We filed a claim mid October for my husband who has a broken back and herniated discs. He was put on restrictions not to lift twist or bend until he sees a surgeon. He has an appt but in the meantime he cannot work. We filed everything and it has been nothing but a nightmare. They will not contact you if they need something. You MAY get a letter if youre lucky. After weeks of silence, we had called and were told they were stuck because they didnt have our doctors fax number. Why hadnt anyone asked for it?! If they do not approve his claim before they close it (December 27th) we are seeking legal advice. We have done everything theyve asked.

I shouldnt even be giving a star at all. This company is crap! You can never get anyone in the phone that knows anything. MetLife put my claim status at denied and said that I was not covered by my employer, which is in fact a lie, emails from my hr department have been sent showing my coverage. This company only wants to take money and give all claims a denial status. This is by far the worst company!

Never talk to what seems to be in the *************. Didn't know I had a policy until my Father passed away now they are saying my policy has lapsed and the policy is over 34 years old that I knew nothing about.Taking my business to a reputable Life Insurance company so I know my son doesn't have to jump through hoops when I pass away.

I was taken to the hospital ER in early September 2024 with abdominal pain. I was admitted and had emergency surgery on my abdomen during the a week I was there. I filed a claim soon after discharge. So far I have had to call many times to talk to customer service agents who supposedly try to send emails to the claims department on my behalf, to correct information they put into their system. I have had to submit information more than once by email. I am told that I am not allowed to actually talk to anyone in the claims department who is directly responsible for my claim. I am only receiving letters by mail, even though I asked for the email option. Every phone encounter of submission of medical documents means another 7-10 days for the claims department to review. So far it has been nearly 2 months of dealing with Metlife for a hospital indemnity claim involving a 7 day stay with abdominal *************, I received letters from them outright denying my claim. Their reasons state that a knee problem is not covered and the hospital does not actually admit people for inpatient care. It does not even mention that I was admitted for abdominal symptoms with a 7 days stay and abdominal surgery. Also, I looked in my account on their website, and they have removed my claim as if it was never filed.I think Metlife just does not want to pay the hospital indemnity claim and are making it look as if there is no record on the customer account that the . I will be following up and filing with what regulating agencies will need to see the documents.

TERRIBLE! They take 3 months to review a claim and there is NO ONE to speak with to get to the bottom of what is going on and what they need. I feel like they do not want to pay out EVEN THOUGH I pay my monthly premium ON TIME; THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT THE MEMBERS!!!

I'm not sure how MetLife is even in business anymore. I've been out of work since 9/26 for maternity leave. My claim was approved months before I even went out of work, only for them to deny it after the birth of my son. I have jumped through hoops for them. Going back to my Drs for new paperwork, for them to change my paperwork, only for it to be unaccepted anyway. They than denied my claim on 10/30 after telling me the only thing they needed was updated paperwork from my *** MetLife than changed their reasoning stating my employer has a clause stating that I needed to be actively working at he time of giving birth for it to be covered. I had reached out to my HR department and union *** just to find out that we do not have that clause in our contract and nobody, including corporate, has ever heard that. I was told they would review the recorded phone call and MetLife would be getting back to me. It has been a week and I still have not heard back. My claim specialist has never spoken to me on the phone she always has someone else call me. I'm on the verge of losing everything including my home because nobody apparently is trained to do their job. I've never felt so drained by other human beings in my life and I have 5 kids. I'm really considering hiring an attorney especially after being denied for total ****, after being approved for months. I guess they don't mind what they put others through because at the end of the day they are getting paid, and it's not their own livelihood they are taking away. Karma always comes back around though.

They refuse to contact me when requesting information on a claim any way other than through the mail despite the fact I am set up for both email and telephone contact. The customer service just make excuses for all the issues and keeps saying that every time they do anything that it reset their 7-10 day deadline. Its a big joke with them.

MetLife sent a letter to my Son stating that I had died and he should file a claim. Their information was based on a social security index and it was my Fathers date of death 13 years ago. They did no further research and suspended my policy! 4 phone calls later, I am not at all confident they have it corrected. I received a letter that I was late on a payment and I have direct draft. When I called, I was told that direct draft was stopped because the policy was suspended. Again I explained everything to the agent and again was told everything was fixed. I have had a life insurance policy with MetLife since the 90s and have given them a lot of money! I am not confident my Son will get the money when I pass. The customer service agents do not seem to know what they are doing. Shop somewhere else for insurance!
