I leased a 2023 Kia Sportage on Oct. 2023, which came with Goodyear Assurance Finesse tires. At around 5,000 miles I noticed that the driver side front tire was "tread chunking", so by the time of the first oil change at the dealer ( ***** ***), I reported the issue and they told me that it was normal. I didn't buy the explanation they gave me, but I went about my business. At around 8,500 miles, the issue had gotten worst at the point that many chunks were falling of the tire and the driver rear tire had started to get tread chunking as well. Went to the dealer again and they said that they had nothing to do with the issue and that I had to take it with Goodyear. Called Goodyear and they gave me complaint file number to.take to a Goodyear service shop. Came to the service shop and after inspecting the tires, they indeed said that they were faulty and had tread chunking. They called customer support to see how much "credit " they would give me and that they had to change all 4 tires because the other 2 tires would probably start to have the same issue. They also said that the tire model was discontinued and had to use anothe model. The price to change all 4 tires came out to $998. So I have to change 4 tires for the faulty tires that my vehicle came with and cough up almost a thousand dollars? This is insane. The credit they gave me was $37 for the front tires and around $80 for the rear tires. All because I got faulty tires. And also pay for tire alignment.Business Response

This customer tire was prorated based on the tread reminding on the old tires. The customer also upgraded in to better that was 65.00 more per tire from the original tire price and also the customer was charged for the labor for the replacement tires and the customer also paid for wheel alignment. I advised the customer the tires are out side the no charge time fame so had paid for the prorate and up grade for the replacement tireCustomer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:
I reject this because of the faulty tires (started with front driver side, and then back driver side) I had no choice but to change the tire and since my car is an AWD, they had to change all 4 tires. Tires are supposed to last at least 36,000 miles and mine started to fall apart after 5,000 miles. When I was at the Goodyear store, the store dependent was telling Goodyear customer support that my tires were defective, and then they told me that the tire on my car were discontinued. They left me no choice. I don't care how much tread was left on my tires, they should have replaced my tire when they knew I had a faulty tire, no questions asked. If I would have kept driving with that tire, I could have had an accident or worse, that was a lawsuit waiting to happen. Also, I didn't know the price of my tire compared to the ones they installed. They didn't give options on tires, they just said mine were discontinued and they had those others in stock. And it's an insult the prorated amount they gave me for the tires. I'm just so frustrated and upset with this company.

On Thursday, September 19, 2024, I drobe my car to the GoodYear Auto Service Center **** (at ***** ***** ****, ************, ** *****) for what turned out to be the replacement of both of my automobile's front strut assemblies and a wheel alignment. After the work was completed, I noticed that near the hood on both sides of the car, as well as its front, and on the engine cover, where extensively soiled by greasy smudges and handprints. Within an hour after leaving the shop, the windshield of the car cracked. I had not struck anything, and nothing had struck me. I notified my insurance company, and an arrangment was made for me to have it replaced at at ******** on Saturday, September 21, 2024. As I had to drop the car off, I had to sign up with **** and hire a driver to take me from the shop to the public transport I use to go to work, and then hire another drive after work to take me to the shop. The two **** charges were $80 and I had to pay my deductable of $250 (the insurance company paid the rest/the total, with tax, was $844.63. It is possible that my insurance premium might now go up). The tech at ******** did not see any point of impact to have caused the crack and agreed that it was most likely caused by rough handling by the mechanics who worked on it at GoodYear (such is noted on teh receipt). I have tried over the past few days to reach someone at GoodYear corporate, but have not been able to reach anyone. I took photos of the crack and of the soiled condition in which my car was left (it was necessary for me to us Bug & Tar remover and scrubb it clean). I have not, as of yet, filed a Police report, or left any reviews on social media platforms. The cost of the service at GoodYear, with tax, was $1,382.40. I am hoping to be recompensed by GoodYear for my expenses to have the windshield replaced and receive a check for $330 ($250 deductable + $80 for the two **** rides). I have saved my receipts.Customer Answer

I have included some additonal photos of the cracked windshield and the grease smears and handprints left on the sides and front on my car.Business Response

Upon review of the claim, it has been determined that the location in question is not at fault for the damaged windshield. The complainant stated that an hour after he left the facility the windshield cracked. We were not in possession of the vehicle at the time of the supposed incident. The statement from the windshield repair company documented object hit glass, again we did not have the vehicle at the time. The windshield was intact and not damaged when the complainant picked up the vehicle.
The customer also did not make mention of the grease marks on the vehicle until after vehicle was picked up and left the place of business. The vehicle was picked up at 2:23 in the afternoon therefore would have been seen. The store would have removed the grease from the vehicle.
Based on claim review, requested refund is being declined.

I am rejecting this response because:
The instigating factor or stimulus that caused the crack was more than likely caused by someone at the shop by accident, malfeasance, or carelessness, and manifested itself a short time later (aggravated by the movement of the car). As was observed by the staff at ********, there was no point of impact. I did not hit anything, and nothing hit me. The causality between the service and my discovery of the crack is too great to be dismissed. Before I went to file a police report, or left a review, I thought I would give the shop a chance to make good for what happened. I will not be refunded. Case closed. I respect BBB, and how it looks out for consumers. This decision is not in my favor. Having damage done to my car was a chance I took, that I take, wherever and whenever I bring my car in for service. As a customer, I will exercise my right to leave a review of my experience at that facility on social media platforms, with the inclusion of the pictures, so that people can make an informed decision as to whether or not it is in their best interest to go there or, rather, to different establishment. I feel that perspective customers should be made aware that, should they, too, patronize that shop, they run a chance of their vehicles being manhandled, made to look like garbage (or worse). Having one's automobile serviced is tremendously expensive, and one should not have to worry that one's car might be victimized by mechanics who will treat it so cavalierly.

I bought two new Goodyear tires with road hazard protection. The closest web listed Goodyear dealer is no longer a deal. I called them. The next closest is commercial tires only. Then I am up to close to 2 hours one to the next closest Goodyear.
I called all Good year Customer Service phones number and corporate number twice. The first was a 25 minute plus wait , then a 10 minute wait on hold. Neil I had to give up. Then getting through to corporate only when there closed and to security. That transferred me to sitting on hold, tried again, got hung up on, tried again and was transferred to the wrong department.
The Goodyear road hazard insurance is useless, no one will honor it. Goodyear customer service, or total lack of it!Business Response

Good morning,
I have reached out to the customer through the provided email address to assist with reaching a resolution. I was able to locate and provide the customer with three Goodyear corporate locations address and phone numbers within a ten-mile radius of the zip code provided in the complaint and on the customer invoice. I also requested that if the customer has moved, he can provide his new zip code, and I can further assist following his reply.

I am rejecting this response because:
I am in Kokomo IN, they gave me Goodyear Dealers around Detroit. A couple hundred miles away. I replied to the email and did not see a reply. It is not my fault or responsibility to travel two hours one way because there is nothing close.
The closest store stopped being a Good Year Dealer ship.
The next closest is commercial tire only.
Kokomo is a major city and should have a Goodyear shop close or in it.
I would have to have to lose 6 hours of over time. At $82 a hour, $20 hour pension/annuity, plus $12 health insurance.
I had weeks that would have made it easy to get to a local dealership on time.
No excuse for zero customer service available at anytime calling. At there customer service and corporate offices. Agrevating voice prompts, and on hold for ever!
Making me very sorry I didn’t go to Belle Tire to begin with. And got the road hazard much cheaper. And there stores are more plentiful. And do not have bankers hours.
Goodyear had too many chances to try to fix the problems. And all attempts were useless to contact them. Customers shouldn’t only have a BBB complaint to get some little customer service.

Good morning,
I have been in direct contact with the customer and a resolution has been provided and accepted by the customer.
The customer has been issued a full refund on the single tire that suffered the road hazard failure, as well as a prorated adjustment due to a milage shortfall on the two original equipment tires that were also replaced.
We at Goodyear appreciate the opportunity to address any customer concerns.
Kindest regards,
The Goodyear Consumer Relations Team

I purchased tires from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in April of this year to be installed onto my car. Goodyear sent a mobile installation van to my house to install the tires. After the appointment had been completed and the employee had left, I noticed damage to the rims of my car. I reached out to Goodyear to ask if the damage was noted on their end. They said they have no record of them causing damage. I asked for before and after pictures to prove that they did not cause the damage to my wheels and they provided some pictures that the tech had taken. The entirety of the work are was not documented in the before pictures, on the after pictures. After examining the pictures, a member of the Goodyear property damage claims team, ***** *******, reached out and said the damage was not from Goodyear. I have found proof that they did inflict the damage in the pictures that they sent, however Mr.******* disagrees. I had been going back and forth with them for about 2 months until they finally stopped responding. ***** went through many excuses of what the damage was from. First claiming there was no damage, then claiming it was curb rash, then claiming it was already there before. I spent 239.78 on the two tires that were installed. I would like Goodyear to pay for the repair of the damage they caused to my rims.Business Response

Hello,
The Goodyear Property Damage Claims Team received pictures from the customer and the Goodyear location of the damage wheels in question. Looking at the pictures from the customer and the Goodyear location, the wheels look to have curb damage. Curb damage is the result of the wheels/rim hitting the curb of the road or the sidewalk. See attached pictures.

On 9/3/2024 I purchased a set of 4 Goodyear Wrangler Steadfast tires for my vehicle. According to the dealership website as well as the Goodyear website, these tires were eligible for multiple rebates if completed before 9/30/2024. On 9/18, I submitted all rebate forms and was denied each rebate. First rebate was for $125 if I used the Goodyear credit card. I applied for, was approved, and received my Goodyear credit card. Upon submission of my rebate I was told that I could only be eligible for that specific rebate if tires were purchased at a 'verified Goodyear' dealer. This was not stated anymore in the rebate disclaimer or details. Second, I filled out a $100 'base rebate' and was again denied. This time I was told that I did not purchase my tired through a 'recognized' dealer. Again these specific requires were nowhere listed on the disclaimer or details of the rebate on the Goodyear website. All together, Goodyear advertised a total of $225 in rebates in order to lure me into buying their tires and then refused to uphold payment of the rebates for reasons that were nowhere written or stated in the agreement. The rebate offer number on their website is #******. This is a very deceitful tactic that Goodyear used to falsely advertise a promotion and then refuse to pay to the customer. My payment for the tires has been paid in full by myself.Business Response

I purchased tires in January. Had the rebate info and opened credit card to get 250 rebate. I check today on the rebate because I didn't receive it. They screen shot pic. of the rebate number I found the email to be wrong. So this is why I didn't response back and the person on the phone said that email looked good, but I tried to send a test email to the wrong one and it could not be delivered. Now they tell me I can't get the rebate because they closed the rebate offer. There are way to verify emails. They could have called and didn't.Business Response

Good morning,
We have reached out to the customer and the location where customer purchased his ********************************************* in regards to not receiving his rebate. Unfortunately the rebate department did not receive all the documents needed to fulfill the customers rebate request. The email listed on customer form was not the correct email so customer had no way of knowing status and then missed the deadline for the rebate. Goodyear has determined to issue the customer a check for rebate amount he qualified for which is $175.00. We have contacted the customer and he has approved the amount and resolution.
Have a great day,

On 07/08/24 i took my car in for service at Goodyear. When it was done, I picked up my car ( 2017 honda civic si ) from Goodyear. I drove my car down the street about 100 yards and my oil guard under my car fell off on the highway. I called Goodyear back and told them what happened and they said bring the car back and they will fix it. So I brought it back and they fixed it but it was all scratched up underneath, and I just bought this car and had it shipped in from oahu it only had 35,000 mi it was just about new I only had it a couple days. The guy who worked on my car said sorry, he put it on backwards, so I said ok and drove off. We'll a week later I started hearing funny noise coming from my engine, just a little so I didn't think nothing of it, but it started getting worse as time went on. I work far away so I drive to work about 130 mi a day give or take. About a month goes by and I see the low oil pressure light come on, so I check my engine oil at work and found out there was no oil in my motor!! I took a video and called Goodyear and the manager said he'll refund me and check the car for damages, I took it to Goodyear n they service it again n they said everything was good, but I said I'm going to get a second opinion and took my car to honda to have it check. Honda said there was major damage due to not having oil in car ( i have the receipt and recommendations which cost $8842.49 to fix). I took the results to Goodyear and from that moment on they gave me a hard time and basically said it's not there fault and there not going to fix it!!! I just bought this car, I made a loan for it, I don't have any way of going to work, I can't afford to fix a problem that Goodyear caused by their negligence by not putting oil in my brand new car, I just want my car the way it was when I first brought it to Goodyear new and running good, thank you very much.Business Response

This customer claim was sent to our property damage claim department for review for damage claim. The customer claim was denied** On 7/8/2024 Auto Tech at Goodyear Auto Service Hilo Hawaii completed an Oil Change on the 2017 Honda Civic. Auto Tech installed 0W20 oil 3.4 quarts and double-checked with two double sign-off verifications—odometer 36,583 with no oil leaks and no oil warning lights. Although the customer says no oil was installed, our records indicate the oil was installed to the proper level. On 8/31/24, the Odometer reading at 41,995. Problem:
I am still being charged for road hazard insurance on my Goodyear credit card, which is closed. I attempted to use the road hazard insurance years ago (within the 3 year time limit) at the ************, ** location. They said they would not honor my road hazard insurance, citing they are a franchise, but they still have the Goodyear name. This is ridiculous. They charged me the full amount for my tires. Now, I'm still being charged for road hazard insurance even though I was never able to use it. It's Goodyear's fault for not honoring the program I signed up for, and I was within the time limit to use it. I had an incompetent Goodyear customer ********************** person leave a voicemail on my phone showing her incompetency because I already explained the situation to her and she still didn't understand it. I have spent lots of time on phone call getting the runaround , two calls told me they have no record of me , another says the card was mailed, yet another says it was mailed to wrong address . I submitted what was asked for my rebate. I uploaded photos of the documents they asked for . They said it was approved. If something isnt right with an address then email me and figure it out . Im mot getting anywhere with Goodyear service , and I have 2 more sets of tires that qualify for the same rebate ,wondering if Ill ever get those rebates either .Business Response

I bought 4 brand new tires online from goodyear. i got them installed and kept hearing a sound. so i called goodyear open up a ticket and they sent me back to the shop where ***** road force balance the tires.. and sure enough one of the tires was defective.(brand new tire) less than 50 miles on ***** this point im disappointed with the tires not too mentioned that the reason i got the tires was because i was driving from ** to **. They sent a ***lacement tire to the shop and made me an appointment for 10am 9/12/2024. Everything was ready we just needed to get a goodyear *** on the phone in order to complete the process. The shop and i were on two different lines trying to get a hold of anybody at goodyear for more than 2 hours. since we could not get anybody on the phone i left the shop. day wasted. finally after another phone call an one hour later of being on hold i get someone on the phone but is too late since i left the shop over an hour ago. at this point im not interested in ***lacement. take your defective tires and give me a refund. this is unprofessional and lack of respect for customers as well as shop ****************************** is telling me they dont do refunds only warranty exchanges which is on their website. Ok no problem, i tried to work with this company, jump through hoops to fix the problem, and wasted my time for several days all because you sent me a defective tire. i agree to your warranty and so on but i dont recall agreeing to receiving defective tires and the fiasco that comes with it. this is inconsiderate and unprofessional and im force to deal with this and then keep jumping through hoops because you are shipping out defective tires. I dont wanna deal with your company anymore. i want my money back and you can keep your defective tires. whos going to reimburse me for my time being wasted and delaying my trip which is the reason i bought this tires in the first place.Business Response

We reached out to the customer via phone to review the tire concern. The tire has been replaced. As I was listening to the customer the customer ended the call.
