American express is unreliable, when I went to make a purchase, they offered me 20k in a credit limit and then as soon as I was making the purchase I was planning for they reduced my credit limit to 2k. It's there loss cause I have other credit but how unprofessional and unreliable american expresses was for me. I would not recommend this card.

I am going to be cancelling my 2 credit cards I have with them . I had a claim of an item that I purchased and returned and never got my money back. Although I provided everything necessary they sided with the seller who scammed me . I have been a loyal customer for years and now have lost hope and going to have to go to small claims court to resolve this .

I've been having many bad luck with many financial institutions recently and it's started to make me appreciate what American Express has to offer. I've had to dispute 4 separate charges on my new **** card, and each time the process was simple, easy, and seamless. Customer service listened to me intently, took genuine care in answering my questions, concisely informed me they were unable to give me information they did not have. By far the best customer service I've experienced in the past year.

This is the absolute WORST company and customer service EVER!!!!! Spent an hour on the phone and was told 6 weeks ago that my address and information was verified and confirmed and should receive a card in 10 days, 6 weeks go by and still no card. Call again to be told my information is still not verified and its going to be another ***** business days for a card and if I want expedited shipping its $25. Been on the phone for **************************************************************************** Now Im being told theres technical difficulties and they cant send the card. I will be complaining to the fuel reward company that uses serve because this is ridiculous! Total and complete incompetence and lack of any customer service! They ********************** no stars!

I have been a member with American Express for 18 years, and charge on our business cards over $100,000 per year. During 2024 we have noted a major change in how / or how not **** does the processing of payments. We receive their billing normally on the 18th. of the month with a payment due date of the 1st. of the following month. Payment is sent by check in the mail with in 2 days. Almost each month of 2024 **** is sending us out payment due notices saying they have not received payment. Most recent month payment was mailed from the post office on the 19th of the month. As of the 30th. of the month they have yet to post payment. When speaking to **** they respond we cannot control the mail and want me to make payment online - sounds like a cut back of personnel in their ****************************** American Express used to have a ***** period of days if the payment was received post due date - this has been repealed. My contention is that **** is using the delaying of posting payments to charge fees plus interest charges which I have been hit with in 2024, but not an issue in the previous 17 years. Their suggest today was go ahead and pay us online; and when questioned on what about the checks sent, they said they would post those against my account and then we would have a credit toward the next billing...or said another way we will hold your $8,000.00 in our bank for the next 30 days and not pay you any interest on the monies.***** ****** American Express Member for 18 Years.

As a consumer I received a $50 American Express reward card which I've had issues using my last .25 on the card. Have called in numerous times since April 2024, however today my calls to them were unprofessional and unacceptable as first representative I spoke with for 20 minutes rudely hung up. Called back in, spoke to a supervisor and they did same thing. Therefore, in my opinion American Express customer service representatives are the worst at providing any kind of customer service to end card users. Thus, companies offering any kind of American Express cards to consumers for any reason should think twice and go with a different company because I've called into American Express these last 7 months and customer service hasn't improved at all during that time, but in fact it has decreased downwards to getting hung up twice on back to back calls to solve the issue and get direct answers to my questions. No way is this acceptable and anyone who utilizes this company should be aware that you can get better service utilizing a different card provider.

Can't give a low enough score. **** is holding 20-year card holder responsible for nearly $500 fraudulent taxi ride in ******. The ride should have been $25-$45 but driver kept saying card reader not working so gave him cash. Amex *** called at airport to say noticed suspicious activity. I explained and he said we'll take care of you. We have your back. Next thing I know when it post they and I dispute the charge, Amex accepted an "X" as a signature. I have a master's degree, a journalist and never have used an X for anything. Now **** is holding me responsible and want a receipt. tell me, how do I have a receipt for a fraudulent charge??? Do they give receipts for that now. I can never trust **** and advise others not to as well. I was ripped off twice. by the taxi and by American Express. Beware of this company

I closed my account with this ********************** a year ago. A year later my account was reported to the credit bureau for delinquent charges. This severely hurt my credit score. The best part is I have repeatedly called since closing my account because this ********************** kept saying I had unpaid charges. I paid them at the time of cancellation and again later, when calling today they reviewed this and said they have no idea why I have late fees on my account. It will take another month for this issue to hopefully get resolved. No calls, emails, or mail letting me know about late charges, that by the way 100% of them were waived even thought they reported my account.

American Express offered military benefits when opening a platinum card of certain APR's and waiving of the annual fee of $700. Instead of waiving the annual fee it was the first thing I was charged before even using the card. When requesting the military benefits, I was rejected even while I surpassed the minimum requirement of active duty time posted on their website. I called to rectify the situation and was told that they couldn't do anything and I would have to continue paying annual fees because I didn't meet the criteria. "Could you tell me what the criteria is?""I don't have that at my level.""Can you transfer me to someone that has the criteria?""We don't give it out, they just know it". When I shortly realized that conversation wasn't going anywhere I followed up with, "I would like to close this account"I was then transferred to someone higher up trying to convince me to stay and take advantage of all the platinum benefits. To which I replied, thank you but I would like to close the account all together avoid you charging me another annual fee. 20 minutes spent of her trying to convince me to stay and then as soon as she gave up it took all of 30 seconds to close out my account. So short that as she's speaking I'm converting current points to money towards my last balance to pay, and then **** she's done. I asked to make sure about the outstanding balance because I don't want my credit to be affected or to have a balance get inflated over time, and quite frankly I want nothing more to do with the company at this point. As I ask to verify the point conversion she says, no those can no longer be used because your account has been closed. All in all, this company lied about the perks to get me to open an account, could not rectify, and then took the last few points I would have used towards my last bill and made them disappear. I HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND USING AMERICAN EXPRESS. Also, if you're going to claim to help military/veterans, then do it.
