I feel compelled to share a recent bad experience that I encountered at Goodyear Auto Service on De Anza Blvd. in Cupertino for a tire replacement service.
Long story short, mechanic left bite marks from the tire mounting machine on all four of the (previously) flawless rims on my Audi. ****** changed her statement and ultimately denied liability. Never coming back and never recommending this store to my family and friends.
Here is the timeline of events as they unfolded.
11/25 -- Came to get new tires for my brand new Audi on Thanksgiving day. Service was good. ****** was friendly as ever. However, noticed damages on all four of my rims. Notified ****** before leaving the store and had photos taken as proof of damage. ****** told me these must be due to a new machine they had recently acquired that needed some more adjustments. She also mentioned she would discuss this with her supervisor and with the corporate and get back to me.
12/6 -- Gave them a good two weeks to settle things out. I gave the store a call and was told again by ****** that she would talk to a supervisor.
12/8 -- I went into the store to get an update. ****** pulled out her phone and told me she was going to send her supervisor another text.
12/12 -- Called ****** again and she asked me to provide my phone number again so that her supervisor could call me.
12/16 -- Called the store again and nobody picked up.
12/17 -- Called the Corporate customer service and had a case created.
Between 12/17 and 1/10, called Corporate many times and kept getting the run arounds.
Finally, on 1/11, called Corporate again and a guy named **** told me the claim was denied. The reason was due to ****** attesting that the marks were not consistent with their tire mounting machine. I asked ****, "so is that it?", which he responded with "yup!".Business Response

I've written a complaint before and you were very helpful so I need you to hear my complaint and tell me what you think!? I bought a $189.00 tire in May 2022 because my tire was getting flat and I wanted to try just tires instead of discount tires cause I wanted to see if they were better. So after they took it off they told me the tire is worn and I need to get a new tire. Ok, how much? $189.00! What, I can't afford that but my friend was with me so my friend paid for it cause they said that the tire was no good ( I've had them for a while) so basically I didn't have a choice and I just eventually paid my friend back. Now I'm disabled and so is my husband (which he was hospitalized from September 2022 til right before Christmas cause of heart failure and a triple bypass surgery and almost 3 months I was in down town ******* ** cause that's where he was hospitalized at so I stood by my son's condo downtown ******* and left my car at my house in ****** **. I noticed my passenger side front tire was getting low, not flat so I went to the gas station a block from my house and he filled it. 3 days later it's looking low again so on 1/13/2023 I went to just tires on ****** **** in ****** ** and I had called there and the guy said bring it at 4pm he will have time to look at it. I go there, waited an hour and a half and a very ignorant, rude guy named ***** told me that I must've been riding on a complete flat and rode the rim and messed up the tire so bad that the rubber was peeling off both sides of the tire and I had to buy a new one for $230.00 cause they are not putting the old tire on cause it's no good and they were going to put my spare on but they couldn't get the trunk open and I told him I didn't want the donut tire, so thank God they couldn't get my trunk open but then in front of 2 other customers he says, yeah we'll put it back on (my bogus tire I bought from them) but we're not responsible for me crashing or medical bills or death? What? Help me!!!Customer Answer

I have never had a company go so far to please there customers! Just tires has a customer for life! Thank you!Initial Complaint

Goodyear periodically has a $75 rebate program available during a given timeframe if you buy four of its tires from an authorized dealer. Twice in the past several years I have done so, filled out the required rebate information IN METICULOUS DETAIL AND EXACTLY AS REQUIRED, submitted it by the deadline, and was denied with an bogus explanation of "Claim did not meet promotion requirements". My conclusion is that Goodyear's rebate program is a sham and they should be held accountable for their deception. I will only consider this issue resolved if they send me the $150.00 that they rightfully owe me.Business Response

Hello,
Goodyear has reviewd customers concern. We have been in contact with the customer and he has sent in invoices and information so that we could determine what happened. We have found customer submitted wrong rebate offer for most recent tire purchase and for that Goodyear will be re issuing customer with a $75 rebate card.. For the previous tire purchase looks like location where customer purchsed tires installed different tires than are what is on his invoice. For the confusion and mishap Goodyear will issue the customer a refund check for the $75 rebate amount.

On 12/14/22 we brought our 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee to Goodyear Auto Service Center ******, **** ****** ******* **., ********** to have four customer tires mounted and balanced. Photos of all four wheels were taken immediately before bringing in the vehicle for this service. Upon arrival after this service was completed the vehicle was still parked inside the Goodyear building. It was at this time that we immediately noticed that all four rims sustained scratches caused by the actions of Goodyear. This damage was brought to the attention of the on-duty manager (*** ****). His reply was to say that Goodyear is not responsible for any damage caused to our property. Our request for redress to Mr. **** fell on deaf ears and we were asked to remove the vehicle from the building. Photos of the four damaged rims were then taken for claim purposes. We immediately contacted Goodyear customer service to address our concerns and was told that the store manager (****) would have to view the damage and file a claim on our behalf. We met with **** on 12/17/22 for this. Without even looking at the damage we were pointing out **** denied that his employees caused the readily apparent fresh scratches to all four rims. We told **** that we were advised by Goodyear customer service that he would have to file a claim on our behalf. At this time we attempted to contact Goodyear Claims at *************** The claims office would be closed until 1/3/23 due to the holidays. On 1/3/23 we once again attempted to contact the claims department only to be placed on hold for 3 hours and 10 minutes until finally giving up and leaving a prompted voice message. We were subsequently able to file a case with the Claim Dept. and given Case #****** dealing with agent ***** ******* (************). The before and after photos were sent to Mr. ******* by email for review. On 1/10/23 Mr. ******* denied our claim for damage restitution despite photographic evidence showing fresh scratches to all four wheels. Mr. ******* stated there was no avenue for appeal to Goodyear regarding the damage thereby prompting this complaint for redress with the BBB.Customer Answer

NOTE: Damaged wheels have Pirelli tires that Goodyear mounted. The Goodyear Wrangler tires show wheels prior to the work being completed at Goodyear.

It has been determined 3 rims had been previously scratched prior to the consumers visit to our location and 1 rim had curb damage. BBB Complaint #******* is denied.Customer Answer
Date: 01/12/2023
I am rejecting this response because: Photos were taken of the wheels immediately before bringing the vehicle to Goodyear and immediately after bringing the damage to the attention of Goodyear personnel. The response made by the business does not address the many scratches to the wheels that were caused by the actions of Goodyear. The evidence provided in this claim is indisputable and any reasonable person would be able to come to that conclusion. Goodyear needs to accept responsibility for the actions of their incompetent employees or machinery and provide the proper restitution for the damage they caused.

Our location is not responsible for the curb rash. Replacing the wheels is unacceptable. The request is denied.Customer Answer
Date: 01/17/2023
I am rejecting this response because: Before and after photos provide indisputable proof that your employee caused the damage to all four of the wheels on our vehicle. Nothing you say in this complaint in the way of excuses will change the facts. You and your employee's misfeasance in this matter is not acceptable. Unfortunately, your company has to cover for the improper training or incompetence of its employees. Your response is rejected as a lie and we will never waiver on our resolve to bring this complaint to a proper resolution.Initial Complaint

I took my 2020 Hyundai Elantra in to get a couple tires done a couple weeks back and the lady was nice and they did a good job on my tires. The only thing is when I picked up my car one of the employees must have left one of the car doors open and it left the light on which killed my battery. I never had a problem with my battery until than. Luckily my boyfriend had jumper cables and we hurried up and jumped it and we were already running late to a party so we didn't go back in Goodyear and say anything. I left a review about this and got a reply from the owner saying to give a call to a 1800 number and they will take care of this. Called and waited about a half hour and finally got connected and the guy said should have said something to the store that day. I said I was running late to a party but he didn't care. This battery cost me almost 300 dollars and I really didn't have the money for tires and a new battery at the time so I'm very upset about the situationBusiness Response
Date: 01/06/2023
Good Afternoon,
Goodyear has decided we will refund the customer 50% of battery purchase. We have called customer and informed them of this decision and customer has accepted the resolution. We will be sending the customer a check for $140 within 7-10 business days.
Thank You

On 12/26 brought a 2014 Jeep wrangler in to Goodyear in *** ***** ******* deal with a mechanical issue. On 12/26 had the thermostat worked on, issue remained, 12/26 was told I needed an oil pump switch. Problem continued to remain. Was advised to take it to the dealership to solve code on check engine light. Proceeded to take the Jeep to ********* ***** in **** ****** **. Dealership found the issue and determined original job of oil pressure switch was misdiagnosed and done incorrectly. Resulting in an additional 2189.61, on top of the 750 already due. Called the Goodyear in *** ***** ******* and was told I’d get a call back, in which I never did. Have spent 8 hrs and 3 days without vehicle, resulting in major stress to finances and mental stress of being a single father without a working vehicle.Business Response

I have a BMW that requires special tires and when I hit a pot hole, my left front tire split on the side. I went to Goodyear in San Leandro and they didn't have the "run flat" tire in stock so they put a "regular tire." As I drove that night, I noticed my car feeling wobbly and not aligned so I went to my BMW dealership the next day and they replaced the tire that belongs with the vehicle.
The tire specialist **** informed me that I could return the tire in 30 days and receive a refund.
I wrote customer care and now he's requesting more receipts from my BMW dealership. I sent him the receipt?
The BMW receipt states the service date and price of the tire and it's on my vehicle.
I signed the receipt showing I purchased the tire...
This isn't about my personal dealing with BMW but with GoodYear giving me my due refund.
This ***** guy in customer service is harassing me...
I returned the tire to **** so Goodyear has the tire.Business Response

We are more than happy to assist the customer with a refund, but we need a complete invoice to proceed with a refund on our end. We need ALL pages of the invoice. All the agent was asking was for that. We will wait until we receive that complete invoice.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because: They have the receipt from my BMW. tHE TIRE THEY HAD IN STOCK DID NOT FIT MY VEHICLE. I'M RETURNING THE TIRE WITH THE GOOD YEAR RECEIPT. MY BMW TIRE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH GOODYEAR, THEY HAVE THE RECEPIT FOR WHAT THE TIRE COST. BBB, THEY SHOULD ONLY BE CONCERENED WITH THEIR RECIPT SINCE THEY PUT THE WRONG TIRE ON THE CARE. PLEASE HAVE THEM REFUND MY MONEY ASAP. WHAT EVER I DO AT BMW IS NONE OF THEIR BUSINESS, THEY DON;T OWN THE VEHICLE...I DO
BOTTOM LINE: THE TIRE IS AT THEIR SHOP WITH THE RECEIPT.
PLEASE SEE THE ****'S MESSAGE....
