****, my claim manager for my STD request has been very rude and unsupportive during my entire process. I decided to take leave from my job, and his insufficient customer service i believe is the reason why my claim has yet to be approved. I have been out of work since 4/3/23 with an expected return 6/3/23 and my claim is STILL under review. Today is 5/26/23. I was told today by **** that he needs more information from my therapist, however did not request said additional information. I took STD/FMLA to help relieve stress that I was dealing in my professional and personal life, and this experience has actually added to my stress and anxiety. This experience has truly been terrible and I believe customers deserve better treatment from services that we are paying for. If I could give zero stars I would.

We regret the poor experience that Mr. Turner has had with us. Our Senior Claim Manager, Frank, called and spoke to Mr. Turner today, 5/31/23, to try and address his concerns. At his request, we are in the process of reassigning his claim to another claim manager. Frank also provided Mr. Turner with the current status of his claim. As soon as a decision has been reached he will be notified.

I have been trying for over a month to surrender a life insurance policy my mother made for me when I was a child. It has been one stupid thing after another so far. First they enter in my name spelled wrong when they made my account. So I am unable to sign in to my account and upload my paperwork. Then, because they hadn't sent me my paperwork with my full account number, and they are unwilling to give it to me over the phone, I first faxed in my paperwork with just the last three digits of my paperwork. I was told by one of their employees over the phone that that would be enough. Was it? Of course not. Did they choose to communicate this with me after it happened? Of course not. I have to find out a full week later when I check on its status. So I fax in the paperwork. Just about two weeks later I call to check on ITS status. After being put on hold for several minutes, all they can tell me is that it has been received. Then they cheerfully tell me the process has begun and that I'll have my money in two to three weeks. WHERE HAS THE REQUEST BEEN FOR THE LAST TWO WEEKS? I'm not surrendering this policy because I'm doing well financially, you know. They claimed that they would accelerate the process, but frankly I don't believe them. I've had to hold their hand throughout this whole process like they were four years old. Why should anything change now? ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE.

Dear ***/*****: Thank you for your correspondence dated May 23, 2023, to Corporate Vice ********** ******************* concerning *****************************. This communication has been referred to me for review and response. Thank you for your patience while this matter was reviewed. The typical cancellation process takes 2 to 3 weeks. *******, the situs state of Mr. ********** contract, permits up to six months to comply with the request. In this case, we received the customers request on May 5, 2023, and the cancellation was completed on May 22, 2023. Upon review, we find that ********************** contacted our customer service center on two occasions and received conflicting information regarding the cancellation requirements. We have apologized to our customer for any confusion and the additional effort caused by this experience. We hope this information is helpful. If you have additional questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to us at the number ************ or by email. We are pleased to be of service to you. Sincerely,

If I could give them zero stars I would. Filed for short term disability o. 3.16.2023. Was filed with the wrong company and closed with out telling me. When I called to follow up, that's when the mistake was discovered. So refiled, then followed up on that, it was delayed because they closed my first application and didn't have a new medical release of information. When I called to follow up, was told they had everything they needed. Called to follow up because claim with still under review, was told my employer had not completed a form, that I was previously told they had. So. Called to follow up that ** employer had filled out the form and was told I have a pre-existing condition, this is now 2 months into the claim process and I am not working, not getting a paycheck. This is a horrible, terrible, careless, impersonal trash can of a company that easily takes your money for premiums but does not care if you ever actually need help. Every employee there should be ashamed that they work for this company. You are better off going with out pay than to ever deal with this s*** show of a "company" . 2 months of stress to find out they won't pay anyways.

**************** is HORRIBLE !! I leave messages EVERYDAY for a simple yes or no ,claims manager doesn't call back! I'm about to get kicked out of my home because I have no money. Says on their website they have empathy and you get a fast answer and the managers stay in touch with you ....this is a false representation of this company!! I was approved last year for my **** only after I went back to work because I needed money. I ended up going back out 4 months later. I need a 3 level spinal fusion. I have RA, and a whole bunch of things. My main Dr .has sent in everything. I have downloaded documents myself. Anything to help. 2 months waiting for a *** decision is ridiculous. I have no health insurance due to losing my position after my STD ended. There is NO empathy .At least return phone calls. Not professional. I will get an attorney soon if I have to. I paid extra out of my pay for this benefit and I need it now! This has caused my depression to get worse. I wish my company chose a different insurance company. One that is there for you cause you need it. I am looking at being homeless along with my daughter and grandson. To keep people in limbo for so long is just so disheartening.

I recently had a baby March 31st, 2023. My claim was approved for 6 weeks but due to employer policy. There is a 14 day waiting period you have to use PTO to cover those days. For that reason and because it was vaginal delivery NYLife only pays 4 weeks.. i am on 5th week of my maternity leave.. and even tho my claim was approved. The payment for my leave has not been received. I have called multiple times and every time the automated machine says the manager is out of the office press 0 to be connected to someone else. Everyone has told me a different thing. The pay out comes Monday or Friday.. we will place a request for you to get a call back.. i have yet to get a call back.. I am not understanding the issue here. Do we just have a negligent manager assigned to my case? Was i forgotten in the shuffle of things? I know at times people can get busy with claims and such. But its been 5 weeks. I am behind on payments because of their carelessness. And i am expected to wait 24hrs for a call back over a issue caused by them? Do I need to get a lawyer at this point?

We regret the issue ************** has been having. We can confirm that our Senior Claim Manager called ************** 5/8, leaving message confirming that payment had been made. ************** called back in and spoke to member of our staff that confirmed this to her verbally. Our claim manager then called ************** back 5/9, leaving message advising to call if she had not received the payment.

same thing happened to me basically and when they sent me to there doctor was never notified by them just received a certified letter, notifying me of my appointment, but not who made it or anything like that I thought it was Social Security. And even after their doctor stated that I cannot do things they still closed my case I have hired an attorney.

Terrible! Absolutely unacceptable. After filing the initial claim for short-term disability, their website no longer allows me to upload documentation. The doctor has faxed them the documents they require and they say they do not have them. They gave me an email address that I've been emailing the documents to and they say they've only received two of the 10 that I sent! The whole purpose here is to keep you from complying with the requirements in order to avoid paying you. The people you talk to on the phone are quite friendly and helpful, but they don't know anything. The website was completely down over the weekend and now that it's back up I still cannot upload any documents. I'm going to be filing a report with ********** attorney. Other tactics are only intended to make it as difficult as possible to comply with their demands. I'll be contacting me insurance regulators for the ***************** and filing a complaint again!

Terrible disabilty insurance. I have spen hours on the phone with them. at first there was a 7 week delay in getting payment. by the time they paid me it was time for a doctor's form and notes, so I didn't get paid for another week. I asked the claim manager several times on a recorded line, if I went back to work below 15 hours a week would they pay the difference in hours at 60%? she said yes, that my company would pay me at 100% for hours worked and NY life would pay the difference in hours up to 32 at 60%. Now they are having my supervisor report hours worked but not paying me. I have been calling since April 4th. Fin ally got an ach deposit last Friday and one today and a withdrawl from my bank account for same amount. Since February 26th, there were no doctors notes and no other request, my time wasn't recorded in my file and no letters. Too many phone calls to count and now my claim is paused again until they receive doctor's notes from April 21st visit. So once again I will not be paid in a timely manner. I had a stroke and have to keep my blood pressure down, and they are the biggest threat to myhaving another stroke. I'm ready to call an attorney. Their employees are incompetent.
