If I could give ZERO star for this bank I would. DO NOT EVER IN YOUR LIFE USE THIS BANK FOR MORTGAGE. NEVER, EVER, EVER. THE MOST STUPID PEOPLE EVER, NOT HELPFULL AT ALL, WILL TRY TO SCAM YOU FROM THE START. AUBREY N**** WILL MAKE SURE THAT YOUR PAPERWORK WILL GET LOST, HE WILL MAKE SURE THAT YOU WILL MISS ALL THE IMPORTANT DUE DATES. I HAD TO CALL ALL THE SUPERVISOR AND SUPERVISOR'S SUPERVISOR. ALL THE WAY TO THE TOP TO GET PAPERWORK DONE ON TIME. PLUS, THIS MR. N**** TWISTED THE NUMBERS TRYING TO TAKE MORE MONEY FROM ME (IM AN ACCOUNTANT I CAN COUNT) AND WHEN I BROT THIS UP HE SUDDENLY DISSAPEARED AND DID NOT ANSWWER ANY OF MY EMALS OR PHONE CALLS. BE EXTREMELY EXTREMELY CAUTIOUS WHEN DEALING WITH THIS BANK IN ANY WAY. AND IF YOU CAN, DO NOT, DO NOT, DO NOT USE THEM. GO WITH SOMEONE ELSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fraud was committed on my account. I’ve had it happen once before with ******** and they were great. M and T denied my claim immediately and didn’t even notify me or let me present evidence. With terrible interest rates all they have is customer service and they failed on that big time. I’ve been with them for over a decade and they didn’t do anything to help me and couldn’t have cared less.M&T Bank

Don’t let the one star fool you…ZERO stars!!! ZERO ZERO ZERO!!!! Maybe negative ONE!!! I was a very satisfied customer of People’s United Bank until M&T came into the picture and drove my banking experience into a ditch of confusion and frustration. They are the single worst bank I e ever had the displeasure of being stuck with….I USED to pay a lot of my bills thru ****** but now ****** won’t even acknowledge M&T as a viable checking account…the last time I was able to get any sort of payment thru I had to send a $1400 bill thru $100 at a time! And then when trying to just send money directly to my ****** account M&T held the money in “pending” for 8 days…I’ve never had this many problems with anything in 2022…I am going to a real bank like ********* or ********* Savings or…well that’s probly it since all the good banks are out of business so the real bottom of the barrel like Muck&Trouble can have room to come up and ruin the financial lives of people who just want to pay their bills without hassle…I know I’m only one person but if I could start a campaign for everyone to leave M&T I would do it in a heartbeat… go away M&T!!! You’re doing nothing but shortening the length of my life…blah!!M&T Bank

Literally the worst bank ever. I had People's and was switched over to M&T. I NEVER had an issue with People's after using them as my bank for 6 years. As soon we switched over I have had nothing but issues. My debit card is constantly turned off and I'm not able to use it because I've "reached the transaction limit". When I call they say I've made more than 20 transactions in 24 hours, who makes 20 transactions in 24 hours?! Currently my account says that 40 plus transaction have occured ON A DATE THAT HASN'T EVEN HAPPENED YET! Don't even give them a single chance worst bank in existence.M&T Bank

After experiencing and reporting a hardship I called and spoke to 6 different representatives being transferred from one place to another back to back and a supervisor. I reported id make my payment that is late and did not ever have auto draft set up. Well the payment posted and then Monday I find out my account was charged for that payment again by a CHECK that I did not authorize. I reported this the same day. Never gear anything back from them and when contacted about it they didn't mention what they would do to not let this happen again, they did not acknowledge i mentioned the fact a fraudulent charge was made that I clearly did not authorize. Its Friday and a holiday now and they still have not reversed my payment and im stuck with -400 and charges for my account being overdrafted while this company performs no action of resolving a FRADULUENT report. I will be reporting this to other entities and a lawyer now.M&T Bank

Absolutely horrible bank. Was a Peoples Bank customer for over 20 years and cannot believe they would sell to such an incompetent company. Been waiting 5 days for my payroll (direct deposit) to even show! Completely unethical to keep money from people! Will be switching banks tomorrow. Do not open with this bank!M&T Bank

On October 3, I went into M&T to have my name removed from an account. I was told that there was no one there that could do that for me, that "they were short staffed," and someone would call me. After a week went by and no one called from the bank, I called. I was told that I needed an appointment and they were not SCHEDULING any appointments until October 17. I called on October 17 and an appointment was made for November 2. I went in on November 2 and was told the person I was meeting with was not in. And no one called to let me know that? The teller was very polite but didn't have an answer for me; I told her that I wasn't upset with her. After the only other person in the bank finished her phone conversation, she came out and scheduled another appointment for November 9. I went in on November 9 and was told that the only way to remove my name from the account was to close that account and open another one. We are closing the account but certainly not opening another one with M&T!!!!! I"m also moving my personal accounts as well!!!!M&T Bank

In the last 2 years, M&T's competence has hit rock bottom. They should be named "FRUSTRATION" bank - and they don't give a **** either.
I know that banks have to defend against Fraud - However at the expense of doing business is unaceptable.
I go to buy a cell phone from ****** - order goes thru - they (M&T) decline the purchase and scream FRAUD - I call up, I said look it's me - let me buy this phone please... after 1 hour and 23 minutes of my life they say OK we'll let it go thru.
Next day I go to order the phone again - and again they decline the purchase! WTF - another hour and a half on the line with them and they can't tell me why they declined it.
I have a M&T **** Debit card that takes cash out of my account - not charging, and my accounts have over 300K in cash in them WTF - 3 hours of bull**** and I had to use my wifes ******** card to get my order to process.
THEN - wait get this THEN - I go into my account to pay one of my tenants their security deposit. They have ***** and I have ***** - this should be easy - log in pay 800 bucks to my tenant and... you Guessed it DECLINED - FRAUD alert!
WTF M&T - I am again on hold with your fraud department - 59 minutes and 33 seconds... and counting - I don't have the time to continue to do this.
I'm so FRUSTRATED -
Now the poor person who answers the call will no doubt be under qualified and not deserve my wrath - but this bank better fix it's **** or I'm pulling out.
At least hire a group to answer the phones in a timely manner! You owe me 1,000.00 for my time and 10k for pain and suffering! :(M&T Bank

1 starThis bank is shady, unethical, disorganized, and completely incompetent. Three months ago I accepted an offer on my house sale by a gentleman who is using this bank. Our original closing date was October 1st, they didn’t even order the appraisal to be completed until October 6th. It came back at 10k over my asking price and he was told that no repairs were needed because of that (it was an FHA Loan and the purchase agreement clearly states the property is being sold AS IS) They do not respond timely or at all to emails, and they do not offer updates. They buyer had to resubmit several forms several times to several different people because they apparently also do not communicate internally. We finally got a second closing date of October 28th but nobody would give us a name or address or time for the closing. On October 27th at the end of the day, we received an email that they were not ready to close and they did not explain why, but it turns out the buyer needed to submit more paperwork that he had submitted already but they couldn’t find it! On November 1st, 4 days after we were supposed to close and an entire month after they received the appraisal results they sent the buyer a huge list of repairs that needed to be completed before they could move forward. The list includes but is not limited to scraping and repainting the entire house and tearing down an old shed on the property. If these items were a determining factor in his eligibility they should have been sent a month ago when they received the appraisal and not 4 days AFTER we were supposed to close! I already moved hours away because they gave us a closing date. I am out of money, the buyer is out of money, I am double booked on my housing expenses and the buyer is effectively homeless. What a nightmare! I wouldn’t recommend this bank to my worst enemy.Review fromTimothy H

This bank is horrendous...besides charging overdraft fees 3-5 days after a charge that overdrafts, causing an absolute chaos of confusion and perpetual fees for somebody that doesn't have the money to maintain a 3 digit dollar balance...these demons also just DONATED MY SONS SAVINGS ACCOUNT TO THE STATE OF MD!!!
"Well, sir, we see you use your checking account every day but this attached savings account hasn't been used in awhile so we're going to give it away!"
