I am writing to formally express my frustration regarding an unresolved claim associated with my vehicle's windshield that has been left open for the past four years without my knowledge. Despite my repeated attempts to seek clarification and resolution, LexisNexis has failed to notify me of this open claim or respond to my phone calls and emails. The claim in question was erroneously left open, which directly impacted my car insurance premiums. As a result of this negligence, I have incurred additional costs of $60 per six-month premium over the span of four years, amounting to a total of $480. This situation is unacceptable, and I expect prompt action to rectify this mistake.I kindly request that LexisNexis:Provide a formal written explanation regarding why the claim was never closed.Immediately close the claim and correct any associated records affecting my insurance premiums.Reimburse me the full amount of $480 for the excess payments I have made due to this error.Issue a formal apology for the inconvenience caused.Sincerely,Business Response

Beginning in January, 2025, this business has caused problems for me in obtaining an automobile lease and insurance. By reporting erroneous information, they have caused irreparable harm to my credit and consumer buying power. They reported that I had an at fault accident in February of 2022, which is not true. This has affected my ability to obtain insurance at a reasonable rate as well as denial of insurance. Attempts to obtain information from them results in the same scenario: go to their website and request information. Then they send you a PIN and direct you to a website, but the PIN doesn't work. LexisNexis Risk Solutions **** takes complaints from consumers extremely seriously and we have a robust process in place for resolving such matters, including a Legal review of all responses and handling by our Operations Escalated Response Team.
For Better Business Bureau (BBB) complaints, we continue to use a generic response for posting on the BBB website and a mail a more fulsome response to the consumer.? We have taken this approach to safeguard consumer-specific data; the BBB has confirmed that this is the better approach.
If the consumer does not agree with the BBB website response he or she can then reject the case on the BBB website; however, it keeps the consumers data safe.??
And to reiterate, a separate letter is sent to the consumer with the specific details of the resolution via mail.Customer Answer

LexisNexis provided a report to my car insurance company that stated my son had an at fault accident in 2023. He wasn't a licensed drive until 2024 and the accident happened in another state than where we live. The insurance company for the claim doesn't have my son listed. It's someone else with the same date of birth. I have been going back and forth with LexisNexis to try to clear this up. I have provided my son's license and a copy of his driver's history. Neither shows a record of the accident. My insurance company refuses to go by his driver's history but insists that the information from LexisNexis is accurate. I have provided all the proof that my son wasn't involved in any accident in 2023. He did not live in *****, the location of the accident, and was not a licensed driver at that time. All I have been given is the run around. This has caused my insurance policy to increase by $100 per month. I need to have this rectified immediately.Business Response

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:The report from the insurance company that they are referencing as the source of the information does not have my son listed. His name does not appear anywhere in the accident claim. The email from the insurance company is attached. While the information is correct, it has been incorrected linked to my son. This should have been clear to LexiNexis. This is negligence on their part and needs to be corrected immediately.

I need to know if Nexis Lexis is a legitimate company. I am receiving letters from ****************, ************ and LexisNexis stating they could not verify my identity to open an account or to check on disputes respectively so no account was opened and or data report given out. I want to know if Lexis Nexis is real because I received TWO identical letters dated February 9, 2025 from Lexis Nexis stated I was DISPUTING some data currently on my files but that once I prove my identity they will send me information after speaking to the source that gave them that information. They would also give ME a copy of my file report that they have that they send to agencies that ask about my information such as insurance companies, driving records, credit card etc. They would also put a FREEZE on my report since I was suspecting IDENTITY theft. I gave her the CONSUMER NUMBER AND CASE NUMBER ONE of the letters I received, However, the representative said I had to PROVE they were speaking to me to put on the fraud alert and send a report to me on who way asking for my information. To prove my identity, The representative, ******, to give her my Social Security Number, or Drivers License. I did not give her SSN but reluctantly gave my drivers license. She asked what state license issued in, I said, *******, and then she asked if I was a RESIDENT of that state. I asked her why she couldn't use the consumer or case number and TELL ME what she had and I would very it. She said she couldn't use that to get access. When she asked for my DOB I did not give it and asked her what else she needed to VERIFY me, she said my address. I told her LEXIS NEXIS ALREADY MAILED TWO LETTERS SO YOU should ALREADY have that information and just MAIL the information to me at the address YOU HAVE on file. I will have to research you more to see if you are credible. That is why I am contacting the BBB. Thanks for any assistance.Business Response

For several years now I've been getting (and paying) unusually high quotes for automobile insurance. And several times, in response to information provided by ***** insurance, referencing reports from LexisNexis, I've gone online to request what information LexisNexis has on file. Each of those requests resulted in them sending me a letter stating that they have been "unable to authenticate [my] identity and therefore cannot process [my] request." The last letter stating such was received, dated February 14, 2025, and this was after I'd spoken in person, to a LexisNexis representative via a phone call on February 13, 2025. In this phone call I detailed the previous responses from LexisNexis claiming insufficient information, and I provided all of the information requested of my by their representative, as I had done each time I completed the online form. I have yet to get clarification on whatever else they CLAIM to need to verify my identity.Business Response
