      Hello,

      I used to have an account with MT Bank. In the past, I lost two of my checks and couldn't cash them. Yesterday. I received two separate letters from the Bank saying that

      ".....Dear ******* ******** On 08/03/2020, we issued a check (referenced above) made payable to you in the amount of ......... To date, our records indicate that this check has not been cashed. Under applicable law, any funds associated with a check issued to a resident of NEW JERSEY are considered "unclaimed property" if the check has not been cashed during the time specified by law. Since the check has not been cashed, we are required to submit the funds as unclaimed property to the State of NEW JERSEY. To prevent your funds from being submitted to the State of NEW JERSEY, please visit an M&T Bank branch or call us at ###-###-#### and we will re-issue the check."

      Since it was saying "please visit an M&T Bank branch" I went to MT Bank in Clifton, NJ (887 Allwood Rd, Clifton, NJ 07012).
      The teller who greeted me, looked at the letter and said they could not do anything. I said but the letter is saying "please visit an M&T Bank branch". She said she didn't understand why it said that. She even didn't bother asking anybody else, or call their headquarters to figure it out. She was a type of trying not to bother looking at the details and was not helpful at all.

      I am very upset and disappointed with what the letter says and what the teller at the bank said.

      When I opened my account I put in all information and it was approved. Then all of a sudden they said information was missing and the bank was double charging me. Then they closed my account.

      My bank account did not pay checks because my account Was blocked because of fraudulent attempts to my account. I have been charged late fees I.e as if bad check fees. I asked M and T Bank for a statement because the company would not charge me if I could get them to explain why my check was not paid, M and T Bank has refused to get me a statement.

      M&T Bank is a complete disgrace to the financial industry. I accidentally paid two payments in the month of June. I had my credit union review the issue and according to M&T Bank’s response, the payments received were posted accordingly. Two weeks later, I received an email from M&T Bank stating that my payment date was approaching, which by this point I’m confused being they denied the reversal of one of these payment's. After checking, I saw that a reversal had been made on the M&T app. I contacted them and the customer rep I spoke to at the time was somewhat helpful and said that she could see that the reversal was approved and I should see one of the payments posted back to our account within 5-7 business days. With it being the week of July 4th, I figured it would take 1-2 additional days to be deposited.

      Fast forward to a week and a half later and the payment has still not been deposited to my credit union. I contacted customer service this evening and Jose argued with me that my account is current and that it was my problem and I needed to contact my credit union. He began raising his voice at me disregarding anything I was trying to explain and said that the last person I spoke with gave me incorrect information. He didn’t take the time nor did he offer to review the payment reversal to see where the hang up might be. After continuously yelling and talking over me, I asked for his name and ID number, and told him I wanted to speak to his supervisor. He told me he would not give me his information but rather he would transfer me. Instead of giving me the information I requested, he continued to yell and talk over me.

      Clearly by the complaints on the BBB, this bank needs to be shut down. I will NEVER bank with them for anything nor will I recommend them to anyone. The fact that you cannot have decent customer service to help your members says A LOT about the bank you are. M&T bank is an absolute joke!

      This company claims i owe money for insurance premium of 233.16 when i never have asked them for any insurance coverage. This happened at beginning of june 2024. Also they want more money for premium with grace period of August 4 2024. This seems to happen while ********** said i had a car accident when i didnt.

      On Wednesday, July 3, I returned a call to a very rude representative of this bank from the Financial Crimes division. I was immediately alarmed and caught off guard as the representative identified only as Nina, began to make accusatory statements about an alleged check I allegedly deposited into my account. 'Ms ********, the check you deposited into your account who gave it to you, where did it come from, and what was it for?' 'Excuse me? What are you talking about as I have not deposited any check into my account as my account was in the negative of $100 so I have had no need to access my account. I know I had paid $20 towards the deficit for as I recall the total deficit was $119.41; and I believe I had until sometime in August to pay before the account would be closed.' 'So, you didn't deposit this check? Does anyone have access to your Debit Card? Did you not stay at a Motor Inn?' 'Ma'am, I am homeless and I was recently hospitalized due to suffering a fall re-injuring myself as I have Osteoarthritis.' Despite adamantly refuting her allegations, she continued to pepper me with questions about a check I had no knowledge of. Notwithstanding, Nina believed that I had purposely committed a crime which I adamantly deny. I was infuriated by her continued allegations and I was barely able to ask any immediate questions such as: What type of check is it? What's the name on the check? Does it have my signature on it? When asking about my signature, she stated: 'I never said you signed it.' Before I could make further inquiry, she informed me that the account was in the negative of $641; and that unfortunately my account was going to be closed. If I wanted to file a police report, I could do so; but, if I wanted to get another account, I would have to go somewhere else. I was livid; and not understanding why I was not provided the opportunity to properly discuss the matter nor do I know when the act took place nor why I am now only finding out about the incident.

      Hello. M&T put my account on hold for not reason. I deposit a check and the check bounce. So it doesnt make sense to put my account on hold for not reason. Just charge my account for the return fees. Now i cannot even use my card nothing and i have money sitting in my account that i cannot even use it. I dont recommend this bank to anyone

      Question: I received a credit card offer from M&T Bank and went ahead and applied. They approved my application, but now they are not allowing me to enroll online. They are asking me to visit a M&T bank location, which is approximately 10 miles away from my home. However, during the application and approval process, they never mentioned the requirement of visiting a physical location. Now they are claiming it's due to security issues. I strongly believe that this excuse is based on racial and religious bias and is a form of discrimination. If security was a concern, why did M&T send me an offer and approve my account without verifying my identity? This seems like a deliberate deception by the bank. They are now harassing me with security excuses, preventing me from checking my balance and transactions. This is completely unacceptable.

      Dear Better Business Bureau,I have carefully reviewed the response provided by the business regarding complaint ID ********, and I regret to inform you that their response does not provide a satisfactory resolution to my complaint. For your reference, I have provided a detailed account of the issues I encountered below.There are three main concerns that I would like to address:1) Firstly, I strongly believe that the bank engaged in fraudulent behavior by approving my account without properly verifying my background. The bank has not provided any documentation to clarify their actions and why they should not be considered fraudulent.2) Secondly, the bank has consistently emphasized the need for me to physically visit a location in order to enroll in online banking, citing security reasons. However, they did not follow the proper procedure for this requirement. I firmly believe that this insistence on in-person enrollment is a form of racial and religious discrimination against me, as the bank has not provided any valid reasons for such a demand when my account has already been approved. It is actions, not words, that truly reveal the bank's intentions.3) Lastly, during a phone conversation with Mr. S*****, he mentioned that instead of visiting a physical location, the bank could offer a Zoom meeting as an alternative. This clearly demonstrates that the requirement to visit a location is not truly justified on security grounds. It appears that Mr. S***** made up this alternative on the spot as a means to retaliate against my concerns.I hope that you can address these issues promptly and assist in reaching a satisfactory resolution. Yours sincerely,******* *****
