Terrible company!!! I worked for them and they never paid me for 6 months. They do not pay for training unless you burn all your bridges by collecting your friends and family information so they can continue calling even after you leave. If you have family or a love one or need a steady job this is not it. Management is horrible and will blame you as soon as you come asking for pay. I wish I can leave a 0 star review. Dont work here!New York Life Insurance Company

Based on the information the customer provided we are unable to determine which specific claim they are referring to. We sent the customer an email on June 12, 2024 to obtain more information and try to assist with the concerns they are having. To date, the customer did not respond to provide any additional information we had requested. If the customer is willing to provide more information to us full name, incident number for their claim, DOB, etc - we'd be glad to look into this further.Review fromTwery B

I had been with NYL long term disability since 11/2021. My claim was closed due to lack of doctors response . If I would have known they needed more information at that time, I would have been all over it. It took a month to get to the appeals team as my rep. refused to return my calls ******. So I got it escalated to her manager ***** through customer service and she has endlessly given me the run around trying to keep this mistake off her books. Now it has been escalated to her manager ********* and she promised answers within 48 hours and she is now not taking or returning calls. I had 3 weeks very ill to go running around and get a 5 page document filled out by 6 of my doctors, and 4 months later I have still not gotten paid. I have only gotten more sick both physically and mentally since I started with them in *********************************************************************** Whoever reads and responds to this complaint Will you help me?New York Life Insurance Company

We regret that the customer had a poor experience with our **********************. We understand her frustration and hope she can understand it is our goal to administer the policy according to its terms. The policy requires that receive proof that the customer is Disabled according to the policy terms. In this case, the medical documentation received to date has failed to provide sufficient proof that the customer is Disabled according to the policy terms. On 5/23/24 we sent the customer a letter detailing our adverse decision and her appeal rights. To date, she has not appealed the decision and would encourage her to do so. Should the customer have any questions, she may contact our *** Team Leader, ********, with any questionsReview fromHelga M

1 starThe company has not defined its use of the terms effective and release dates regarding the payment of monthly funds to beneficiaries.I have repeatedly asked agents/employees to answer my questions regarding benefits, and have received no answer. One cannot do anything without knowing the timing of financial benefits.I find it necessary to contact organizations outside of the insurance company for state law and advice.Review fromCheryl M

Paid insurance for short term disability for over 11 loyal years through my employer and never had need for a claim until recently. Became ill and out of work for a few months due to debilitating symptoms from unknown condition. NY Life denied claim stating my records did not support functional impairment and no documentation of what activities or tasks unable to perform. Records clearly indicated what my impairments were and testing was still in progress in search for a diagnosis. During appeal doctor provided a letter and finally a diagnosis. The nurse case managers picked and choose the medical evidence they wanted to use and ignored what was evident. Their practices are deceitful and geared to falsely deny your case not to pay you. Im very disappointed in this company. I had a false sense of comfort thinking if I fell sick I could count on this insurance to help me. I suffered a major financial burden due to this. I will be canceling this useless policy.New York Life Insurance Company

We regret that the customer had a poor experience with our **********************. We understand her frustration and hope she can understand it is our goal to administer the policy according to its terms. The policy requires that receive proof that the customer is Disabled according to the policy terms. In this case, although the customer reported she was unable to work, we determined that the findings in the available medical records failed to support a level of severity in her condition to prove that she was Disabled. The customer has exhausted all administrative levels of appeal and no further appeals will be considered.Review fromMary D

1 starThey are not a good agency for long term disability. (New York life Solutions ) I got this insurance thru an employer and when I needed it they gave me the run around. I paid into short and long term disability and when I needed my short term they waited 6 months to help me an I almost lost my home and car. My long term disability supposed to be 500.00 a month but I only receive a 100.00 a month. Barely getting by.Now that I’m 2 years into my long term disability I’ve asked for a settlement because it’s going to be years before I even be able to think about work. I got to have total knee replacement on both knees an they got to work on my back. But New York life solutions giving me the run around. I worked 35 years of my life an can’t work now paid for all that insurance an they don’t even want to pay. Be care when dealing with them cause they don’t have your best interest in mind.Review fromQuanija M

Im currently pregnant with 12 weeks to go before I deliver. My OBGYN told me I couldnt work for medical reasons. I applied for long-term disability insurance on March 25, 2024, with New York Life Insurance. Its been a nightmare dealing with this company. I was told by G that they have all the information needed to make a decision and it takes 2 to 3 weeks. Friday I received a call from G stating they needed more information when I was told they had everything they needed. Im tired of getting the run around with this company, seems like its always something, its been almost 2 months and nothing. I have bills to pay and am on the verge of losing my apartment because of this. My insurance got canceled, my phone is going to be off, my lights getting ready to shut off, and my car is up for repossession. My account is overdrawn due to my buying food and buying insulin and other medications due to my pregnancy. Due to having pre-gestational diabetes, I cant eat certain foods, it can get expensive. I dont know what else to do in this situation. Im hoping I can get some type of help with my situation.New York Life Insurance Company

1 starIve paid into *** for 30 years and New York Life is doing everything possible to stretch out the claim process. The case manager rarely responds to messages or voicemails. Ive been sent the same letter of correspondence 4 times. Its been going on since December and Ive spoken with a case manager 3 times. I was told my documents from my primary doctor, neurologist, psychiatrist, and therapist were received and were sent for review weeks ago. I was told I would hear something within a week, instead I got a call from the case manager stating she had called and faxed all care givers with more questions. I have documentation from all stating nothing of the sort was received. Two weeks passed and I was notified that a backdated fax was received but, the question/information being requested had already been addressed on the initial paperwork. Ridiculous- but each caregiver responded again. On 4/9/2024, I finally spoke with the case manager and she claimed to be reading from the neurologists form. Dr. ******* saw no reason why I couldnt perform any of the daily tasks of teaching. I immediately called his office and the nurse emailed me a copy of both forms submitted to the New ******************* by my neurologist. The information was the exact opposite. She flat out LIED probably hoping I would drop my case. Since, *** tried to reach the case manager or a supervisor and neither will respond. So much for the 24 hour turn around response policy. I will also present this information to my school corporation and school board- Im sure these stakeholders will be disappointed that their bi-weekly contribution to this company is useless. Perhaps its time to find a new corporation insurance company.Review fromScott N

1 star7 weeks of no response to voice mails asking to return my call about my LTD BENEFITS. ALL I EVER GET IS MY CASE MANAGER IS NOT IN THE OFFICE AT THIS TIME. Terrible customer service, we pay for this in case of emergency that sadly happened to me. Now I have had little to no income for 4 months and still no resolution. I have exhausted my savings and things are getting bad. My credit is suffering, my livelihood has suffered beyond the medical problems now I am worried about my family and still no call back or information.Review fromFletcher S

This company is the worst when it comes to paying disability which is its sole purpose. *** submitted everything theyve asked me too 5 times including once directly into my portal. I still havent gotten paid for a month. Theyre crooks and should be investigated. All their customer service people barely speak English and have no idea what theyre doing. Im compiling all my evidence and building a case because what theyre doing is illegal.New York Life Insurance Company

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We regret that the customer had a poor experience with our **********************. **************** is extremely important to us and we have escalated the customers concerns to the appropriate levels of management to be addressed. According to our review, the customer ceased working on June 25, 2023 and was not eligible for benefits under the policy until August 1, 2023. Since the customer ceased working prior to his effective date, they are not eligible for STD benefits. On April 15, 2024 our Claim Manager attempted to contact the customer to address his concerns and left a message. Should the customer have any concerns, they may contact our Claim Manager, Chemaka, for assistance.
