I contacted ***** ***** ***** and they stated that my account was sold to Debt Direct Portfolio Management, LLC.
Yesterday I received a message from from the secretary at my place of employment that a gentleman named ******* ******** called and said that we was going to come to my work on Friday with paperwork. He left a callback number. I called the phone number and the man who answered the phone said he didn't know anything about why someone would threaten to come to my place of employment.
Debt collectors cannot go to your workplace; under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), it is illegal for them to physically visit your place of employment to collect a debt, as this would be considered publicizing your debt to coworkers and is considered harassment.
Please cease this harassment. Do not contact my place of employment. Do not contact me at work and do not contact ANYONE but me.
I plan to file a formal complaint with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.Business Response

We have located your account with the information you have provided to the BBB in order to make your statement. There seems to be a misunderstanding. Your account was provided to us by the original issuer as you stated, however, Debt Direct Portfolio Management is not a collection agency, we do not take payments, nor do we contact consumers requesting for payment or anything else. We also do not have any one in our office by the name of ******* ********, which means your calls are not coming from our office. As you also mentioned, no one would be going to your place of employment to collect a payment either.
We have received your complaint submitted to our Support email, and received the BBB statement as well. You can continue to file another statement with the CFPB, however, the response will be the same as we are not a collection agency and do not contact consumers at all.
Furthermore, your account is internal in our office, meaning that you should not be receiving any calls in regard to this account at all, as it is not assigned to anyone within our network. Please ensure that calls are not for another debt or other outside matters.

When I contacted ***** ***** ***** two days ago, they said that they sold my account to you so to take the matter to with you. When I called the purported "******* ********", the person that answered stated that it was in reference to ***** ***** *****. Either you or ***** ***** ***** is not giving me accurate information which is very concerning as you both have access to my personal information. Also, information that I did not give anyone such as my biological father's phone number. I would have NEVER given that phone number to anyone!It is not another matter or debt.

Have been recently contacted about a debt, with the individual claiming that I am being charged with check fraud or theft of goods and services. I contacted the original lender, who directed me to this company, and did not bring up any information of legal action being taken. Have been calling Debt direct about this issue with zero response.
The individual whose name is Aaron D****** has also contacted my family members. Once again I have been trying to contact Debt Direct with zero response, only being met with “our agents our busy or we are currently closed” during standard business operating hours. I would

Debt Direct Portfolio *** *** **** sold an old debt of mine and I have been unable to contact them and have no communications I can find from them about this debt- I am now being contacted by “***” by a gentleman named David S****** (spelling?) who is telling me I will be served papers on regards to this debt. He says they’re a third party company so they don’t have any information like a website or phone numbers that come up on google and he also can’t give me any contact info for the whomever will be serving me. I was given a list of possible loan companies that could be tied to the loan. Something isn’t right and my debt is being sold to companies with bad practices.Business Response

I had found out that my debt was sold to them a month ago or so . Well now the have people calling me with all my personal info and calling my family friends and job. I have a past loan with ***** ***** loans. ***** ***** loans emailed me letting me know they sold the remainder of the loan to Debt Direct Management LLC. Since then I have received threatening calls. I got a call from ****** ******** ***** they called and left a voicemail stating their client had placed my file with them and they provided my last 4 of your social, and name and that a lawsuit would be filed on my name and social for fraud. When calling them back the phone rang a few times and didn’t respond after a couple minutes they called back stating they were Mr. S******** with the prenatal department of ****** ******** ***** and that they saw I called and this was no game and I need to contact him to get my side of the story and the last time I made a payment was 3/27/2024 since they stated this I looked more into it and they were referring to my ***** ***** loan that was sold to debt direct management. I have not received any contact from debt direct management or received proof that this company actually has my account. please close my account now. A investigation is necessary and all collection efforts should be indefinitely stopped and satisfied as this has been unlawful in so many ways.Business Response

Otherwise, documentation would be provided directly to the agency in charge of handling your account. Currently, the agency is named ****** ********* ********** *****, we do not work with anyone by the name of "****** ******** *****" nor do we work with the courts for account resolution. Received a call from Alan H****** saying they retained an account tied to my name and social security number and wanted me to call back. This Alan H****** person never stated where he was calling from in the voicemail that he left. He also went on to call my step son, my sister and my brother, leaving them voicemails saying I had a legal matter that needed taken care of. I called the number back and he wanted to set up payments. I got afraid and gave my debit card info to set up my first payment. I am really upset that he went and called my family members which is illegal. I cannot afford to make these payments that he’s asking.Business Response

I am not aware of this company nor their amount they say is due. I've not had any dealings with them and am unaware of this debt. I've to date not received one letter from them regarding origination if not to them directly. I was caught off guard by a call from another debt collector trying to recover this debt of which she could not provide any origination details either. I have a past loan with ***** ******(**). They sold the remainder of the loan to Debt Direct. ** emailed me letting me know this. Since then I have received threatening calls. In 4/2024 I received voicemails saying that I needed to return their call asap to confirm my correct adress to confirm I would be available to be "served paperwork I need to sign for" These VMs came from a unavailable ID and the person did not identify themselves or who the were calling from in the VMs. After calling them back, I was told that I had to call a attorney at a spefic phone number and that they did not have any of my info. They said they are only the people that serve the paperwork. Upon returning the call to the attorney, he told me all my loan details and that his client was requesting payment. I told him I needed to verify this information. I was not able to verify any of his information as Direct Direct does not answer and ***** ****** only redirects to debt direct since it was sold. I ignored this after not beinng able to verify anything and fear of a scam. I recieved a few more calls with VMs like this but disregarded. Time has now passed and someone from saying they are from***** ******* ********* calling from ###-###-#### in regards to a pre~litigation case that is being filed with the sate of California against myself. The VM states this;" Hi this is a message is intended for (my full name)this is ***** ******* calling from ************ ********* regarding your pre-litigated case for case number ******** I have an allocated 48 hour hold to have either you or your legal representative respond to avoid further proceedings with the state of California I can be reached at ###-###-#### extension is 124. They have called my family memebers as well with this same VM and details. I called them back they claim to represent ***** ****** on behalf of debt direct. I am unable to verify them also. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.I have since been able to review the email and al settlement offered they sent in regards to resolving the account sent the same day I complained. It is attached. It is a now a different name than the caller in the VM that addresses the email and settlement letter. This was a request I made from them in attempt to verify validity of the company and debt. This specific business cannot be verified as they represent. There is a company with this name, however, this is not their contact information, address, or services provided. Much of this email looks cut and pasted. This is not okay to be harrassed and intimidated by multiple collections companys posing as someone they are not to intimadate people to collect onnyour behalf. The resolution is not satisfactory. A investigation is necessary and all collection efforts should be indefinitely stopped as this has been unlawful in so many ways. As well as disparaging to my character by calling family members.

Was contacted (and family members contacted) by a Northwestern Mediation Services threatening legal action against me. I contacted them and they had info regarding a loan that I still had payments outstanding on, which had been sold to Debt Direct Portfolio Management. I have been trying to reach someone at the original loan company for several weeks to find out who was now servicing my loan, and set up payments, but they only told me that the account was no longer with them. I finally had someone at the original loan provider (LoanMe), confirm that Debt Direct Portfolio Management bought my loan. I called them to resolve this issue and cannot get a hold of anyone. Only a voicemail to leave my contact info. Trying to resolve this matter with no luck. More than happy to resolve this in a civil matter, but not with threatening and harrassing calls to family members.Business Response
