      Worst bank, they never should have bought People's united bank. I didn't receive my debit card and it took 3 times before I finally got it but not after losing auto payments and being "late" on payments at no fault of my own. If m&t would just stop trying to shade over their faulty transition with oh we want every customer satisfied, because if they truly did, this never would have happened. M&T has no business being a bank.

      AWFUL customer service. I still cannot Pay Bills online 10 days since the transition from Peoples, and I am following all the steps and am now deleting and re-adding all my payees, and the new payees are not able to be located in their system. My bills will now be late. I've sent numerous messages and 3 hours on the phone and still no help. This is unacceptable business practice. Maybe they should have done the transition in stages instead of everyone at once.

      Telephone support is terrible. Wait times over and hour, then the are unable to fix the problems. Still a long way from restoring what we had with peoples,.

      M & T customer service is disorganized and very unprofessional, they were to investigate ****** Airline to refund my ticket and
      M & T reverse the credit refund stating I had a no show with my flight with ****** Airlines when under investigation, Which I had already purchase another flight so I actually paid for two separate flights!! This took a duration of five months with calling them for a resolution. Their lack of communication and the investigation showed no interest in resolving properly.

      Simply the worst bank ever. The customer service phone numbers are all useless since no one ever answers the phone. It’s just horrible. You’ll end up having a stroke.

      I am a former People's United Customer.
      Despite months for the bank to prepare, this transition has been terrible at best.
      My first Personal account card was sent to an address I last lived at nearly 10 years ago.
      The second was never sent. The third is supposed to arrive tomorrow.
      I followed the steps laid out in multiple, multiple different, and confusing communications and managed to get access to two of four accounts. The business credit card was supposed to be attached as a second account under my business login and this has not happened yet.
      I was able to log in previously, several times. It appears that some kind of update rewrote or or deleted my password. Now I have no online access to my account, cannot process payments.
      Wait times are in excess of one hour on sparsely tended phone lines. Considering the egregiously poor transition, phone hours should be extended and more people should be put on customer service if M&T wants to retain customers. "Growth for its own sake is the ideology of a cancer cell", said ****** *****. M&T has proven this. This merger should not have been approved if M&T had no intention of making any effort to onboard People's customers properly. M&T's incompetence and neglect are forcing me to spend many hours trying to unscramble the hash they've made of things and are negatively impacting my business and personal life.
      Who is responsible? Some guy, we'll call him Al, in the back room, connecting the wrong wires? A junior VP, who took on too big a task? The transition team? The bank is too big to be responsive or responsible, and can act with impunity. M&T, please do not contact me if all you have are empty platitudes about knowing what matters, insincere apologies, or false promises to do better. BBB, I don't know how M&T maintains an A+ rating. I think you need to review what that means. I'd leave a no star review if possible.

      Customer service does not exist. Others I have talked to ask why I put up with M&T including other banks. They need to be updated. So difficult to deal with. Tried for 2 weeks to make a bank to bank transfer couldn’t get anyone to help. Everyone tells me how easy it is. Frustrating!
      Nobody cares.

      This bank took over People's United where I have many accounts and manage our personal and our accounts for our businesses. The the change over has been horrible. After a week I still do not have access to my business accounts nor do I have bill pay for our personal accounts. There is only a 1-800 number to call and to wait and wait. The staff from People's are all incredibly frustrated with the inability to help their regular customers. We went from feeling like we had a relationship with our bankers and their ability to help us to zero relationship and they don't have the resources they need to help. I am not at all impressed. I am seriously considering switching banks for all of my accounts and my loans today.

      Never received new bank card after People’s takeover. I went to a branch and was promised I’d have it by Friday. Never happened. I can’t access my account and need to pay bills and can’t do that. Seems like a complete institutional failure. I’m losing sleep over the stress involved. I’m sure they’ll give the same generic answer about valuing their customers blah blah blah. It’s getting old fast and it might be time to get a real bank

      On hold for Over 2 hours to get a stop pay placed on a Lost check. Still holding. We are out 500.00 because the Bill pay service already debited the account
