW. BECAUSE IF THIS HAPPENS AGAIN, I WILL NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH YOU AGAIN.       I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. I didn't get any calls from them on any day. Anyway, the merchant explicitly told me they processed the refunds on specific days, and the bank should have shown them as posted within 2 days as they always have in the past, but in this case, they withheld the funds for several more days until they couldn't handle the truth anymore so they let it out. There was no misunderstanding. The bank did this on purpose to discriminate. I don't appreciate it.

      I sold an RV that has a loan with M&T Bank. Buyer wired 20k directly to M&T to pay off the loan on 8/21/2024. On 8/23/24 I called M&T Bank to confirm payment cleared since I was no longer able to see loan online. Customer service rep confirmed loan was paid off and that account was closed. I asked if it was safe to give the RV to buyer now and she said yes and that lien release will be mailed within 10 days. I gave the RV to buyer on 8/24/24. On 8/30/24 I got a letter from M&T bank stating that they were unable to apply the $20k payment to loan account. The $20k payment went back to the buyers bank. The buyer was unaware of this but thankfully was honest to send the 20K to my personal bank. On 8/30/24 M&T supervisor said that it will take 3 days for loan to reopen. Called M&T on 9/4/24 to ask about loan reopenning and was told account was still closed and a request was placed to reopen by 9/6/2024. On 9/9/2024 called M&T again and was told by customer service lady that no request was placed to open account. I was transferred from supervisor to supervisor and they were able to see the request from 9/4/2024 and was told another request was placed 9/9/2024 and supervisor Todd was going to contact me either Tuesday or Wednesday with an update. That didn't happen. I called again today 9/13/2024 and was told once more that the account is still closed and that another request was placed for it to be reopened by the loans department and that I will get a phone call on next business day (I doubt it will happen). I have never experienced such lack of customer service and issue resolution from any other lending institution. This issue is causing me so much mental and physical stress. I just want the RV loan reopened so I can pay it off.
