      I have been a member for 9 years, never missed a payment. The last few months I have been making the minimum payments until I sell my house, which will be sold at the end of this month. They lowered my available credit without telling me, so when I made a large payment on my card to buy a computer to continue my education, there was no availability to buy the computer. I called them and they said it would take weeks to even try and return my availability, and there is no guarantee that they will. Luckily, they are returning my payment for the computer, but the wire transfer will take up to 72 hours and they informed me my bank might also charge me. So not only do I have to wait, I might also have to pay for this mess to be fixed. Once my house is sold, I am going to pay off the card and close my account. I cannot believe this is how they treat their valued customers after nine years of dedication. Will never have an American Express card again!!! Hope this helps others to not make the same mistake I have with them.

      Ive been working on my credit for a while, no missed payments at all pay extra often and my credit was on a good route, AX gave me a cc with a 6k limit. Not even half a year I used about half the credit, then they drop my limit of 6k to *****, which increase my balance from about 30-40% to ***** and my score took a nasty hit of 12 points. Dropping my credit score. Making it harder for me , then they raise it back to the 6 k but I only get 2 points back. Once I pay it off I will be cancelling this card. IF YOU CARRY DEBT AND MAKE MONTHLY PAYMENTS INSTEAD OF PAYING OFF ALL AT ONCE DO NOT GET THIS CARD HO YO ***** FARGO OR *************** H*** EVEN *********** THEY ALL TREAT THEIR CUSTOMERS IN HOOD STANDING. ********************************************* IS GARBAGE FOR THE AVERAGE CONSUMER.

      The most aweful experience recently Recently suspended all my accounts in the name of account review I have been a perfect customer Then for the account review they made me run in circles and do this and that and that and this. Drove me around in so many circles that it drove me crazy Then they went and charged me 505$ interest charge on where their system messed up on autopay. I feel robbed

      Terrible I've been a long standing member of American express and they keep charging me $86 a month for minimum payments. I can't pay that! I told them over & over again! THEY CANCELLED MY CARD!!! I was only $100 over my limit!! I accrued a lot of points with them! So unfair! I hate them!

      Amex will shrink your limit when you need it most and then treat you badly. Don't fall for this they always find a way to s**** you.

      I applied for an American Express Gold card in 2023 but canceled the same day as my partner had the same card, I applied for the Reserve card in 2024 but after consideration of the annual fee I downgraded to the Platinum but then I was told I did not qualify for the welcome bonus, I was advised by a Manager that if I were to receive the welcome bonus I would have to cancel the Platinum card and reapply for a whole new card, However, I didnt reapply at the time as I didnt want another inquiry on my credit report, so I waited until 2025 an Re-applied for an American Express Gold card that had a ****** miles welcome bonus , when I called to confirm I was told I was not eligible, bear in mind that I never received any bonus miles at any point from American Express, I was told by another manager that they will not give me the welcome bonus as other people are misusing it, This was such a Prejudiced statement coming from a company who claims not to discriminate against anyone. If there was a 0 star I would have given this company I surely would have. How can you treat customers with such discrimination and disrespect!!!!

      Do not recommend. Do yourself a favor and go with a different bank. All payments made on time, not even close to my limit and they lowered my limit maxing out the card and lowering my credit score by 100 points. 72 hours from the email stating this was going to happen to it taking place. Theyre horrible.

      I'm not sure how this company determines credit limits, but I was only approved for a $1,000 credit limit after applying for the Amex Blue Cash Everyday card. This feels like a serious misjudgment, considering my strong credit profileI have a 750 FICO score and a solid salary. Meanwhile, my brother-in-law, who has a worse credit profile, was approved for a $6,000 limit. This inconsistency is frustrating, and I definitely wouldnt recommend this company. If you're looking for fair and reasonable credit limits, you might want to explore other options.

      I made a hotel reservation thru American Express Travel site expecting that they are recommending the ************** in *****, *******. I paid for it at the hotel and then American Express charged me a cancellation fee of $2,000. We never cancelled the hotel so American Express made the mistake. They need to figure it out with the hotel. I have worked on this every month for 6 months and they are not refunding me their error! Doesn't American Express guarantee their mistakes????? The frustration level of spending countless hours retelling the situation every time I call is disgrace! You have to explain it to a low level representative for at least 30 minutes each time and then they say a supervisor will call back hours later (if they call at all) and you have to start all over. Why can't you just get connected to a supervisor???? It is a different person each time.Their customer service is a joke! I have called every month for the past 6 months and they say I have to work it out with the hotel that they recommend on THEIR TRAVEL WEBSITE! A hotel that won't answer phone calls or emails.
