Have disability insurance with New York Life, got cancer, received 3 disability checks then they stopped. When I called, they told me that t was my doctor's fault the payments had stopped because he did not return a form that they had faxed to him. I called my doctor and was told he filled in the form and faxed it back to NYL 3 weeks ago. Called *** again and this time they told me he faxed the form back and now they are waiting for office visit notes. I offered to hold while they called him back and was told that it was a diffewrent office that would call him, so I wrote down what they needed and called my doctor and left a message. Not sure why, with all the stress related to my condition, that I am the one who has to take care of this.I have bills to pay regardless of my cancer and really needed the disability. Come on New York Life, step up and do your job.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We regret that the customer had a poor experience with our **********************. We understand her frustration and hope he can understand it is our goal to administer the policy according to its terms. The policy requires that receive proof that the customer continues to be Disabled according to the policy terms. In this case, we requested records from the treatment provider on 3 occasions without receiving the office notes. On 4/2/25, we received the updated medical documentation, which is currently under review. Should the customer have any questions, they may contact their Claim Manager, ****, for further assistance.

First time Ive ever been on short-term disability and it is through my company who happens to work with New York Life. They accept your claim but then dribble the money out to you, which is ridiculous! Awful company and I think its a game they play!!! When a person is out from a surgery they should be able to rest and focus on healing not whether they can pay their bills or not!

This organization has been less than useless to me during during my ****. The online forms were difficult to navigate. When I did reach out for help with these forms I was told that if I could read I wouldn't need to be calling them for help (I am an RN). When I thought, ok I've got it, I would receive letters telling me my information was incomplete (banking, additional info about my approved ****, etc. In the end I never received one *****, not one! I gave up! I went to work sick or lost pay, resulting in increasing credit card debt! This year my state has created a paid leave insurance that I can participate in, and in the future I will nope out of anything involving New York Life.

New York life insurance is hands down the worst insurance Ive ever even heard of let along had. They refuse to cover anything and pay out short term or long term. They **** beyond words. If I could give them negative stars I absolutely world. After my wife gave birth, the short term leave they gave her amounted to a total of 25$.

They take months to deny your claims. The appeals process takes forever. Also they do not answer. Phone calls. The initial claim manager you will work with is probably somebody very incompetent and ghetto. My appeal was airtight and they had no choice but to pay me, but it was a year after I started the process.

I was involved in a horrible accident in 2024 that left me completely disabled. NEW York Life initially approved my short term disability, but after a short while they denied it, claiming my doctor did not give enough information. My doctor would fill out all the paperwork and fax it to them and it was never enough. My condition, never changed. Only worsened. Now, one year later, I've applied for long term disability, and of course, they still have not "received enough information." I have not been paid in nearly a year. This company is heartless and worthless. I have spoken to an attorney about filing a lawsuit and I've already sent the demand letter. Don't play their games. If you can find an attorney to take them on- do it. Stop allowing them to give you the run around. The only way to get this company to do what's they should is to sue them. They should be forced to be 100s of thousands of dollars for their unethical practices.

My father bought a $75,000 life insurance policy through New York Life insurance in 1987. He never missed a payment and his payments were never late. Now, at the age of 86, it has been cancelled because he didn't pay his $100 premium by end of year 2024. He is 86 and tried to pay on the phone once he figured it out. Unfortunately, he was confused during the automated phone call and thought he made a payment. He alerted me to the issue when he recognized the problem (I am his daughter) and I called multiple times and sent an email to the only email address I could locate. Nothing. They wouldn't work with me. They wouldn't work with my father. Thirty-nine years of paying and literally nothing. While I understand that people must make on time payments, aging can bring about all kinds of memory issues. But if your track record is 38 to 1, doesn't that mean anything? This company has not a shred of human decency; he will get nothing. And, not that they care, I will spend the remainder of my life telling anyone who will listen that New York life is a predatory, nasty company that does not care about doing anything right as long as they get their **** money. Last year, their CEO raked in nearly five times as much as my father ever made in a year in his career as a professor. The irony of it all is that their tag-line is: More than a policy. An act of love. What a joke.

I filed on 01/07/25 &its been difficult since. They constantly ask for additional documentation from my OBGYN and my Behavioral Health Therapist. All information gets provided and just recently they asked for a 2 question form to be filled out by my obgyn asking why my condition interfered with my job and they stated they have not received any response back from my obgyn. I reached out to my doctors office and they stated they hadnt received any further requests from ***. I then called *** and every *** I get tells me the information needed is the medical request which has been provided along with doctor visits that ****** has confirmed. When I spoke to ****** on 02/10 she stated she just needed the clarification questionnaire filled by my OBGYN so I asked her to send a copy of it to me since they have been having a hard time receiving the request and she stated it would be available on my portal and it wasnt. I called my obgyn again on 02/14 and they had yet to receive documents. NYL was closed Monday due to the holiday and Just yesterday I called to get an update stating the request was just sent to my obgyn just yesterday. I keep getting the run around and asked for a call back 2x after I called my obgyn to see if they received the fax and they did not. ****** failed to call me back, instead I received a denial letter this morning. How is it that they magically had the documentation to come up with a denial after she had told me that she would give me until march to provide all documentation? I called just a few minutes after receiving the denial through my portal and the person who helped me stated ****** called me back yesterday and left me a voicemail which is a lie because I was specifically by my phone waiting for a call back and no missed call or voicemail was received. I pay for both short and long term disability through my job and they are refusing to provide the service I pay for. Its a very unethical company and does things to not approve claims.
