they ****, I bought a prepaid gift card someone fraudulently used it to by merchandise at Coachs store for ******* They are trying to tell me that I owe them this money. Because they have records. I have personally contacted Coach and they have no records of any merchandise with the transactions that Amex provided. They (the personal that I have talked to) refuse to listen to anything I had to say and will not unblock my card. I don't buy from Coach in ************* to expensive when I live 5 to 6 hours away in **********. I think it is pretty bad business when they won't unblock the card and keep my money when I can use it for my family. If I have to choose a star it would be a MINUS 10

I would give American Express ZERO stars if I could! I signed up for the American Express Blue Cash Everyday credit card because they were running a promotion, if you spend a certain amount on the credit card within 3 months, you will receive a $200 bonus. Well, I fulfilled the requirements of the promotional offer and received the $200 bonus which appeared as a credit on my account. However, I cancelled my account 2 weeks ago since I no longer use that credit card anymore and after cancelling my account I get an email from American Express telling me that they charged the $200 bonus back onto my account because I didn't keep my account open for 1 year. The customer service agent that I chatted online with that closed my account NEVER disclosed this to me. He never once told me that any bonus that was credited to my account would be taken away because I was cancelling my account before one whole year had elapsed from the time I opened the account. Either I didn't see that part written in small print in the bonus terms and conditions or I forgot about it since I opened my account months ago. Terrible customer service! Of course the agent didn't mention that the $200 bonus would be taken away from me because REALLY American Express does NOT want to reward their customers that use their services. They could care less if I made my credit card payments on time and have been a loyal customer of theirs for quite a few years. Good job, American Express. You just missed out on potentially thousands of dollars of business from me over a measly $200 because I will NEVER EVER open another American Express credit card account again after this!

TERRIBLE! Never do business with Amex. I had two prior cards with Amex with a combined balance total of approximately $800. I applied for a Amex Hilton card for the points. I spent $3,000 within the first two months, and guess what...no points. No reasoning was given upon applying or being approved of the card. Once I realized I didn't receive the points, I chatted with an agent who said that I've already received rewards on my other card(s) so they can't give me rewards on this card. What?! I have never heard of this in my life. I would have had my husband apply if that were the case. So upset over this experience. Save yourself the time and aggravation. Use *****.

Absolutely abhorrent customer service. Zero care given to their customers in regards to checking, security of debit cards and overall customer safety while banking. Beyond this, their website and app are beyond atrocious and constantly littered with bugs. Never againdont sign up for any kind of account with them.

I bought a $200 American Express gold gift card and paid the activation fee. The card was never activated and when I contacted customer service and told them that the card was not activated I was told that there was a problem with the card. I filed a claim with customer service to be refunded for the purchase of the card and was sent a form to complete. I completed the form and provided the necessary documentation. That was in November 2022; it is now February 2023, and I haven't heard anything or received a refund. American Express is a SCAM and should be sued. I don't see how they have a good BBB rating.

My original review was on 12/16/20 on ***************************************************************** then I updated on 1/12/23 when we finally resolved my friends problem. As I stated on 1/12/23 she had about $12,000.00 worth of cards. I see that there are still a lot of people complaining about the gift cards even though *********************** ***** dot ****** at **** *** *** the *** of American Express told me that this problem with fraud had been resolved. I also called the number on the back of these cards to see if they were treating customers differently and saw that they ae still not helping. make sure you send emails to the *** ***** dot ****** at **** *** ***, it seems that that's the only way you get it resolved. You can try to get the emails for ********************* (AMEX Exec. Assistant) l dot **** at *************** *** *************** *** ***, *************** from **********, **** ** ****** *** ***, this is the company that issues the cards.

Reading the reviews and what happened to me, I believe that American Express is automatically closing accounts with balances and then selling off the debt to collections agencys WHILE trying to collect from the individual who owned that account. They are trying to better their financial standing taking it out on the customer. I really wish somebody would look into this. Too many people are getting hurt. Somebody please help.

I have been charging on the card for years, paying the full amount every time. I noticed we had $32 in rewards, and when I tried to check them it said this page is unavailable for certain members on this account!! Because I am only the wife, I am not allowed to see rewards page!! My husband never used the account at all - this year s just utterly ridiculous!!

I have a gift card from my job and I'm having trouble using it and I called the customer service department and was on hold for hours. Called different number and got the run around. Had a $25 gift card and never used it I tired to make a purchase on Amazon and got declined. Called American Express several times and got no where . Frustrated after this I hope I never have to deal with them again

I am disappointed with everything dealing with American Express. I was recently told I needed to utilize my card or it would be closed out. I guess I used it too aggressively because I am being threatened with my account being closed or pay $1110.00 for the first payment. I only have about a $4000.00 balance. I have a card that is $23000 and a card that's $14000. I pay my bills and other than that I don't see why it was necessary to run my credit (hard/soft) hit over a funky $4000.00. We are doing upgrades and preparing for vacation. But thank you Amex, I realized in this whole ordeal my interest rate with you is the highest sooooo, you've made the decision for me. I shredded the card and will be paying it off to never use again. By the time you close out my account in the future my 780 credit score will be restored. I also purchased 3 Acura's in the past 2.5 years totaling approximately $200,000. So there are many factors as to why my score recently dropped and none are because my payment history. Goodbye and good riddance!!!
