I am 72 years old and semi-retired. I was approached by Sunco (now *****) with an offer for solar panels.Initially, I was told solar panels would provide enough electricity to eliminate the entire electric bill for my 4 floor brownstone. With these savings along with government incentives the system would be mine at no net cost. The installation date was September 26, 2023. When I got the *********** I found out that I am only set up to get power on one floor not four. Despite the promises they never powered the entire house. Please note the following:When I requested an itemized bill I was denied since the purchase is a "package deal". So there is no documentation of what I was told I was getting. When I tried to terminate the purchase within the contractedgrace period, I was threatened with a lawsuit.I only signed two documents. My signature was automatically pasted onto documents I was not presented! The phone app provided by Sunco monitors panel performance. It claims thepanels are working. However, I spoke with an agent from **********'s Solar division and they foundthat there is no utilization of solar panel generated energy. After thorough study I was told that the system in place is not functioning and never was in service.I am currently receiving the same electric bill I did in the past with the same usage. There is no indication of an offset by solar energy production. The anticipated savings was expected to pay towards a loan, that they had arranged with Enium. This loan was used to pay for the panels and their installation. The loan amount is $48,000, none of which is being paid by the anticipated savings that have not been realized.I have only received non-functioning equipment and no net savings. It has been almost a year since I started business with Sunco and they have failed to deliver their obligations to the contract. I should be released from any financial responsibility and be reimbursed for payments made toward the loan.

We informed the customer that we could add another floor to his solar system. We want the customer to see the benefit of adding a floor to the system. We need to monitor his system for some time to verify that he will benefit from it. I will review the bills he has sent and verify if he is within the standards of adding the additional floor and if it will help the customer. It is too late to cancel the contract. I will review the customer's account for any potential solutions.

I had panels installed on my property *********************************** they were suppose to be connected to unit A meter#******** but con ****** had provided Interval reports that the panels were in fact connected to unit B meter#********. I provided the solar company with the reports from Con ****** showing the error that was made on the companies behalf and the response was as follows: Hello ********, I would like to let you know that upon reviewing the information about your project we found that the information provided by ********* is inaccurate since the system was found to be connected to the Meter number ******** and its respective account. Attached to this message you will also find a copy of your approval letter showing the account ********* gave the approval for the connection and also an image of the meter itself we connected your system to. Since the connection was done according to the original plan, I am sorry to let you know that there is no corrections we will be able to place, however, if after receiving this information you still want a crew to be sent out to review your unit we can send a crew under the following terms of service: If while our crew comes out they determine the issue reported is unrelated to the work we performed, there will be a $250 service charge fee for our coming out and fixing the issue. However, If the issue is related to the work we performed, then we will fix the issue for you free of charge. Please help us by replying to this message by either agreeing or denying to the terms of service so we can proceed and further assist you. We look forward to your reply. Clearly if the reports from Con ****** would have reviewed properly by the solar company there would be not question that the error was on behalf of them. But the response of the rep ****** I spoke to was we did everything right and there is nothing we can do. I have seen several complaints made from other customers. Our customer service representative followed our proper procedure. Everything in our records shows that we connected to the correct meter and we have the approval from the utility company showing that we connected to the correct meter. If we visit and find that we did make a mistake we will fix it free of charge. Sending our crew is expensive since it takes away appointments for other homeowners. We are more than willing to send our team to check. The customer has to agree to our terms of service before we send our team.

I am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction with the misleading information provided by your representative and the subsequent poor customer service I received.A representative from Sunco met with my husband and me to explain the government incentives for installing solar panels. He assured us that we could claim the solar panel costs on our 2023 federal and state tax returns and receive 30% of the costs back as incentives. This incentive, he said, would significantly reduce our monthly payments, estimating them to be around $220. Based on this information, we decided to go solar. However, we have since discovered that this information was entirely false. Contrary to the representative's claims, we did not receive even 5% of the promised government incentives. Consequently, the monthly payment that was supposed to be $200 is now an exorbitant $550. This enormous disparity is both outrageous and deceptive. In addition, when I reached out to the company for clarification, I spoke with ************************* from ATTYX (formerly Sunco Beam). Her response was not only unhelpful but also rude and dismissive. Despite informing her that the conversation with the original Sunco representative was recorded, she denied any wrongdoing and treated my concerns with utter disdain. The false information provided by your company has caused significant financial strain, and the unprofessional behavior of your staff has compounded my frustration. I expect immediate action to address this issue and a thorough review of your sales practices to prevent future customers from being similarly misled. Please contact me at your earliest convenience to discuss how this matter can be resolved satisfactorily.

We inform the customer of the incentives that are available to the customer. We do not guarantee the amounts the customer may receive when applying for these incentives. We state in the contract the customer is responsible for consulting with a tax professional to know their qualifications and the amounts the customer can receive. We are not tax professionals so we dont know what the customer may receive. We do not determine the monthly payment. The customer got a home improvement loan to finance the project. Their lender determines the customer's monthly payment. This sounds like a misunderstanding of the incentives.

On August 2023 an agent of sunco solar came to my home and requested to see my electric bill in order to help me pay less by installing solar system for free. Into the conversation I was told that I am qualified for a $ 55 000 loan that the government will pay $33 000 out of the $55 000 loan and so my loan will reduce to $22 000 and with that my payment will be $200 a month starting a year from the signing of the contract on that day. He also said I will only pay about $60 delivery electric charge from *** ****** my electric company. I was sold because my electric bill that time was about $480 per month. **** the sunco agent said :" when you sign this contract you will not pay electric bill only $200 for the solar for 25 years after that the panels are yours and you will not pay anymore electric bill."He said that everything that he has told me is the same in the contract fine. I trusted him and signed the contract. It has been 9 months has not benefited from the solar . My con electric bill has double and been hit with a loan payment of $560 starting September 24 plus my currently $600 electric bill. I have called sunco so many times and no one is getting back to me. They installed my roof and after a rain discovered that my getter damaged by their ladder. I sent pictures of leaking gutter and have not received a call back.I was lied too and I regret signing up for this contract.

The customer signed a contract with a total price of $55,000. The customer is eligible to apply for tax incentives. We do not guarantee these tax incentives. We state this in the agreement. If the customer gets these amounts his net cost could drop as low as $22,500. But we do not guarantee it. The monthly payment is between the customer and the loan provider. We do not guarantee the monthly payment we can only give an estimate. The customer signs a loan agreement that goes over the loan details including the monthly payment. Solar will not double the electricity bill. Solar will only help the bill. If the bill rises the customer is using more electricity. If the customer is still receiving a bill he is using more energy than the solar is producing. If the customer wants to see savings he needs to use less electricity. We have an appointment to fix the issue with the gutter.

Sunco now renamed Attyx still did not provide the project approval request to the building department in order for me to receive the tax abatement $11 0000.

I was also told by sunco employee at the signing of the document that I will have one year free before starting paying  the loan of $55 000 and any amount paid within that one year grace ****** will be deducted from the original loan and a new payment amount arrangement will be made. Within the one year grace ******,  I made a payment of $7000. Instead of applying towards the loan amount.  I was told the money served as deferred interest payment.  Which i was never told. The whole thing  is a scam. I feel betrayed by this solar company.  I have called Mosaic several times the loan company provided by Sunco and told about where the $7000 should be applied.  I was told to call Sunco. I called Sunco now Attyx , I was also told to call Mosaic.  I feel like I  have been scammed.  I have been told the building department on ************* so many times.  I was that the papers filles by Sunco now Attyx is not complete . The building department has sent Sunco now Attyx to complete the process but has not received a return from Sunco. I sent Sunco the documents received from the building department and was told by Sunco now Attyx staff that they are working on it. It s been 2 years. I need the 2 situations to be resolved.  I am paying $490 to Mosaic for the loan and my electricity bill is $368 monthly  . Both combined  $800 plus monthly.  I used to pay  $350 to $370 my electricity without solar. Now my bills has doubled  Instead lower it.  This is a scam. Please look into it.

I sent a writing letter to Mosaic about applying my payment total $7 000 towards my principal . I was told to contact Sunco.  I called Sunco and also sent back to Mosaic.  They are playing with me back and forth.

I have another problem that arrived. My roof was done by Sunco and a spot on the roof left opened that gave access to raccoons to introduce themselves into my attic. We barely can sleep because of the noise. I called animals control but was told that the spot left opened on the roof needed to be closed.

I would like some proof that Sunco is working on the tax abatement.  I was at the building department and was told that Sunco didn't request for a sign off.  That is what building department told me. My papers were there according to the clerk all this while because they have not received the request for sign of from Sunco.

My complaint with Sunco solar now known as *****. They promise to lower my electric bill with solar panels and a no-cost new roof. No money down. The cost is $70,000 but with the huge government incentives I would pay less than $40K. They finance the loan Enium loan company that I am now paying back $364 that is more than my light bill before I got their solar panels installed. My problem started after they install the so call new and solar panels. In less than six month my roof starts to leak. My roof continues to leak in the same area whenever it rains. I try to call their customer service which is non-existent. I was told that the only way I can communicate with them is via email ****************** manage attention *************************) and when I have a problem I have to take picture and sent it via email. They have attempted to repair my roof four times and the roof continues to leak in the same area. The dampness and leaking has damage my ceiling, my window frame and mold is now growing in between the ceiling and roof which is causing my health issues/asthma.The roof that they have installed is not done correctly, water seems to be trapped in the roofing material and the leak continues when it rains. My resolution at this point is for them to come and take their solar panels back and cancel the deal. I am not comfortable with them working on my roof and sending people who do not speak English. I cannot communicate with these people. They do not speak English. I find online many people are having the same bad experience as I am having. I am a senior citizen I am on a fix income and this is causing me great hardship. I need help..These people are causing me a lot of hardship. I am stress out with nightmare just about every night. They are scammer . They do not have no good workmanship. I do not want to work with them. I gave them every chance I could in gave good faith and they are not working with me. I don't know how to upload photos but I can email them to you

We have been in contact with this customer. Our customer service team is not nonexistent. We have spoken to this customer multiple times. We have her communicate through email because she has harassed our employees and has not been respectful on her calls. We do not allow our employees to be treated that way. We have tried to fix the customer's roof leak. We are working on getting her scheduled again. We will not take the solar panels off, it is too late to cancel the contract. We are working with this customer.

I would like to file a complaint against a solar company named SUNco. Another company thats linked to SUNco called ***** and their service finance department. A SUNco representative came to my home in March to discuss roof repairs and solar panels. I wanted paneling on my roof to go green and to save money on energy and my ********* bill. The sales rep name was *********************, he was pleasant and we didnt have a clue that he was about to scam us out ******. He told us no money down, nothing out of pocket, we will only pay $170 monthly payments for the solar service after 20 years we will be paying nothing towards the service and we will eliminate ***************** fees altogether. So of course we signed up. I just got my home in November. I still havent moved in as of yet because Im still renovating. The solar rep sees that this was the perfect opportunity to take advantage of me being a first time homeowner and that Im just getting started with my new home. On ********************* computer he had the payment of $170 but when they sent me a email of the contract it stated nothing about a monthly payment. The payment stated that I must pay them for their solar panels that cost $****** which I can not possibly afford. I only became aware of this contract after they replaced my roof and the paneling in a matter of 3 days. No permits I had to sign nothing. They just swooped in with their fast words and their fast work and I was left with a scam on my hands. We tried calling *********************, we tried calling ************************* another conman who said in his emails that if we have any questions or concerns feel free to call him at anytime. Meanwhile whenever we tried calling these scammers we can never get through to them or they will never have any answers to our questions. We spoke to a representative at their finance department and she told us that our first payments will be almost $400 then after 18 months we will be paying a lot more, over $500 more. So we refuse to listen any further we hung up the line. We called so many sales reps and they never gave us the answers we needed to hear the first time we spoke to the sales rep in our home *********************. We never spoke to him again after that day. Every sales representative from SUNco, ATTYX and their finance department I clearly stated that I do not want their underhanded services because they didnt meet the requirements that they stated to me when their sales rep entered my home. I also stated that I want their panels off my roof immediately! Theres no way I can afford their solar equipment. All of these solar companies are government funded. Theyre already paid by the government for their solar paneling and all I wanted was their solar service like that stated the very first time. Please help me out! I can not afford their corrupt services! Im definitely being scammed out of what little money I have. Im a first time home owner. I own my home for only 5 months and SUNco came in and took advantage of me. My name is ********************* I live at ************************************. Please investigate this matter. I dont want to resolve any payments with them. I rather pay ConEdison. I just want SUNco to come take their solar panels off my roof. Thank you

The customer signed the contract in February. We had a recorded welcome call with the customer that discussed the contract details and the customer agreed to the total contract price. The customer is sent a copy of the contract after they sign it. If the customer did not look for the contract or the link expired they need to contact us for a copy. It is too late to cancel the contract after the installation is started. We do not control the monthly payment it is the customers lender that controls it. They will need to speak to them about it. We do not guarantee the monthly payment. If the customer uses the available tax incentives that can lower the monthly payment.

The contract states the cost of the project the customer is responsible for, on multiple pages. We also verified that the customer signed the loan agreement. This loan agreement also states the total amount of the loan. The customer also verbally agreed to the total amount. The customer did sign the contract. I have uploaded a copy of it. We do not guarantee the monthly payments. It states in our contract “Any promises can lead to misunderstandings. We will gladly put promises in writing.” It does not state the monthly payments.

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because: Sunco is being extremely dishonest. They are predatory lenders. They advertised free roofs on the internet. After I contacted them Sunco sent a sales representative to my home. Never once did he mention that I would be borrowing $86,000, or that I would be paying over $350 a month for 18 months then over $520 a month thereafter. Had he presented these numbers to me I would never have agreed to any contract with this company. The reason I decided to go solar in the first place was to save on my electricity bill with Con Edison which is less than $300 a month. He never showed me any contract. He said my monthly payments would be $170 a month for 15 years and my payments would never increase. I never saw the contract until they emailed it to me after we had already made the agreement. And truly I didn’t sign any contract. It was a generated signature that he had which spelled out my name. My actual signature is nowhere on that contract. We found out afterwards from my tax preparer that we cannot apply for the tax incentives until January 2025 and that those incentives are not guaranteed to everyone. I am an American citizen. I work for the city of New York. I earn only $60,000 a year. I am a first time home owner. I’m a single mother of 3. I cannot afford a $86,000 loan. If that number was shown to me I would have never agreed to that amount. I’m seeking your help to resolve this matter because I have nowhere else to turn.

Not one year has passed since I had Solar panels installed by Sunco Solar. The company installed electrical system to support the panel power. The electrical system Sunco installed malfunctioned. The Solar panels are not registering. I notified Sunco Solar February 14th. This system is under warranty. I was given a price of $1117.00 for repair, why should to pay? I have been waiting & emailing this company. Sunco has not given me an appointment for repair.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

[The company has not contacted me with a repair date or plan. The company refuses to take responsibility for their defective circuit breaker, which has affect other parts of my home. Sunco is trying to see when it stop working, or who is at fault. This solar system was installed in June of 2023. This system is under warranty and be should be  repaired and. replaced by the company with no cost to me.

We are in contact with this customer to work on a repair date. After our electrical team looked into the issue we saw that changes were made after our installation. Because we did not cause these issues they are not covered under the warranty. The customer is aware and we are working toward a resolution.

Misleading sales people, they calculated my coned bill to determine how many solar panels will be needed, they charge me 74k for 11 panels to cover my electric use, so far its been a 18 months and Im still paying a high coned bill and now with a new 74k loan at 340 monthly, they also did a poor job on my roof leaving a high spot in the middle of my flat roof going all the way across, so water puddles on the upper half of my roof.

      Business Response

      Date: 03/26/2024

When we calculate how many panels the customer needs, it is an estimate based on the past bills of the customer. The customer may use more energy than in the past. The solar still helps with the utility bills, but if the customer uses more energy than the ********************** produces, they will still get a bill from their utility company. When we redo the roof, we do not change the slope of the roof. It states in the contract that we do not guarantee pooling will not occur.

Date of contract 05/22/22 Sunco Solar its saying that the roof its not leaking and that its just condensation. However, I have video of water coming in thought the nail and the repair that they have made to my new roof. I have spoken to them without a successful out come. Also, Sunco sent a staff that damage my solar by dropping a black glue. Picture its attach. I will like for Sunco to repair all my damage in and out of my property due to careless and unprofessional team. All these caused damage to our roof, ceiling and home because of the leak and poor roof workmanship done. I took a loan that I am still paying and I feel *** and scam by them.

We are trying to work with this customer.  After our most recent visit, our team determined that the condensation in the roof was due to no vents. And adding vents would solve this issue. We have made a very generous offer to help fix this issue. The customer denied this. We have recently tried to set up an appointment with the customer, and they are refusing us to try to solve the problem.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

The issue at my house it’s not vent it’s due to a water leak from nail and poor air installment. The house 4 vent to upfront and two at the back. Also, SUNco team paste a black glue on my Solar panel when they sent their team to see the leak problem that in their eyes it’s condensation !!! This poor installment has cause a lot of damage to my house. I had a second, evaluation to the roof and sent proposal to SUNco. However, they don’t agree to it !!! No other choice to continue seeking for help between us with this matter. SUNco has to take ownership of Thier team mistake and solve the issue.

Leak problem its the big issue as well a black glue in my Solar panel. They don't want to solve the issue; no other option just take them to court and resolve all these issue in court with a judge.  To much I said and you said. !! Own your mistake SUNCO !!!. I am still paying for a loan and all my house its a mess for your careless staff.  Its a poor installment and leak its occurring. !!! Plain and simple..  I am not the only one that has this issue with Sunco they are many complaint too with them.

      Thank You.

We had solar from Sunco installed last year. We were told by ses rep *************************** that we would be getting back ****** dollars in solar rebates. The way the paperwork was written it appeared the total cost of our loan was ****** dollars and could hold off payments for 12 months. It turns out that salesman rolled the ****** into the total cost of the loan. This was fraud perpetuated on a 70 yr old senior couple. This is criminal

The contract shows that the customer can receive tax credits. We explain in the contract that we do not guarantee the credit amounts. We advise the homeowner to check the qualifications. The agreement clearly states multiple times the amount the homeowner agrees to pay.

Been resolved  as we did our taxes and are not receiving the amounts of "rebates" listed in the contract. Also we did not receive ***** worth of equipment or solar panels. We asked for itemization of work done. We spoke to someone in the accounting  **** who  actually said if the cost of the system was lower we would not get the amount of the rebates listed in the contract and that is why it is the amount listed. We did not get *****.00 worth of solar. We only had 9 panels installed. This is Taki g advantage of a 70 year old couple.
