First and foremost, my grandfather was a Goodyear employee for the better of 30+ years. On 2/28/23, we called the local Goodyear to obtain a new set of tires using his discount. Over the phone, we were told by the Goodyear at ***************************************************************** that we could apply the discount in store.Upon arriving at the store, we were told that those orders must be completed online only, cannot be done in-store, and there are no discounts offered locally. We paid $865.96 for a set of 4 Goodyear Assurance MaxLife 235/60/18 instead of the $645.20 we were promised over the phone and on the website. Furthermore, upon having our tires replaced at this location, they permanently damaged our tire sensor. There were no issues with said sensor at the time the vehicle was brought in for tire replacement, and the issue appeared immediately after. The location attempted to "fix" this sensor on two separate occasions, to no avail. They then stated we must return to a dealership to fix the issue. We contacted customer ********************** regarding the broken sensor and how to be reimbursed for the damaged sensor, who claim that the shop is stating they are not responsible for the damage, yet the shop called immediately after customer ********************** contacted them to attempt to fix the sensor a third time and accepted full liability for the damage they caused. We have had an independent mechanic and the dealership state the damage was caused by Goodyear. We have spent several hours attempting to get our tires replaced and our vehicle restored to it's previous functionality.I would like a refund in the amount of $225.76 for the deceitful sales practices offered by this location, as well as a full repair or reimbursement for the damages caused by this location.Business Response

I could not pay my bill online because I was never sent a credit card. I then tried to pay over the phone and it would not take my payment. I then called customer ********************** after quite a hassle to get through. The girl said she could help me and that she seen where I tried to pay but there was an issue on their end. She then said there is a 5 dollar fee for her to do it. I said its not my fault, she said she understood but that is their rules. She even checked again and was told their was a fee. I don't want to be charged a fee. I feel this is a scam to make extra money This happened 2/13/ 2/14/23Business Response

I made an online appointment for February 17, 2023 for an oil change. I selected the standard oil change and received an estimate confirnation for $38.99. I was called immediately after receiving the confrirmation by a Just Tire employee. He informed me that the earliest appointment was Sunday, February 19, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. I accepted it and reported as scheduled. I was waited on by the manager of this business. I told him the selection I wanted and took a seat after checking in. After my car was completed I began to pay for service and found the price to be much higher than the confirmation I received via email. I tried to explain the difference in the selection the manager chose for me versus the selction I made via email. The manager became irate and tolld me he selected the service oil change because it was best for my car. Afraid for my safety I paid and left. I have been patronizing this business for years and never paid such an inflated price before. I want a refund for the difference or a full refund for the inconvenience and mental trauma this manager caused from his belittlement speech of me he spoke to other customers in my presence. He was condesending and very rude. In diton, he refused to adjust the bill.Business Response

Hello I applied for a Goodyear credit card some time ago. When I needed service done on my car by **********. The sales person explained that there would no interest charged for services completed under $500.00 for 6 months and any services completed over $700.00 would ***** a 12 month interest free policy. Goodyear submitted a statement showing that a service done in August of 2022 for over $700.00 was to expire in February (6 months) with a remaining balance of $253.95. When in reality the interest free promotion should have expired in August of 2023. Yet I made two payments of $153.00 and $100.00 in the month of February of 2023. When I could have stretched the payments out with the additional 6 months with the correct 12 months interest free promotion. I was forced to panic thinking I needed to pay the complete bill in order to avoid the interest charges. Still the representative claims I owed an additional $3.95 balance to honor the promotion. I still have a balance for two other interest free promotional balances one in March of 2023 which is for 12 months and one in April of 2023 for 6 months. Someone drop the ball on the billing statement for services done back in August of 2022 which should have expired in August of 2023 instead of February of 2023. I would like to be made whole and have April 2023 expiration date extended for a additional 6 months in order to allow more time to meet the requirements avoiding the interest.Business Response

I purchased 4 new tires on 5/31/22 from Goodyear. I brought it in for the free rotation yesterday 1/30/23 and they stated I need four new tires because they are completely bald and not safe. The previous workers never did an alignment and the store has a copy of the receipt. This has only been less than 8 months. They apologized for any inconvenience and stated they had fired the Manager and most of the staff who was working there at that time last May. When I called to speak to the Manager, ***** stated he can do a $50 charge for two tires and rotation because it was not done previously. He stated unfortunately it would need to go through corporate to handle all 4 tires to be included.Business Response

We took 16 year old son’s car in for 1 bad tire on 1/12/2023. He had picked something up in side wall of tire. We decided though to go ahead and get 4 new tires for complete set. So 1 bad tire replaced all 4 our choice. Took the car back in on 1/19/2023 bc both back tires had deflated. This is one week. I thought possibly maybe not sealed or something. The guy tells me that my son must have drove on back right tire bc it was completely ruined. I said he drives to castle High School and back we have life 360 that tracks him. He said no it has to be more. CHS is 1.7 miles from our house. He brings tire to me shows completely ruined. The inside is totally ruined you can see rubber and metal flakes. He then tells me that the wheels are bad which ruined the tires and back left tire is ruined as well. Said they grinded the wheels down and put extra sealing and beading hoping they would hold. I then said so you put 4 brand new 85,000 mile tires on bad wheels. He said we thought it would hold. I was never once told that the wheels were bad. They mentioned issue with center caps but never wheels. We only had a problem with one tire when it was brought it. My husband works with metal and knows what happens when metal is grinded too much. They ruined the wheels when grinding. How do we go from one tire with something in side wall to 4 bad wheels? Our initial bill was 664.23 which I am fine with. We should not be responsible for 4 bad wheels and 2 more new tires at 75% off. A total of 568.74 is what we are disputing. They ruined the wheels and put our 16 year old in danger. My husband just took it to have tire pressure checked front should be at 30 back should be at 32. Every tire was at different pressure. One front was 30, 27, rear was 26, and 27. They rolled new wheels. We will not take anything back there and may even go to small claims. Attaching both receipts. They put it under my dads name bc we used his Credit card but you will see my signature.Business Response

On March 28, 2022 I had a Goodyear tire fail on my 2004 GMC Denali. It fell apart at 75mph and messed up the side of my vehicle. I have been trying to get them to reimburse me for the purchase of a new tire and the damage to the side of my vehicle. I mailed the tire to GY and they said it had a nail/screw in it and failed because it was driven on while underinflated. They said they would not pay. My last email to them stated I have a friend who is the manager (who has 16 years of experience in tire sales) of a tire retailer . He looked at my tire and said it failed not because of underinflation, but because it was defective. It did NOT have what is known as a heat ring near the rim which you see from driving on an underinflated tire. GY did NOT respond to my last email. That is why I am filing this complaint with the BBB.Business Response

Good afternoon,
We have reviewed the customers concern and after careful investigation and a thorough inspection Goodyear has proven that the tire failure was definitely not a tire defect. The tire has a piece of metal that punctured completely through the tire. There would be no further action for any repairs to customer vehicle. Goodyear would assist customer with a credit of $79.50 which is 50% of the tire purchase price as a goodwill to help customer.
Thank you.
Customer Answer

[BBB transcription via email]Thank you ******.The response from Goodyear is far from adequate. The tire fell apart nowhere near where the supposed screw/nail was in the tire, as the pictures from Goodyear show. The tire did NOT fail because it was underinflated. I have had an underinflated tire fail. The vehicle gradually rides incorrectly and when I pull over, the tire appears deflated and has a heat ring near the rim. This is not what happened. My vehicle was riding totally normally and a nanosecond later, it sounded like World War III broke out. I thought there was a mechanical issue with my car, but after I put the spare on, it drove totally normally. An offer of $79 is ridiculous. The side of my Denali was severely damaged in addition to my having to purchase a new tire. As I have stated, the tire store manager with 17 years experience told me the tire was defective and failed because it was defective. This is someone who sells Goodyear tires as well as *********, which I obviously need to switch to.***** ***Business Response

Good morning,
We have reviewed Mr. ****s claim and upon inspection we have found the tire failure is due to a metal puncture causing the tire to be ran low on air causing the failure. Ther is no defect in the tire. We offered to assist the customer with a pro rated amount for the purchase of his new tire based on the mileage he drove the tire. That is all we would be able to assist with.
Thank you
Customer Answer
Date: 03/02/2023
I am rejecting this response because:
As I have stated, the tire fell apart because it was defective, NOT because it was underinflated. When a tire fails due to underinflation, there is a heat ring near the rim which causes the tire to fall apart at the heat ring. That did not happen in this case. The manager at the tire store I went to agrees with me.

We have reviewed Mr. ***'s claim and upon inspection by our experts, we have found the tire failure is due to a metal puncture causing the tire to be ran low on air causing the failure. There is no defect in the tire. We offered to assist the customer with a pro rated amount for the purchase of his new tire based on the mileage he drove the tire as a good will. Date: 03/03/2023
I am rejecting this response because:
The nail/screw Goodyear claims caused a hole and the tire to become underinflated is not visible on the photos I took of the tire prior to sending the tire to them. I have had a tire fail due to underinflation. The tire will develop a heat ring which gets worse until there is a leak of air at the heat ring. The tire then fails and is totally deflated. This is not what happened in this instance. The fully inflated tire fell apart at 75 mph. If the tire had been on the front of my vehicle, I suspect I would have had a wreck. The manager of the tire shop with 16 years of experience agrees with me. Goodyear's response is inadequate and I guess we will just agree to disagree. This complaint should just be kept on the books at the BBB so others can see it.Initial Complaint

I had a oil change and they didnt tighten the s**** All the oil came out of my Car. I could have blown my engine. I had to pay 250 to tow it and 107 dollars to have the car checked out and refilled and done properly.Business Response

I contacted the customer. I am currently waiting for a copy of tow bill to resolve the issue.Customer Answer
Date: 09/12/2023
[BBB - Received response by phone.]
The consumer contacted a third-party, who towed the vehicle to its location. No receipt was provided to the consumer, so the consumer could not get reimbursed by the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. Goodyear did reimburse the consumer for the oil change.
While the consumer considers the matter resolved, she feels Goodyear was negligent. She was fortunate that her vehicle was newer and had an indicator, which let her know about the sudden oil decrease. Another consumer may not have been so furtunate and the result might have been that consumer stranded on the side of the road with a blown motor.
