      Tried to send a ***** payment to my lawn guys today, like I have done weekly all summer. M&T flagged it as potential fraud and gave an 800 number to call to resolve. After waiting on hold for TWO HOURS, the representative gave me a different 800 to call in the future and proceeded to transfer me. I have now been on hold with this second call center for 15 minutes without talking to a human.

      The transition from Peoples bank is an on going nightmare, can't get to my business account!!!! I was on the phone for well over an hour THEY CUT ME OFF!!!! I will leave this not real bank soon as possible! M&T bank changed my Wife's address and my business address, I was on the phone for over 2 hours
      only to find out I need to change it back in person!! Where do I send my invoice for my time fixing your problem will be my question??

      Transition from Peoples Bank to M&T is awful. I'm unable to pay any bills online. I can't get through to anyone for help. No instructions on how to navigate this issue.

      M & T Bank is dishonest, lack of communication with management team, holding my payments on auto loan that have been paid for 72 months if the loan and now t not showing proof of 8/19/22 payment and threatening letters to reprocess my vehicle.

      This bank bought Peoples United Bank and had the benefit of the Labor Day Holiday Weekend to work out any tech issues prior to business on 9/6. Here it is 3:00 pm 9/7 and it is not possible to get in touch with the bank. They are non-responsive to messages sent through their site, I've been on hold for 1 hour 40 minutes and counting. They failed to deliver new debit cards to all customers but somehow made time to rebrand all the branches in my community. If you have never heard of this bank, it is with good reason as they are certainly the worst bank I've ever dealt with and have a long way to go to ever be competitive let alone see 5 stars

      Complaint
      This transition from my People’s Bank to this M&T Bank has been a totally unacceptable nightmare!! I tried to log on to their online banking platform at 8:30 am yesterday 5/6. I used the same username and password that my People’s online account had. I even wrote it down before the change over, as directed by M&T. I got my ATM/Debit card and that seemed to work fine over the Labor Day weekend. But when I tried to get my balances from my savings and checking accounts- it only allowed me to access my checking account. On Tuesday- after spending all morning trying to log onto the online mobile banking platform- I tried calling the help number. No human representative ever picked up- it was all computer menus that kept going in circles and got no where. Wait times got so bad that a new male voice came on immediately after calling the online help number saying that because they were overwhelmed- they couldn’t take anymore calls!!! Horrible customer service! So I ended up going to a branch in my town at 2pm in Enfield. Another total waste of time. I had to get in one line of over 15 people to deposit a check into my checking account. I asked for a print out of my accounts because I got an email saying someone had successfully changed my password!!!! I never changed my password with online banking because I still haven’t been able to to sign in!! After being in that line over 20 minutes- I had to get in a line for help with online banking sign in-total waste of time -another 30 minutes!!! The woman couldn’t do anything because she said the system was down - it crashed because it couldn’t handle the volume!! What does that say about the IT department of M&T bank??? I’m very concerned that while I’m unable to log into my online accounts - a breach is going to happen and my money will be taken by hackers. This bank had a major problem in December 2019 - with hackers/scammers! So today 9/7 -almost noon - and STILL I have not been able to access my accounts online

      M&T just merged with People's United Bank over the weekend. People's was a great bank. It re-opened yesterday as M&T and everything is messed up. They said by People's username and password would log into online, but it didn't. Their system does even have my username at all. I went to the bank in person, and they were not able to do anything. Yesterday I was on hold....FOR 6 HOURS....when by cellphone hung up the call. Then tried to call back and the computer told me they couldn't help me because too many people were waiting.
      I called again this morning and got the "We can't help you" message with no option to leave a message. Called again and I have now been on hold for 1 hour and 17 minutes. Honestly I expect a repeat of yesterday.
      I will probably be closing these accounts and finding another bank to do business with.

      My local bank merged with M&T many years ago and now I use M&T for both my personal and business banking unfortunately. I have had the absolute worst experience of my life in just trying to reset my password - and this because they have connection issues with ********** which I use for business. It is not difficult to do this and they are not competent and I have been put on hold for hours. It is absolutely unacceptable for a bank to respond in this way to any clients - personal or business. Needless to say - I will be switching my banking but I want to warn everyone else out there to stay away and go to another bank. Zero stars.

      If I could pick a negative # I would. After calling customer service, being put on hold for over an hr just to speak with someone who doesn't knw her job. N all she would do is tell me to keep trying. After that I tried call the branch, n after 45min on hold, I hung up. I tried again n now am locked out of my account. Again, i was told by the branch that i am required to come into branch for any help. I am still unable to access my account, all 10 of them. I shouldn't have do any of this. I am working through all this, when shld I invoice m&t for my time? We are looking at over 3hrs $120. If u didn't have ur s*** together u should have held off. Holding my accounts n $$ hostage makes me want to move all my business n my clients business to another bank.

      I received a check from M&T Bank part of a car wrapping advertisement. I called the M&T Bank for them to verify the check, I talked to a live person he put me on a three-way call me him and the automatic service to verify the check, I provided the account number and the number in the right hand corner of the check, the automatic service said the check was good the man on the line said Ms C***** did you hear that the check is good, so I went into my bank and deposited the check. Then someone text me and told me to **** *** $1,500 to a person named Patricia H***, when that didn't happen a guy called me and told me to go withdraw the 1500 out my bank, I text them back and told them that I wasn't doing anything until the check cleared. The check cleared M&T Bank release the money $2,250.25 into my account. My bank told me that I shouldn't send cash but to pay them with a check. That $2,250.25 set in my bank account for 3 days because I was not about to **** *** no one $1,500. The third day came, M&T Bank took that money back. My point is this, I called M&T bank, talked to a live person to verified the check, M&T Bank cleared the check and deposited the money in my account but when I didn't respond like they wanted me to through **** *** or withdraw the cash ($1,500) out of my account M&T took the money back. M&T Bank seem to be involved in the scam because I talked to a person and they verified the check and they deposit the money in my account.
